In a ninjago where things went better, where Morro and Wu made up and Morro survived, Wu would still outlive him, the same as he has outlived so many friends before him.

Wu is thousands of years old, the son of a God, near immortal, and he will likely live for thousands of years more. But Morro won't. Morro is human. Humans age, and humans die of that age. And Morro will too.

It's natural and unavoidable, and it shouldn't be avoided. Morro lives a long, happy life and when his time comes it's ok. But not for Wu.

Nothing could have possibly prepared him for the pain of seeing his son age and die while he stays still. His precious student, his little boy, old and wrinkled, and now dead. Having to bury his son without so much as a twinge of arthritis in his thousand year old joints, and the fear that one day he will have lived so long beyond this day that he forgets it.
