Celestia: gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss

So I’m rewatching the first few episodes of MLP:FiM, and I’m just now realizing that Celestia blatantly gaslit Twilight into thinking she was crazy about Nightmare Moon’s return when she was the (exact) reason Luna turned into Nightmare Moon and therefore banished to the moon. Not only that, but after defeating Nightmare Moon and finding the Elements, Celestia tells Twilight “I told you you needed to make some friends, nothing more”; but when Spike first read her response back in Canterlot (which is what started this) she said that it “was an old mare’s tale” and that she “needed to stop reading those dusty old books”. And while yes, Twilight did learn her lesson and made friends, but she was also gaslit into thinking she was wrong/crazy.

what’s something you didn’t realize until now?

I read the story of La Llorona back in elementary school. It’s about this mom who’s about to re-marry, but her fiancée says she can’t have kids from her previous marriage (if I remember right), so the twin boys are drowned in a nearby river at night after a while. She goes to marry her fiancée, but something happens (I don’t remember what- I read this story once like a decade ago), and they don’t get married. So, driven by grief and mourning, she drowns herself in the same river to be with her boys. Legend says she still haunts the nearby bridge.

Recently, a song about La Llorona played on my Spotify, and it was the first time I’d heard it pronounced correctly. Keep in mind, I’ve loved learning languages since I was little, especially Spanish, and when I told my mom about this we both had a really good laugh. I had (stupidly) thought it was pronounced La Lo-lorona, not La Yoronya- yes I am aware those are spelled incorrectly, I’m spelling them the way they’re pronounced.

I took three years of Spanish, passed the class too. I thought it was pronounced that way for ~12 years, give or take.

ok, hear me out…

make a homemade pizza crust- 1c flour, 1tbsp sugar, 1tsp salt, 2 1/4 tsp yeast, 1/2c oil, and 1c warm water. Mix and add flour until it’s an appropriate dough texture- it shouldn’t fall apart, and it shouldn’t be super sticky. Let it rise next to a heat source; most commonly your oven while it preheats to 350F (use 375F for electric- we have a gas stove, so it runs hot). Once it’s doubled in size, put it on a baking sheet that’s been sprayed with PAM, and bake for 8 minutes. To assemble your pizza, may I suggest: marinara sauce (for homemade: 1 container to 1.5 containers of water. Coat liberally with Italian seasoning, garlic, and onion powder, or whichever spices you want to use). Chicken nuggets, sliced, bacon bits, Gruyère cheese, and bury all that under mozzarella cheese. Bake it for ~15-20 minutes or until the cheese melts. Enjoy with the soda/pop of your choice!

does it feel weird to anyone else to just eat a slice of cheese? Like, eating a cheese stick by itself is totally acceptable, but a cheese slice belongs in a sandwich. But I want the cheese slice, it's a good type of cheese-

the fact that I can never trust a single water bottle in my room ever again is truly astonishing. Blue one looks like Kool-aid? Nope, that's a mix of Miracle-Gro indoor plant food and Miracle-Gro bloom booster Flower Food for my dahlia. Those two empty bottles on my dresser next to the fake kool-aid? Backups for the outside plants that would legitimately die if it was only my mom taking care of them. The one on my nightstand? Heck if I know, it could have the indoor plant food in it- that one's clear- and I can't tell if it's cold or not because the water bottle I brought home with me was chilly.

I have made this problem and it will not be fixed, as I like my dahlia and it's actually gonna bloom here in the next week or so-

I would just like to say that I think it's hilarious that Sun Wukong's staff is literally just a pillar he got from Ao Guang (the dragon king of the East Sea) because he decided to teach the rest of the monkeys in Flower Fruit Mountain how to fight so that he wouldn't have to go rescue them all the time.
