I may be unemployed but Mondays are still the worst because it’s yet another week of submitting my ‘filing certification’ (proving that I have applied to at least 4 jobs in the past week) to my state’s labor department office and I’ve still received no money from my (submitted) unemployment benefits claim. They haven’t even fully approved of my application for benefits yet. I’m so exhausted. I just want a job or, at the very least, for my worthless state government to finally pay me what I’ve been owed for the past month.

I'm making a new post since the original post is over a month outdated (Momo is now healthier than ever) and, almost one month post-layoff, I have still only received a few interviews without follow-up and my unemployment benefits are still in review, so I've received no official financial help from the state yet.

My name's Suit (though most of you probably know me as Adrian or Dairy or Lake or Maz or the Suit system), I'm disabled and trans, I was a crisis counselor before being laid off and now I'm struggling to find employment due to being disabled and trans.

With everything still going on for so many others in similar situations, I feel awful about asking for help again but the money I've received for my prescriptions and groceries to supplement what I'm allowed to get from the food bank has been tremendously helpful so far. Any mutual aid help or signal-boosting of this post is greatly appreciated.

tried to explain to a white liberal that i felt weird seeing white people make racist sounding jokes about AI ("tin crow laws", "wirebacks/silverbacks", "my daughter better not come home with no god damn clanker") because of how ingrained it is into the "white" identity to incite genocide by inventing an outgroup, and how that's the only "white heritage" that exists because "whiteness" was invented 200 years ago from ideology.

i was told i was "flexing my history knowledge" for bringing this up, and then accused of promoting bioessentialism for saying racism defines white blood-- something objectively true, as "whiteness" cannot exist without an outgroup.

By the way, this is an actual thing I received in the mail from my state’s department of labor (Iowa Workforce Development) after I filed for unemployment last month. Not a single thing in this entire booklet about how to ask landlords or utility companies for an extension on rent or bills (something that is absolutely possible to do and definitely recommended if you suddenly become unemployed) but countless bullet points of completely dogshit advice like this.

Yeah, that's perfectly OK (or, if you're comfortable with DMing me, I can also send you the email associated with my PayPal to pay, which I think allows for 'friends and family')

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to change this without shutting down my entire account (?) or my account getting flagged, it's been an issue since I originally opened my PayPal to accept money for art commissions.

Nothing received since making this post. I’m feeling hopeless about the fact that I continue being rejected by hiring employers and by the glacial pace at which my unemployment claim is being processed. I feel deeply uncomfortable e-begging like this but I am still in need of mutual aid before September rent and my next electrical bill come due, which currently take precedence over anything else.
