I think that something to remember about living to try to please others, to the extent that you begin to neglect the importance of what YOU want...is that other people like to feel wanted BY you.

If everything becomes about how you can put yourself aside to please everyone around you, it becomes harder and harder to let in the feelings of genuinely wanting to be around someone. Wanting to need their help, wanting to talk with them or see them or desire to connect even IF it might be slightly inconvenient for them or for you. Just like how you're willing to put yourself aside for others who care about you, sometimes others don't mind, or even WANT, to be slightly inconvenienced if it means feeling wanted. So it's okay to let yourself live for you a little, because that's how you let people in. That's how you learn to love.

What I'd give for one of the Cinderella remakes to go into how when you're in an isolated and abusive situation, sometimes you need to be saved and you're not weak if you can't escape by yourself

I've never been a fan of bad faith reinterpretations of fairy tales, especially ones which flatten the originals into "princesses is saved by a prince and nothing else", to then go #girlboss. The princess can save herself because she's a strong female character! (Implying if you're in a bad situation, it's because you're not strong enough to get out)
