Games to play while honoring the NYTimes Tech Guild strike
The Tech Guild at the New York Times is on strike, and they are asking that we don't play Wordle or other NYT games, or access recipes or listen to podcasts hosted there (doing so is crossing the picket line).
So here are some alternative games that may tide you over (or even find you a new favorite game) while the strike is on:
BARDLE: shakespearegeek.github.io/bardle/ words that appears in Shakespeare's works
LORDLE: lordle.digitaltolkien.com (words that appear in Lord of the Rings)
HEARDLE: heardlewordle.io guess a song w/six tries, each one sec longer
WORLDLE: worldle.teuteuf.fr guess a country by silhouette
GLOBLE: globle-game.com guess a country by proximity
STATELE: statele.teuteuf.fr guess the U.S. state by silhouette and then answer bonus questions
WHERE TAKEN: wheretaken.teuteuf.fr guess country in photo and then answer bonus questions
WHERE TAKEN USA: wheretakenusa.teuteuf.fr guess U.S. state in photo and then answer bonus questions
MOVIEDLE: likewise.com/games/moviedle guess a movie by 1-second incremental mash-up clips
FLIKTOK: fliktok.app guess the movie with six still frames
FLIKTOK SHOW: fliktok.show Fliktok for TV shows
FRAMED: framed.wtf same as Fliktok
EPISODE: episode.wtf Framed for TV
PLOTWORDS: plotwords.com/daily guess the movie with as few plot keywords as possible
And my current favorite:
REDACTLE: redactle.net a wikipedia article with all of the words blocked out except conjunctions, articles, and "to be" verbs. How many words will you have to guess before you can fill in the article title?

Or, when it comes to discussing media
Paragraph 1: Any sane and normal arguement Paragraph 2: but actually, pluralists say that everything u see on ur tv is actually real life, so there.
Constructing arguements in sociology is rly just:
Paragraph 1: This woman who spent a lot of time and money into several research methods concluded that capitalism often tries to sell women a beauty standard that is unachievable, leading them to buy products to help them achieve it, leading to them profiting off of womens artifically manufactured insecurites
Paragraph 2: HOWEVER, this other guy who got drunk one night and wrote down some random bullshit in his personal diary says that actually womens only job is to look after men and so it's their job to wear pretty makeup.

How I've been bonding with my uni housemates
Uni is scary and getting to know the people I'm living with is also scary so here's how i've been bonding with them
C: C is a very responsible man, and he's kinda been looking after the rest of us. I'm bonding with C by trying to show him that I too, am responsible, but also asking for his help with things that I can't entirely figure out. C seems to enjoy being the go-to man for all our troubles.
H: H is by far the easiest to bond with. They are really similar to me, and we've already signed up for the same clubs so i see no difficulties in us becoming close friends. My go to method with H is to stand in the kitchen while they cook and yap.
J: J is super super shy, but doing the same course as me! I've been dragging them with me to all our lectures and sitting next to them and generally trying to make the uni thing less anxiety inducing for her.
W: W is scary. They are so cool and so so intimidating. I have been sitting next to them in the smoking area and smoking in silence with them. This seems to be working.
A: I know very little about A other than his collection of dead wasps. There's a wasp nest outside his window and the wasps come in and he kills them and puts them in a plastic cup. I've been enjoying the wasps pics in the gc.
O: O lives in the room above mine so i have been bonding by texting him to see if he is ok when i hear loud ceiling noises. I have also been bonding by asking him what he's up to when I see him and this man looks genuinely shocked to be asked questions about himself.
L: L lives in the room next to mine and we have been bonding by being the only two people on the bottom floor of the house. She is only 17 and an international student and this makes me want to look after her. Her hair is awesome.
#university#housemates#flatmates#my autistic ass#Autism makes me want to catagorise my housemates and study them like they're in a documentry#Wwdits style

im not even the type of guy to go "actually it's frankenstein's MONSTER" because a painting by rembrandt or picasso or any other artist is often called "a rembrandt" or "a picasso" as shorthand. so in this respect frankenstein's monster can be considered "a frankenstein"

Reblogging to confirm from personal experience SSRIs (anti-depressants) can lower your heat tolerance- mostly due to it messing with sweat glands. It can cause heat-stroke and stuff too. So if you're on any SSRI be careful in the heat. SNRIs and Tricyclic antidepressants can apparently do the same thing too. Also everyone with POTs and autonomic dysfunctions be careful because your sweat glands are probably already a bit messed up.
psa to everyone on antipsychotics during the summertime
some antipsychotics can make you more susceptible to heat exhaustion because they make it so your body cannot regulate your body temperature correctly. I learned this the hard way last summer, I got really nasty heat exhaustion while on a high dose of quetiapine. so check if your meds react badly to heat, and if they do, please be sure to wear your sunscreen, have light cover ups on or with you, wear a hat, and stay hydrated! be safe
