that's so interesting

Not a popular opinion, but I believe that Elric of Melnibone has more key things in common with Clare from Claymore than he has with Geralt from the witcher

What do I mean?

- Clare and Elric willingly became dependant on unstable and cursed powers they were subtly tricked into taking (although clare never intended to fully serve the ones who gave them to her unlike elric who is bound to them)

- considered the weakest of their kind (can prove this wrong on several occasions, but still considerably weak without their enhacements)

- they were (indirectly) involved in death of a loved one on more occasions, and those deaths were the catalysts of their stories (clare becoming a warrior and Elric venturing into the world) It's interesting that Elric had this happen after he obtained his cursed powers, and Clare before.

- not clare herself, but both Elric and other claymores destroyed their places of origin due to finding out the vile and disgusting truth about them (well, at least in the comics for Elric, the books gave a little underwhelming cause)

- Both of them being completely detached from human emotions (Clare was burying them inside, and Elric had little to no empathy) but re/gaining some during their journey, only for them to come to bite them back.

- them accidentally killing their girlfriend and it actually leaving them with some massive trauma

Edit: Also they are both in a way incarnations of powerful beings, albiet in different ways each

In conclusion, you can think of Clare as either Guts' little sister or an unofficial female Witcher, but now you can think of her as a more fucked up incarnation of Elric/eternal champion as well

only drawing on its own can't compare, mainly because you still have to draw to make a game

for some reason i vividly remember reading that Vadhagh, and therefore Corum, had golden skin (with rose scales/glittering or smth, but i'm a lot more unsure on this part).

but i don't ever see that in fanart or comics, so i think i dreamt it up ...

if you're writing bland fantasy but making main characters gay the book is still bad :/

in an attempt to escape heteronormative cliché romances in fantasy i time and time again accidentally stumble into modern romantasy riddled with tropes and devoid of plot or personality (cmon, you're a character driven story, at least have well written characters (or story)).

i really need to read some 80s sci-fi or something, or maybe a physics book.

As gen-AI becomes more normalized (Chappell Roan encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use gen-AI because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by tech companies. I draw not because I want a drawing but because I love the process of drawing. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.

stuff from a few last months

i had my first exhibition, which was fun, albeit exhausting.

now im customising the zines we made about it.

on the cover it says "the sun will explode in 5 000 000 000 years", that was the name of our exhibition.

got to get home for the first time in three days because air raids start right when i finish with work and i can't get to the left river bank till curfew

well at least i get to have a sleepover with friends i guess lol
