Summary:

Baz

“You were brilliant, Baz. You’re always brilliant,” he says, and the way he’s saying my name tonight is wholly different than any other way he’s ever said my name. I’ve heard him say my name with joy, hate, exasperation, admiration, and a thousand different emotions behind it. But tonight...it’s almost as if he’s saying my name with want. The way I’d say his name if I was brave enough to be honest.

When Shepard buys a pair of rose-colored glasses from a hobgoblin, the cursed object gets magicked to Simon's face, giving him an overly optimistic view of the world. Penny and Baz know they are dangerous, because they could potentially affect his self-preservation instincts. As they try to figure out how to get them off, Baz starts to wonder if the things Simon says and does under their influence are real. Will Simon feel the same way when the glasses come off?

Notes: This is a canon divergence story in which Baz and Simon’s truce in eighth year led to them becoming best friends instead of boyfriends. It takes place about a year after AWTWB, and magic can now affect Simon again.

Rose-Colored Glasses (T), 7k

Simon gets us to the center of the open space and pulls me a little closer.  Saturdays by Twin Shadows starts playing and his grin spreads even wider, hips swaying to the beat.  Simon is a surprisingly good dancer, especially like this when he just lets himself get lost in the music.  It’s intoxicating, really.  I follow his lead, letting his hands guide me.

“Baz, he’s singing about Saturday!  Like today is Saturday!” Simon says.

“Today’s Thursday, Simon,” I correct, draping my arms over his shoulders.

“No, but like, the vibe right now is Saturday.  Like anything’s possible, you know?” He's leaning forward, whispering in my ear, and the feeling of his breath in my ear gives me goosebumps.

Hello! Welcome to Specktival (aka SpeckyFest), This is a fest dedicated to the line, “Look at you, all specky.” From awtwb.

(So beware of awtwb spoilers in this fest!!)

Essentially, have you ever wanted to write a fic, draw some art, or do literally anything else with the characters in The Simon Snow Series in glasses? Well, this is your chance!

The main rule with this fest is, Shep, Penny, Baz, Simon, Agatha, Niamh, Swithin, Lady Ruth, literally any character, THEY ALL GOTTA BE SPECKY!!

This is all about making your fave characters specky and showing it off!

Sign ups open on the 22nd and close on the 29th!

The posting dates will be the 13th of November through the 20th of November!
