Daisy Bell is one of my Roman Empires tbh. It's relevance in pop culture and infosec goes so deep...

It all started with the fact that it was the first song sung by a computer.

The fact that this album exists fills me with inexplicable joy.

Futurama season 4 episode 3, (overall episode 57), Bender sings Daisy Bell, which is especially ironic with him being a robot.

I was reading Fairy Tale by Stephen King, and the Bicycle Built for Two was referenced in chapter 10-6, too. The delight I get over finding these morsels!

The entirety of the Brobeck's album "Violent Things," but in this case especially "Le Velo Pour Deux" (Love at First Sight is one of the songs I'll listen to on repeat for hours, and the themes floating through the entire album are lovely)

For me, it started with Dengeki Daisy. I had never heard Daisy Bell. Dengeki Daisy was a manga that I read before it was completed, and at the time I was first starting to get into the infosec / hacker world. The song being the reason for the pen name "Daisy," and the lyrics showing up in the manga, sent me on a wild goose chase of discovery and wonder. I loved going deeper into the roots of the reference and finding so many more delightful references to Daisy Bell.

Plus, the song is old enough that while individual versions of it may be copyright, the original song is basically an old time classic that is public domain.

And to be fair, the original AT&T Bell Labs is another one of my Roman Empires, so the fact that the IBM 7094 which sung it originally was an experiment ran in Bell Labs fills me with wonder and excitement.

Paper is history. Paper is woven from the pulp of trees that lived for countless years, years we will never know as all trace of them has been bleached from the remnants of the wood. Recycled paper has the history of each word that was ever written or printed on it. At first, you can see a few words or letters when the paper is initially shredded, but as it becomes finer and finer to create a thin sheet, the words become unrecognizable. Colors blend together into a grey, speckled mess. The sheet you end up with is, itself, a history -- the history of the tree that was originally used to create the paper, the history of what it was used for after its initial creation. Perhaps it was recycled before. How many times has something different been written on that paper? What mysteries are hidden within the finished sheet? Those mysteries are unsolvable now, but their memory remains in the scattered flecks on the newly created page.

Mari is considerate and helpful to Adrien, but not overbearing and overprotective like everyone else in his life.

Adrien Agreste is babied by everyone in his life and has very low self-esteem. he feels like everyone looks down on him. except for her.

Chat Noir is cool and funny, but there’s also a certain softenss to him, like you know deep down he’s quite sensitive and understanding.

He’s full of confidence, he shows dedication to helping people, he bounces back from anything. He’s what she aspires to be.

He visits her sometimes, hangs out, on her rooftop garden. He enjoys her company and she seems to enjoy his too.

Chat Noir/Adrien slowly falls for Marinette. Mari/Ladybug slowly falls for Chat.
