I don't think I can link my instagram to my sketchblog rather than my main blog. Oops?

Ren and Cyr icons for winter ... I think this is going to be a thing.
Cyrille's coat turns white and wooly when the weather gets cold, and unfortunately for Ren, his hair does the same.

Theme music: x, x
Ren is a scoundrel hailing from some backwater village in China, with a robust physique and a background in martial arts. However, he's lazy and unknempt and is usually seen zooming around on a light blue moped with a pizza in hand and a large chip on his shoulder. After the sun goes down, Ren puts his true talents to use in the face of evil - whether it be ordinary bank robbers or monsters - he does not seem to care where his thrills come from, only that he gets them. He's crude, punkish, immature and even downright violent except with cute animals, which he seems to have a weakness for. Ren is physically and emotionally bound to a shape shifting demonic creature he's called 'Cyrille' by his right wrist. He was also created by Brass, but is drawn often enough that he needs a reference sheet!

Sketches of last night's icons and a WIP of the Ren one. I was flipping the lineart for them both back and forth and it caused me to draw Ren's squinted eye on the wrong side initially.

Ren and Cyr icons because the old ones were old, and these are appropriately spoopy.

What are the roots that clutch, what branches grow
Out of this stony rubbish? Son of man,
You cannot say, or guess, for you know only
A heap of broken images, where the sun beats
And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief,
And the dry stone no sound of water ☼
A sketch done to The Waste Land by T. S. Eliot. I'm enjoying the negative space, but there's something about the rock formation I don't like. Maybe the straightness of it? I'll finish and revise it soon, because poetry is awesome.

It's a gold and honey trap I've got for you tonight Revenge it's a kiss, this time I won't miss now I've got you in my sight With a goldeneye (♠)
I do this thing where when I need to warm up really quickly, I'll draw to a song - and I'm only allowed to draw while that song is going through a single play. I asked a buddy for a song and this is what I've got. I'm proud of this three and a half minute sketch, even if it's ~risque~ (but it's a Bond theme so it was inevitable).
Original characters, Moth (or just her boobs in this case) and Hyperion from my sci-fi universe. Edited because same friend wanted to use it for icons.

Hermann trying to get The Guardian to sing again. The Guardian only knows happy sounding sea shanties from the deepest recesses of his memories, much to Hermann's frustration.
Happy Birthday, Berds!

// Arbutus A series of dragons I did with west coast influences, for Art in the Park. Arbutus trees are a common sight in British Columbia, along with our giant, evergreen rainforests. When painting these trees, all I had to do was look outside for references.

// Gold Seas
A series of dragons I did with west coast influences, for Art in the Park. While orcas are found in a few places all over the world, the cultures of the pacific northwest regard killers whales as powerful hunters, as caretakers who lived in the ocean, or the spirits of deceased chiefs. Whale watching is a common sight in many parts of British Columbia!
