Peacock Miraculous

The season 2 finale left me with a lot of thoughts about the Peacock Miraculous.

Like why did it almost kill Nathalie? One theory is that it almost killed her because it was broken, but I don’t agree with that theory. I think that the Peacock Miraculous is like a fail-safe. Like a “Break glass in case of emergency”.

My theory is that the Peacock Miraculous can give some kind of ultimate power to defeat your enemy one time, but it is at the cost of the life of the Miraculous holder. But if my theory is true, why didn’t that happen when Nathalie used it? Well, because it’s broken. It’s powers were diminshed, only allowing Hawkmoth to escape without defeating his enemies. Because it was broken, it also severely weakened Nathalie rather than killing her.

And this spawns my “Hawkmoth isn’t actually fundamentally evil” theory. I think that Hawkmoth was once good and, with his wife, they were superheroes just like Ladybug and Chat Noir. But then they were faced with an impossible villain and Mama Agreste used the Peacock Miraculous to sacrifice herself to give Gabriel ultimate power to defeat their impossible enemy.

So I believe that Hawkmoth was once good. And he’s definitely not good now, but he’s not necessarily evil. His only motivation for being Hawkmoth is to bring his wife back to life. He doesn’t have the same motivations that most supervillains have. And I think that if it were an option, he would definitely give up his own life to get his wife back.

Honestly, I think that Hawkmoth would sacrifice anyone (except Adrien) to get his wife back. He would definitely feel guilty about sacrificing some people (like Nathalie) but he would still do it. Evidence? In the season 2 finale, he tells Nathalie that she shouldn’t have used the Peacock miraculous, but when she tells him that basically she’s willing to do anything for him, he just like says okay. So, yes, he would be willing to sacrifice Nathalie in order to get his wife back.

Marichat Teaser Thoughts

So, like everyone else, i just have a few thoughts on that Marichat teaser for Season 3 episode 2.

So Adrien sees which rooftop she jumps on to (we know because he follows her to it). And he’s been to Marinette’s house/bakery quite a few times, so I feel like he would recognize that it’s her house. Like, he’s gone there as Chat Noir before. And if still didn’t recognize that it was, just from the location, Tom popping out onto the roof and inviting him back over for Sunday breakfast should have made him realize that.

And yet, it does not occur to him that maybe Marinette is Ladybug. Ladybug just hangs out on Marinette’s rooftop all the time but Marinette just can’t get enough time with Ladybug. That is obviously the most likely explanation.

Like, no wonder Adrien will never figure out her identity if he’s this dumb. (Don’t hate me for calling him dumb. I love Adrien, but he’s really not the best at logic sometimes.)
