A sneak peek of something I'll be continuing with added color. The direction I choose to go with this one? A planned surprise :)

Sometimes I temporarily keep weird shading in my art drafts for the purpose of helping me keep track of certain elements/ as placeholder "color variation" or to give myself a bit of leeway to adjust things when I want to make lineart and color more accurately placed.

As I further my process, I choose whether to make my art more stylistically cohesive through the whole piece OR purposely let it clash. My art is primarily experimental. Art is fluid and open to near infinite interpretations of the same thing. Art is a fun playground to channel my racing thoughts into.

I like to keep drafts, duplicate, then finish/ build the piece more because I tend to forget my own process at times if I don't. I tend to forget how sloppy my initial art was, and that is no good for motivating myself. Allow sloppiness into your art and your creativity will later thank you for the leeway.

I think this is a good PSA. Even to earlier sketch versions of my art I may start to post, I will be using AI disturbance and adding my signature. Hope more people see this post!

if you're an artist, please please PLEASE put your user name on your art especially on a place that will be seen even if it's cropped, even on your doodles atp cuz i've came across bunch of blogs that steals art from multiple artist and some of those pieces doesn't have usernames and i can't find the actual artist

if you came across blogs like that here is what to do:

dni with the blog at all

let the actual artists know about the situation if you can

report and block the blog

like i said, PUT YOUR USER ON YOUR ART, and if you can, also put AI disturbance because they might put your art through AI so better safe than sorry

please also let other artists know about this so they can be more cautious

So... I might attempt to draw Vector at some point. I can be very slow at actually enacting my ideas so it probably won't be soon when post something with Vector.

Hi folks! Figured I might as well make a pinned post for this blog. I'm SoulfulCryptid and I like to make art! Most of it has gone unposted as that has been practice for me and I'm still figuring out how I want to make my art look. But I have fun with it!

I really like Sonic the Hedgehog, among a few other things you might see me make art for eventually... like fanart of SCP 049, Undertale, The Amazing Digital Circus, etc. I'm not limited to just liking those things but I was scrolling through my art folders and saw quite a few drawings for those. I can be very picky about what I decide to post, but I'm trying to curb my perfectionism a bit.

Hopefully I draw some more Sonic stuff I would feel like posting on here. I have made a lot of attempts at getting a good style for it, but my muscle memory and structure could use some work. As it is... I hope to at least 5 people like the art I make. Thank you and have some more art!

I will probably make separate posts for these ones on their own. But it did feel like a fun addition to my pinned post.

^^^ Here is the traditional art version and the one above it is the digitally colored one of it I made. Had to take liberties transferring the mediums. There are times I prefer my tradtional art from my digital as digital is much newer to me. (only started digital art around 2019 or 2020, I forget which year.)

^^^Wanted to give sketching this pose a shot as well! The classic Sonic Adventure pose, of course. Might eventually make a colored version of this pic that I like.

^^^Shadow! I love this guy but I have such a hard time getting him to look the way I want to get him to look. This unfinished doodle was the best I could find for now.

If you're looking for a scene that best captures the complexity and nuance of Shadow the Hedgehog's character, look no further than this scene.

The reason why I love this scene is because he's not just saying these things to hurt Sonic, but more to express the hurt he feels in seeing Sonic take after him.

His facial expressions and the way he speaks (god bless you Keanu Reeves!)are not expressing pure hatred, saditisc revelry, or callous indifference. He's disgusted, dismayed, AND DARE I SAY HURT that Sonic would go down the path that he himself took, and that he would do so despite having so much to lose (i.e. the people he cares about)!

He's not saying "we're not so different you and I", he's saying "I'm disgusted that you would become just like me!"

It really drives home just how deeply the pain, loss, and trauma he experienced 50 years ago affects him, and not only that, he harbours a toxic hatred for himself because of the terrible mistakes that pain inspired him to make, and that he would do ANYTHING TO BE FREE OF IT. And now that hatred extends to Sonic for making the same terrible mistakes that he made!

I appreciated the comments about it looking like a traditional painting because I really like incorporating a lot of traditional art techniques into my digital art. It just makes it more fun to me.

I made more SCP 049! I'll be honest, I definitely switch and experiment a lot with how I style my art when drawing this character. He just... looks neat.

so interesting the fear that some buckaroos have over letting their art into the world because it is 'not perfect'. first of all it never will be. second of all the dirt and mess and truth are not problems we learn to get over and accept, they are literally what makes art great

Here is some art I did back in September. It was a bit of practice for grassy landscapes I wanted to get better at doing. It was something I remembered having fun with and I wanted to share it on here.
