Big House, Little House - 09.05.09

Also it is Korra’s 28th birthday today, bee tee dubs. And Inara turns 2.

But not before Runi finally got to show off a move that was definitely not an échappé but we’ll give her credit anyway. Also she wanted to chat with her dad for a sec.

But eugh

Then Korra decided to sneak a lil kiss before heading off to work, finally. Gross.

Anyway ding dong midnight we’ll switch to Bolin’s familia next.

Anyway, after the recital, the kids were feeling chatty and wanted some one-on-one time with their parents. But at the same time... Mako was still hella tired, getting hungry, and he wasn’t alone. It also was hitting midnight, so I started sending everyone home.

Anyway, they bolt over to the school to watch her recital, which takes place in a rabbit hole. And since I hate that I decided to take the time to pose out my own take on the dance recital so you guys have something to look at. Again--the ballet pictures themselves are posed, not the usual gameplay.

I worked in every student in the ballet class, and their closest parents. Some of them, like Kayla’s daughter, has a parent they’re not on good terms with, so they only had one parent. But that’s how Malina and Korra’s parents ended up coming too!

Also I had to get all the other girls dressed in their ballerina outfits, if they had them, but one of them was wearing a hot dog outfit, and I couldn’t bear to take it off. Plus it reminded me of this hilarious little girl, so I decided to leave her in her hot dog outfit.

If you ever wonder how they have their act so “together” just remember that this hallway with dirty clothes, strewn toys, a sleeping toddler, two dogs, two ‘panicking’ 20-somethings, only 1 of 3 kids they need to get in the car, and a done-with-it-all police chief is with two of the toddlers penned and two extra adults living with them in the household. Also Lin’s off, so she can stay and “help” Yin watch the triplets while Mako and Korra take their older sons to support their sister at her recital.

It’s about this time that Mako gets off of work and Korra heads to the bathroom to prepare for her shift of her job. And even though he’s still making bank:

My boy’s WIPED OUT. Enough that even though there’s plenty things to do, he decides to head upstairs for cat nap before Dad Duty starts back up. But then! We get a notification that not only did Runi learn a new move in ballet, but she’s got a DANCE RECITAL TONIGHT!

So MAKO WAKE UP WE’RE LATE FOR THE DANCE RECITAL NOBODY TOLD US ABOUT UNTIL RIGHT NOW!!!!

Korra does wake up not too long after, once she’s hungry. (I see, I see.) She snags some of Lin’s salad and decides to eat in the den for some odd reason, just barely missing Grandma Yin’s super fancy, uhhh, potato and truffle torte??? Dang there are recipes in here I still don’t know about.

Oh! And Emi has learned to talk in the playpen. Look at that cute.

Even Korra’s gotta smile on her way to do the dishes.

Not much else to report for a bit. Kesuk loses his mind for a bit and starts screaming his head off for no apparently reason--his mood is happy but he’s screaming. I fill in the idea that he “wants” to get down the stairs, so have Grandma Yin--who just woke up--come to rescue.

Meanwhile, Korra’s still “sleeping” even though her SLEEP BAR IS FULL and she could wake up whenever she wants.

(She doesn’t want rn.)

On the other side of town, Mako’s strugglin’ a lil bit from not sleeping as much.

Now, while the kids are at school, and Mako and Lin are at work, things still happen for them, so I’m bundling all that here.

She also got complementary tickets to a probending game, so I think she and her mom might like to go check that out--or we can make it a whole family thing if I get back to them soon enough

Both the boys wanted to sing up for clubs, so I looked at their personalities. Atka doesn’t really have any big indicators on his tastes so I put him in scouting, since that’s most related to his love of cats. Ryu’s artsy so he went to art club.

All three kids are going to tour the graveyard for another field trip together.

I like the contrast of opportunities that were generated for Mako and Lin’s jobs. Mako’s gotta make nice with a potential informant. Lin’s gotta bring in a bunch of wine.

So the morning’s pretty straight-forward, since there’s only a few characters awake and free to move about. Mako stops on his way to breakfast to scold Koko for trying to eat the door posts. Here’s what she looked like in the act:

He eats the last of the pie and then heads out the door to get to work on time.

While that’s going on, Lin wakes up at some point in a very bad mood, possibly hangry. Since Mako swiped the last of the leftovers, she decides to make herself a salad for breakfast before heading to work herself.

Back! to! School!

And, guess what? Turns it’s the fist weekday of Fall, and that means... school’s back in session! So while all the adults sleep in, Kids 1, 2 and 3 pop awake (Naga gives Aruna a little extra help, to her displeasure). Ryu pops into Runi’s room to get some homework done early. Atka serves himself a slice of pie for breakfast. Emi and Riku entertain themselves in the pen.

You know, cute fluffy stuff.

I'm so glad to see you posting again! I loved this blog back when it was really active and it makes me want to read back through and remember everything going on.

By the time Korra gets home (where she turns into her fancy dress for some reason), Grandma and Lin are asleep and Kesuk is needing a diaper change. She cleans him up, and then both she and Mako tuck in for bed as the sun’s coming up.
