Loki@Alyse: Hello there! I haven't seen such a full hairstyle on a human since that green-haired pup that I've visited a few times, and even he ties it back a bit. Say, I could have sworn I saw a few cutiefly and other fairy Pokemon fluttering in between some of your tresses. Would you like a Gracidea flower? Maybe even a couple other cool-coloured flowers to go with it? I think it'd look good on you, especially if I added a few lavender sprigs. You'd be a walking magnet for those little fairy-type friends of yours, not to mention all the wonderful aromas they'd create~

After they were given the flowers, the human seemed to become less on-guard. Fewer nervous glances to other attendees, and more focus on Loki and the cutiefly.

The fairies peeked their heads out of Alyse's hair to see the new additions to their hideaway. Tiny voices chattered amongst themselves. Some rested near the flowers, others took the opportunity to stretch their little limbs and wings.

A more daring handful took off and playfully fluttered around Loki and her own flowers, a bit of fairy dust landing on her from the movement. Alyse laughed lightly at the sight.

Alyse walked up the steps to a filled floor of attendees. As they looked from one individual to the next, they froze in their tracks. Not only was almost everyone here Pokemon, there were even more legendaries and Pokémon they didn’t recognize. Maybe the invitation hadn't been for them, maybe it had been intended for someone else? But after having seen Kris and Nat, they knew they weren’t the only human here.

Even then, they turned around and quickly shuffled back down the steps to hide back in the foliage.

Reaching into their pocket, they pulled out a pokeball and opened it:

A grimmsnarl sporting flowering antlers materialized in front of them.

“Leylo you felt all those pokemon there right? I don’t want to walk in there by myself,” they laughed nervously.

(@sonder-palms) Alyse adjusted their glasses more properly before they hesitantly approached Khione. Admiring the taur's beautiful dress had made them wish they brought something fancier to wear- then again they hadn't planned to visit Faraway Island.

"You said your half-sister is a mew? She did a beautiful job on your dress, it must've taken a long time to make!" Alyse beamed happily. "What's it like having a legendary pokemon in your family?…"

They touched their pointer fingers together, a little nervous about asking. "I-if you want to talk about it, you don't have to."

Oh crap, a human. Do I run? No... they don't seem hostile.

The Aurorustaur's eyes watched Alyse's approach, keeping a nervous gaze on her face. She sniffed the air around the human a bit, noticing... a calm aroma around them. She lowered her guard slightly, nodding the closer they got to her, listening to them speak.

A Mew? They must have overheard Loki talk about Shania. But... I do have a legendary in the family... do I talk about him? Why not... they don't seem to pose a threat, and they don't know anything about where I live. Sure. It'll be good to talk about. She snapped back to reality just as Alyse touched pointer fingers and made their last remark.

"Huh? Me?" The dinosaur's head tilted in confusion. "Oh, nonono," she stammered, waving her hands at the human's question, "that's Loki that has the Mew in her family, not me. Though, uh... thank you for the compliments on my dress... you'd have to send your regards to Master Izotz for that one. He's a Chien-Pao, an incredibly gifted tailor and a distant cousin, about uh..." The Aurorustaur counted on her fingers for a moment. "...maybe eight or nine times removed? Either way we share a common Chien-Pao ancestor in his great, great, great, great, great..." She counted once again. "....great, great-grandfather."

"I wouldn't say it's really anything earth-shattering having a legendary in the family, though." Khione seemed rather nonchalant about the whole thing. "At least, Master Izotz doesn't really put too much stock into it, anyway. He's just content being a Pokemon like everyone else, and doing what he can to help family, friends, and neighbours. I don't subscribe to the whole 'legendary worship' tenet, but I know so many do. Like my friend Bijoux; she's Loki's daughter and she goes bonkers when she meets a legendary for the first time. I think she's got a bucket list to meet them all, between you and me, heh..."

The dinosaur cleared her throat, shaking her head. "I... uh, don't usually talk to humans this long, but you seem nice enough. I just hope I didn't make any sort of bad impression by talking too much; I haven't been very lucky in party set-"

"Khione! You made a friend! Thatta girl! I knew you'd be fine out here!"

The ice-type's head whipped behind her to see Loki strolling forward to meet her, the hybrid bowing gently toward Alyse. "Ah, hello... Khione, I didn't expect you to befriend a human!"

"Oh uh, well, I dunno, they commented on my dress and asked about a Mew in the family. You just caught us mid-conversation, really I never really got a chance to ask their name or double-check pronouns or any ot that."

"Oh, did they overhear us talking about my half-sister Shania? Heh... funny how you keep getting caught up in these things, Khione. Well, it can't be helped. I'm going to head over to the lantern send-off station; come join me when you're done."

"Okay." The tauric dino watched Loki strut away from her and Alyse, watching her leafy tail wag before snapping back to earth and offering the human her right hand. "Right, uh... as you probably heard, I'm Khione. I'd better get to the lantern stations; if you'd like to tag along you're welcome to. Just, er... before I go, you know, I should probably ask for your name. And make sure saying 'they' about you wasn't rude or anything."

I more or less oversee and keep the peace; you could call me a manager. I only truly intervene when it's absolutely necessary. Normally, my Arceus would be the one doing this, but after a horrid war, he was forced into a long slumber to regain his strength, so I've taken up the mantle. As for my niece and sister here, certain...circumstances don't allow them to partake in any of the duties I perfom.

Zuzu approached and stopped at a respectable distance before Celeste, Flora, and Kitsuki, then offered a bow. He held a hard expression on his face, wary of interacting at all, but he pushed through the feeling.

"Can I ask if this your home, or did you also receive an invitation?... What's home like for you?"

The trio return the bow, Celeste being the first to speak.

Ah, you're the second to ask if this is our home. It isn't. Like everyone else, we've been invited here from our homeworld. However, this island does bring some familiarity to me.

Flora perked up when she heard that.

Oh, so it's not just me! I also felt like I was back home when we got here!

[While tending to it later than the rest of the guests, Nat finally had a lantern to release at the designated time. The one thing that had kept him from making it was simply the decoration-he didn't know what to do, there were so many he would've wanted to write well wishes for that it felt unfair to leave another out. Especially with all that had come to his aid in the past, it only felt right to try and acknowledge as many as he could. But he settled on an idea, as predictable as it was.]

[Watching the lantern join the others was peaceful, to say the least. Something in the moment. There was nothing else to worry about as the lanterns convened in the night sky.]

[After a few moments a familiar sight descended next to Nat, watching the lanterns and letting their gaze go as it pleased. With a few more taking off Quetzal then looks down to his human.]

[The pair soon join the lanterns, Nat amused as they pass by the one he made.]

Quetzal: And what's the story with that one?

Nat: I wanted to cover my bases, so all the stars are for different friends and groups. I think it was the easiest way to go about it, y'know?

[Lingering in the sky and enjoying the company of the lanterns as they float by, Quetzal eventually takes off back towards Tano.]

Alyse waved to Spot and smiled. "Thanks again for the towel you gave me earlier!" For a moment they casually held out their arms to show off their new (dry) outfit. "Now I'm not a mess ahah. Well what's been your favorite thing to do here so far- is there anything you haven't done yet? How about the food- is the food good?"

Spot nodded, showing a cheery look.

Spot: "Y-you're welcome..! I have b-been l-like you in the past too. Th-this thing I like to w-wear can get heavy w-when it gets w-wet.. I'm g-glad you're okay..!"

She had a thought about her answers.

Spot: "Me a-and my siblings made lanterns, a-and we did try s-some of the food too..! A-about what w-we haven't done...w-we haven't explored as m-much of this p-place as we would have l-liked.. W-we were unsure of any p-places that w-we weren't allowed to go, a-and didn't w-want to risk it.."

She tapped her chin in thought.

Spot: "Ogerpon likes the noodles, a-and it's had to d-disagree w-with her opinion..! I do really w-want something w-with fish in it, though.. I'm g-gonna go and f-find some when I go b-back home.. What's b-been your favorite thing to d-do here..?"

(@sonder-palms) A gruff, shiny whimsicott approached Chester. "So, you're from Galar? Me too. We actually took off from Galar to start traveling recently. What part are you from?"

Chester sat on a stump and played with a coin, looking at how it moved until he caught it.

Chester: "Yeah. I was a Gimmighoul, runnin' 'bout 'ere and there, tryin' not to be snatched by big cats an' birds. Was hard to survive, but I managed to do it 'til I got to Paldea! Th' coins in Paldea's the only way Gimmighouls can evolve, so everyone wants to go there!"

He flipped the coin and caught it again.

Chester: "I'm from the south of Wyndon! Everyone there's got a voice like mine, an' they use a lot of slang too, but I never really do that. 's confusin'. I didn't live all the time there eivah. I managed to move t' Motostoke, which I liked more. 's more peaceful, there's less to run from. There's lots of 'umans 'oo like eatin' fish an' chips too! I liked to go 'round pinchin' their chips when they weren't lookin'!"

He leaned back a bit.

Chester: "Which part are you from? I saw there's places I 'aven't been to yet! Once I get t' go back there, I'll go check 'em out!"

Alyse shuffled over to Nat, grateful that there was another human (and familiar face) in the crowd.

"It's been a long time since I've seen you in person! I saw you on TV, you guys did such a great job during those fights!" They smiled happily.

"I heard that you're going to Johto while I was over for the Magi Event, are you excited? I'm actually headed there too. Have you been there before?"

I kinda forgot a... lot of people saw those battles.

[The idea of being perceived to such a degree was still a new one-granted it was the intention of entering the tournament, but it was still something to get used to.]

[Nat's attention returns for the next question, a bit of excitement to his voice.]

I have, actually! I don't remember the trip since I was maybe a year or two old, something like that, but I did go-old enough to walk and cause trouble, eheh.

I have extended family in Johto actually, supposedly. When you grow up calling everyone a cousin-from people related to you to family friends-you don't really know where the line is drawn.

"Oh my word ... I hope you're alright still." Vargas saw what had happened and was concerned after seeing the commotion. A faint glow would appear in the lantern he was carrying, acting as a miniature campfire to help dry out their clothes. "I hope this would help ... I unfortunately don't have a towel to provide. But I digress, any activities you were considering? Perhaps I can join in once you've dried off ... I can't decide on one myself."

Alyse stopped what they were doing to look at the lantern, admiring its glow. As they spoke to Vargas, they returned to working quickly to dry themselves using the towels on them.

There was a sense of urgency in the way their hands moved, and they repeatedly bent down and stood up in succession to find and dry the remaining damp spots as best they could.

Fern: Oh, are you appreciating my coat? I don’t blame you. It’s a judge favorite, you know.

“Your coat is very pretty, I haven’t seen a shiny espeon before! Where did you get your outfit?” Alyse smiled warmly.

“We have a shiny whimsicott on our team, but he’s resting- in my pocket- right now.”
