Textile design technique called Screen Printing begins with making stencils. One stencil for each color. The most complex designs can require making a dozen of them!   Here I only made two for this roaring creature. ⁣How do they combine? Think of Photoshop or Illustrator layers, that would be a similar thing.

What do tailors eat? ⁣ 🇺🇸🇷🇺 Here is one item from my menu, called tailor’s ham. This firm oval pillow is on the list of my little helpers. ⁣ ⁣ Whenever I need to press a curvy seam open with an iron, I use the ham. ⁣ This tool looks simple a brick but has curves of various sizes and I always can choose how to place my seam over it and work the curve nicely. ⁣ ⁣ Collars, pockets, necklines, small folds, sleeve caps, waistlines, darts, just to name a few, benefit from curved pressing. ⁣⁣ 1851 ⁣⁣ The zipper envisioned by the first inventor Elias Howe was far from convenient, bulky, and its creator gained better fame for the invention of the lockstitch sewing machine.⁣⁣

⁣⁣ 1891 ⁣⁣ Whitcomb Judson created a reasonably competent zipper for a friend who suffered from a back injury and was unable to bend over and tie his boots. The invention was shown at an exhibition at the Chicago World's Fair. Still, it did not generate interest due to the perceived complexity for the user. A two-page manual was issued, but this did not help make the project commercially successful.⁣⁣
