Daily dose of positivity: On October 16th, a critically endangered Eastern Mountain Bongo calf was born at a Safari park in England. This is the first bongo calf born at the park in over 10 years, and there are fewer than 100 Eastern Mountain Bongos left, making them the world's most endangered species of antelope, which means that this little guy is a very important baby.

I may be too chicken to go out and protest publicly, but I’m proud to be a neurodivergent, queer woman and I’m not going to let Cheeto man tell me how to live my life

Delicious, finally some good fucking news
(For anyone who somehow doesn’t know in the USA we just had our presidential election and the man who won is a noted homophobe and just all around bigot, so a lot of queer people here are freaking out right now)

See, I have conflicted feelings on stuff like this because yes, you should let your partner vote on their own because they’re their own person but at the same time in this day and age so much of politics and voting is tied up with morality and can you really have a healthy relationship with someone if your morals are that different?
Don’t let anyone silence your voice or steal your power, which is your vote.
Your vote is private. Your vote is your own.
Vote accordingly.

For the first time in my life, I hate having a January birthday. I just wanted to look forward to turning 20 without it meaning my country was creeping closer to becoming a literal dystopian novel, was that too much to ask?

you know what. piss off someone who voted red and have a fantastic day. do the productive thing that you have been putting off. put away that thing in your room you’ve been walking past for the last three weeks. throw out the expired food in your fridge. make yourself a cute little drink. brush your hair. send an email. call that person back. eat a snack. go on a walk. open your mail. fold your laundry. hope is only dead if you let it die.

To the men who voted for Donald Trump today:
When your girlfriend gets pregnant, and you’re not ready to become a father, and you’re forced into a position that cripples you emotionally, financially and irreversibly, remember: you did this.
When your sister’s pregnancy turns out to be ectopic, and she can’t get the life-saving medical care she needs and dies a completely pointless, preventable death, remember: you did this.
When your 12-year-old daughter is raped by her soccer coach — after he’s legally allowed to strip off her pants and peep at her genitals, because the existence of trans kids terrifies you — and she steals your shotgun and kills herself in your garage, remember, first and foremost: you did this.
Hundreds of thousands of people are going to die because of the decision you made today.
You did that.

please think of the disabled people of gaza. please think of the diabetic people of gaza. please think of the neurodivergent people of gaza. please think of those whose lives are relying on medicine that has either stopped coming in due to the blockade, or is available in such scarcity that its price has skyrocketed.
we're approaching winter. on top of the challenge of securing waterproof tents and sufficiently warm clothing, some diabetic people in gaza have stopped taking their insulin as they can no longer afford it. those who are able to acquire it for now know every shot may be their last.
