"You know," Zelda looked up from her food. "I wanna ask you something."

Link found himself somewhat distracted by the way the fire reflected in her eyes and practically made her skin glow. His brain processed that he was supposed to answer and he snapped back to focus. "Huh, what?"

She giggled slightly, a rhythmic sound. "You in there, sleepyhead?"

"Of course!" To prove it, he took a very aggressive and exaggerated bite of his meat, which just made her laugh again.

"Stop making me laugh! I'm trying to ask you something!" She cleared her throat, nodding a moment. "Ahem, yes. You know, I've seen you playing the harp before."

Link subconsciously glanced at the mentioned instrument positioned against the log by his feet. "What about it?"

"Well...why don't you sing for me?"

His face immediately flushed and he quickly shook his head. She frowned. "Why not?"

"I don't sing. Especially not around people."

"Oh, surely you sound amazing! You should sing!"

Link groaned. "Zelda..."

It was too late. Once she got the idea into her head, there was no stopping it; no changing her mind. That was her decided course of action and she would not be derailed, least of all by Link's discomfort. "Sing for me, sing for me!"

She was on her feet, suddenly grabbing the harp and stuffing it into his hands. He made a startled noise as she basically grabbed his hand and put into position before plopping back into her seat. She now stared at him expectantly. 

Link felt like he was going to suffocate from embarrassment. "Zelda."

Then she gave him the smile. That one special look that always made him give in to whatever she was asking. He sighed. "Okay."

She clapped her hands together, leaning forward excitedly with a look of anticipation. "You should play the Ballad of the Goddess! That one's easy enough."

He swallowed thickly, nodding once and with a nervous breath, began to play the opening notes. Zelda's staring was making him nervous, so he closed his eyes as he began to sing, "Oh youth, guided by the servant of the Goddess, unite earth and sky, and bring light to the land."

Zelda's eyes widened. He had a fairly deep voice and it practically resonated around them as he sung. She found herself leaning closer.

His eyes were still closed. "Oh youth, show the two whirling sails the way to the Light Tower...and before you a path shall open, and a heavenly song you shall hear."

He plucked out the final notes, eyes opening slowly. Under any other circumstances he would've jumped, because Zelda was practically in his personal space, but instead he stared calmly into her eyes. It took her a moment to get her thoughts together, trying to get past the intense way he was staring. "Link...that was beautiful."

He blushed slightly, lowering the harp back down to the ground. "Thank you."

"Why haven't I heard you sing before?"

A shrug. "I was too shy about it, I guess."

That made sense to her. "Well. Thank you for singing for me."

He blushed again, smiling a bit. "It was no problem."

She yawned, and he smiled, patting the spot next to him on the log. She gladly took the invitation, automatically resting her head on his shoulder. She felt the light pressure of his chin and as she stared into the fire, she heard him softly begin again.

"Oh youth, guided by the servant of the Goddess, unite earth and sky..."

With his voice softly resonating around her, she closed her eyes and fell asleep on his shoulder.

is there any die hard skyward sword fans in the loz fandom?? and preferably aren’t 30… I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS GAME SOMEWHERE AND I HAVENT SOMEONE WHOS MATCHED MY CRAZY IN MONTHS.

I don't care what anyone says... Skyward Sword Link is one of my favorite versions of Link.

Not only is he the OG, but he's also genuinely one of the best portrayed. Like he's a Link who has way more emotion and soul put into him and it fucking infuriates me that these fans in the LOZ community hated Skyward Sword so much when it came out.

Skyward Link is one of the few Links who feels like he could be a real person. He's literally some lazy ass dork who is essentially a nepo baby because his bff and soulmate is Zelda and then is forced to buck up and actually do something. Not only that, but SS Link has the best character model AND expressions (in my opinion)

Also just a quick side note; this Link is the only incarnation of Link who I wanna give a forehead kiss and a big fluffy blanket because he looks EXHAUSTED all the time. Which makes sense, because he's having like the worst week/month of his life actively, but god does this poor guy need a fucking hug and a nap.
