Nobody probably cares but the chibi and tall self portraits actually resemble my two major “personalities” in a way. The chibi version is me unmasking my autistic tendencies in front of people I’m comfortable with. (autism more like awetism. Like the word awesome. Okay I’ll shut up now.) That one is also snarkier, a bit rude, and loud. Normally proportioned me is basically the more quiet and reserved version, typically not really speaking much.

If I was to actually use these for something like a comic or anything (which I want to, I’m just lazy) I’d probably have tall me like never speak while the chibi me is so loud

Idk if it’s the autism but I have little guys that resemble each major side of me, like I have a little messy doodle guy that’s just the stress and anger I don’t really express (I’m not angry often so they’re super tiny and scribbly). I also have a more cartoony guy to represent the side of me that won’t shut up about my interests.

No idea if this is weird or anything, I just have an easier time thinking and I guess expressing how I feel through little guys that are just drawings of me. So shrug I guess

Who am I?

I go by Altair (my name) or either Captain or Tartar (nickname based on my username)! Any of the three are fine. To any IRL friends or anyone that knows me by any other name, please don’t use those here

I’m going to be a film student come this fall! I’m currently a senior in high school, and I’ve already committed to an art school!

I identify as both a lesbian and on the AroAce spectrum! I’m also Genderqueer, and I use They/Them pronouns!

I also have ADHD, Autism, and dyslexia. Most of my posts will be centered around my interests

My interests:

I’m really into Splatoon, especially Octo Expansion! My favorite character is Commander Tartar, my name in splat3 is even CmdrTartar (if you see me, tag me! I always have “The Original ω-3 Fan” as my title!

I’m super into Salmonid lore, they’re my favorite thing to research in Splatoon. They’re super important to my AU that I’m writing as well!

I also play lots of Minecraft, Fortnite, Roblox, and a few other random games. I have a hyperfixation on Dandy’s World at the moment, which is fun

I’m really into space! I actually started going by Altair after the star, which is awesome sauce. My favorite thing to talk about that’s space related is Skylab! I have stamps, patches, and coins that relate to it. It’s genuinely one of the top 3 things for me

Hobbies:

I’m really into art and writing! I plan on uploading my Splatoon AU to AO3 sometime in the future, I just need to wrap up some general world building and characters. I also need to get a beta reader or two

I do art as well, I really like character design! If I wasn’t going to school for film, I’d probably go for something related to character design and development. I love giving every little doodle of mine a whole personality. (I have so many ref sheets to make for Artfight HAHA)

Of course, I’m into film! Like I’ve said, I’m going to school for that after I graduate, which I’m excited for. I’m also into photography as well, I may post the occasional photo dump

OBSCURE SPLATOON LORE FACT OF THE DAY:

Commander Tartar is alive.

No, seriously. It's not going to reunite with the Professor any time soon.

How do I know this?

Well, Chaos vs. Order, the 2019 Splatfest, takes place after Octo Expansion does.

Pearl mentions Eight and Cap'n Whoeverthefuckitwas in the announcement dialogue, and the special stage MC.Princess Diaries features the sunken NILS Statue that would later show up on Hammerhead Bridge.

What does this have to do with Tartar?

Well, it participated. On Marina's team.

This is official artwork of the Telephone and C.Q. Cumber as members of Team Order. Tartar has the tentacle emerging from the sanitized ink dripping out of the telephone box. This is its appearance after Agent 3 busts up the phone box. This suggests further that the picture is from after OE.

Tartar's quote for Team Order is "THESE FAILED PROTOTYPES, ENDLESSLY WARRING FOR TURF...". It still speaks, and it's powerless to destroy Inkopolis now, but it still very much mentions its distate for inkfish society - it is capable of speaking, and as much it detests the fact that inkfish kill each other for fun (humans would never, right?), it still chooses the shiniest of two turds, Marina's Team Order.

The Splatfest promotional artworks are 100% canon.

One thing I will say, whether intentional or not on the writers' part, is that Marina accidentally fulfilled Tartar's dream. Tartar wanted to mash everyone up into one consciousness to stop them from fighting each other (as per Nogami interview Oct. 2018, and its dialogue about "blend[ing] into the perfect world").

That's, I think, the most interesting thing about its character. It's not a generic "evil empire" supervillain, not really a "mad AI" at all. It's still following its programming and genuinely trying to help everyone by mashing them into living slime.

How do I know that the slime is conscious? Well, you can hear voices coming from it (as per blender cutscene, they sing Auld Lang Syne backwards), it has a will of its own that overrides Octarians' minds (that's how sanitization works), and Marina mentions in her dev diaries in Side Order that sometimes the same mem cake (conscious thought) belongs to multiple Octoling bodies mixed together.

Marina accidentally fulfilled Tartar's dream in creating the Memverse, a world where all consciousness is mixed together as a collective, emotionless hivemind of calm. She mentions in the Chaos vs. Order announcement that she started working on her "perfect world", suggesting that Marina might have been inspired by Tartar after defeating it.

That's some food for thought.
