welp to be fair, Scarlet Hollow is only like 5% a dating sim, it's mainly a horror visual novel about life in a small Appalachian mountain town (and the family ties that bind you as the player to the town).

although it's still in early access (4 episodes released out of 7 in total) it's one of my favorite games of the past couple of years, for what it's worth. If you're tired of branching narratives not having enough meaningful paths, you should try it out. It's insanely reactive and choices matter SO much. and I love all of the characters so much, they're so well-rounded and charming.

Sorry if you've been asked this before, but I was wondering if you've played Fields of Mistria :) I was thinking that if you like Stardew you could like FoM. Love your art btw, especially how the shapes and expressions of the characters! 👋🏼

Hadn't heard of it 'till now, but it looks interesting. I'm a bit wary of trying farming sims in early access these days tho (last EA farming sim I tried was Palia and it was... not good lol), so I might just wishlist it for now and revisit it upon full release. Thanks for bringing it to my attention tho!

Edit: I don't have massive beef with Palia or anything, I just felt like it was balanced weirdly and the world felt very empty, even for it being in EA. My biggest complaint was how fecking long it took to craft and build pretty much anything and the fact that their monetization model of cosmetic items was, let's say, unfairly priced.

I also forgot to mention I've kinda been burnt on EA farming sims even more with Coral Island. I wanted to love that game so badly, but even at 1.0 release it was far from finished and every time I played it just made me want to replay Stardew. Gorgeous game tho, I just felt like it was a bit blandly written and the daily mini games needed a lot of work to be fun to play 🤷‍♀️

The next cozy game on my radar is not technically a Stardew/Harvest Moon-sim, but kinda close. It's Wanderstop, by the dev that made The Beginner's Game and The Stanley Parable. Really looking forward to it, the full release is in March (not sponsored lol)
