They waved from the water to try and catch their attention, before holding up a small white board with a message: "hello!! is this your first time here too? got any plans?"

THEY WERE DROWNING.

Alyse definitely didn't see this person when their taxi pokemon dropped them off. They ripped their cardigan and backpack off, then plunged into the salty water.

In their rush, a flurry of cutiefly crawled out of their hair and flew out.

Upon reaching Lalu, Alyse pulled them to the dock and helped them up. Now that they had a closer look at the reuniclus, they wore a perplexed expression on their face. What an odd pokemon. Neat, but odd.

"Are you okay?..."

Their hair hung heavy and damp- unsuitable for the fairies for now. Some cutiefly buzzed around them, some landed on the deck, and others wandered across the ocean surface.

Alyse headed towards the main event area, their clothes damp with salt water. They held their arms out awkwardly as they waddled up the hills. A trail of cutiefly followed behind them.

Help them dry off?

Lantern Rite Cameo

Hi! Firstly I want to thank you guys for joining this event, it's been a blast!

Now I would like to make another big post, so I need some few mons and humans, please reblog this post with your preferred attending character(s) if you would like to be part of the cameo!

(@ask-pokecats) Annalisé approaches Alyse as she takes her hat and waves with it. She makes sure they won't be scared like the last time.

"Bonjour bonjour! SO nice to see you in zis place. Anyways, I see zat is not your first time on ze island in general, have you been on ze other islands before?"

Alyse didn’t freak out this time, though they were surprised and looked to Annalisé with great interest- humanoid pokemon were unusual for them to see. Annalisé reminded them of anthropomorphic pokemon in children’s books, and Alyse wondered if they were from this world.

Though they remained polite in conversation.

Lantern Rite Cameos

Like usual we’ll see how many I actually do and there’s no guarantee I’ll draw them- but given my trainer is Not used to legendaries and other mons like that I think it’d be funny to cameo pokemon they’re not used to lol

Zuzu and his trainer eventually found each other. His trainer was less upset and more wild about a supposed Calyrex in the jungle, to which made the whimsicott both question their sensibilities and set him on high alert. He'd been expecting a talk about their separation, so this fascination at least provided short relief from that. Even then, he felt a tiny mixture of guilt and wariness in having done so bubbling up inside him. Things had been stressful for all of them.

He looked back at the jungle tree line, wondering if there'd really been a Calyrex. He wondered what else could be in there, was in there. What he didn't know.

The human walked with a spring in their step as the whimsicott brought them to the tables of food. Two more pokemon left their trainer's pokeballs and wandered as a group throughout the event: a popplio and a grimmsnarl sporting antlers.

They enjoyed their dinner then wandered from one area of the event to another. Back to the shore, they chased each other in play until their energy was sapped. They settled: The human and whimsicott on an outdoor blanket, the grimmsnarl lingered in the palm trees, the popplio joined the sea.

The night went on and the festivities came to a close, so Zuzu and his human set up camp for the night. No cooking materials were brought out, as everyone simply ate what was left from the tables and the whimsicott's stash.

With less people and pokemon about, Zuzu and his trainer grew more wary. They gave the occasional glance over the shoulder towards the dark jungle, and the shadows of palm trees. The light energy of the crowd was slowly replaced by a sense of being on their own yet again, despite still being on event grounds.

The shiny was tuckered out for the night with all the excitement of arriving. He was content to sit on their blanket and enjoy the salty breeze while the rest of the team entertained themselves with other things. When his trainer pulled out a light green scale from their pocket- his brows furrowed, and his ears drew back.

"Why do you still have that Alyse? I thought you left that in Galar," he questioned.

"It's just a scale Zu. And it kind of reminds me of a lunar wing." They rotated it in their fingers, engrossed in its texture and shininess despite the number of times they've done this very thing. "I dunno I think it helps me sleep better, I brought it for good luck, safe travels, all that stuff…" They trailed off and squinted their eyes as they looked closer at it.

"I don't believe it's from this world, so it doesn't belong with us. We're trying to get away from unusual things. At least that's what you told me," the whimsicott countered.

"Then we should keep it, or give it to someone who knows better," the human countered back. "You wouldn't toss ancient bones or ultra beast evidence. Besides, Leylo wants to take another look at it."

The whimsicott grumbled in annoyance as Alyse stood up to walk down the shore, without extra interjections. "I'll be back."

They walked a little ways until they lost interest in the scale and returned it to their pockets. As they waded through the sand with their feet, they bumped into something small and hard:

Alyse tried them on, but quickly pulled them back up as an orange light floated into their peripheral. They put the Cool Shades in their pockets and watched the lantern move:

The paper lantern floated gently through the sky with its warm glow flickering. A soft breeze carried it over and guiding it like a drifting star. As the flame inside began to fade, the lantern descended in slow, spiraling motions, its delicate frame rustling in the air. Finally, it touched down on a ground, its paper crinkling as it settled. Tied on the handle, a carefully folded letter peeked out. It's a handwritten invitation, it reads out...

" Dearest Esteemed Guest(s),

With great joy and reverence, we invite you to join us for this year’s Lantern Rite Festival, a celebration of light, harmony, and renewal. As the lanterns rise to illuminate the night sky, we come together to honor tradition, share in festivities, and embrace the warmth of companionship.

The festival will be held on 1st of March at Faraway Island.

Expect an evening filled with breathtaking lantern displays, enchanting performances, and a feast of exquisite delicacies.

Your presence would be a cherished honor, adding to the radiance of this special occasion. We look forward to celebrating under the glowing lanterns with you.

The human looked around at the empty beach, wondering if the lantern had been for them or someone else. They delicately picked it up, smelled the flowers, then brought it back to camp to share with their companions. A bleat of irritation bounced off the tops of the palm trees, followed by a back and forth of various voices.

The following morning, Alyse called a taxi pokemon to fly them to the island.

ALYSE AND THEIR TEAM HAS ARRIVED ON FARAWAY ISLAND.

( @divine--theatre ) The devil travels fast, faster than one can imagine – Diable reaches out to the trainer through the trees, "I overheard the gluttonous." They leaned, speaking fluent human through millions of voices, "You must be their trainer."

"I can be your guide back to them, for your partner's busy filling his belly - there's plenty of food for you to feast upon, too." They then pointed at what the trainer held in their hands, "Am I mistaken, or is that upside down?"

The human was at a loss for words and simply gawked at Diable. Stumbling across a legendary Pokemon was not something they expected, nonetheless in a region they hadn't been to very often. Not to mention willing and direct interaction, with someone like them. Did this Pokemon want something in return? Were they dreaming?

While a million thoughts ran through their head like panicking dedenne, a few cutiefly peeked out of their green hair. In contrast to the trainer's disbelief, the tiny fairies buzzed with interest and fluttered about Diable's own cutiefly.

The human looked down at their map: a part of them was analyzing its features, but most of them was accessing the situation. They may as well had been looking at a rock.

At this point the map wasn't important. They promptly and awkwardly bent down to bow to the Calyrex.

They had to be dreaming. This was getting questionably weird. Weirder than their normal-weird anyways. Still in a bowing position, the human glanced between Alicia and Diable with wide, confused eyes.
