Colin punching Guillermo multiple times was funny, but also really suspicious. Especially when Colin said he didn’t know why he did it.
Remember when Colin realized something was up with Evie bc he couldn't sense anything from her? And then they had a showdown in the office?
Tumblr media
In scenes where Colin and Guillermo have interactions, Colin does annoying things (has his interview outside while Guillermo is sleeping and cleaning up the lawn when there is nothing to clean) and Guillermo just gets mad. But do we see Colin feed off of it? Maybe Colin isn't able to feed off Guillermo in the same way anymore?
And remember the sleeping Colin in the car when Guillermo was driving to find Nandor?
There’s already been a scene when Nandor yawns after Guillermo speaks.
Something's really really off.
This is one reason why I believe Guillermo is an energy vampire, but just not fully formed yet. Colin subconsciously doesn't know how to react to him.

last night’s wwdits episode was sooooo good omg?
i really hope that they’re going to make guillermo an energy vampire. i keep thinking about how colin said he didn’t know why he was beating guillermo up like that. i keep thinking about how, in season 3, we had no real clues about colin’s storyline for the season until the very end. im feeling sort of similar about guillermo’s storyline this season.
him becoming an energy vampire would just wrap things up for his character sooooo nicely.
also laszlo being confronted with sean’s mortality was deeply depressing but once again here comes the theme of humanity being That One Thing that they all want but can’t have.
Oh & a mention (again!) of why the doc crew is there/what their purpose is for making the documentary. i have literally never ever given it thought before this season, but that’s the second or third time they’ve made a point to bring it up??
so much happening! hopefully they can wrap everything up nicely

Can we talk about the parallel between Guillermo's turning and un-turning.
His turning went so wrong, it wasn't what he wanted at all. We know our crazy, dramatic baby. He wanted a ceremony, he wanted it to be romantic and soft, he wanted vows and sacred words. He wanted to slowly expose his neck, he wanted whispered words, he wanted to feel safe and cherished. He wanted to be asked and be held and be seen and be accepted.
What he got instead was a badly lit horrifying ordeal. He had to take charge. Derek had no idea what he was doing. It happened in a backroom of a store, they kept getting interrupted by Derek's boss asking him to clean out toilets. Derek fucked up his bite. He almost died. "Have you done this before". Derek fainting. Blood everywhere. Anticlimactic, disappointing, not at all the culmination of his life long dream, of decades of service and love.
His un-turning on the other hand.
Oh Nandor knows him. He made up a ritual for him with a suitably dramatic name: "The Ceremony of Vampiric Transmogrification". He dressed him in robes which he put on him so softly and spoke to him so kindly beforehand. He got all the other vampires ready for him. He hung banners and lit candles. He wrote and spoke vows and sacred words to him. He gave him a choice and asked him a question. And when he got his answer he took charge and made sure everything went exactly as it should. He made Guillermo feel seen and loved and accepted, even if it broke his heart.

say what you want about wwdits s5 but the finale is soooo delicious for Nandermo. Like Guillermo has committed supposedly one of the biggest cardinal sins in vampire custom and supposedly humiliated Nandor beyond belief, but Nandor can’t stay angry with him for longer than two minutes because he’d miss him too much.
And instead of just forgiving him and moving on, instead of just dropping the matter, Nandor goes out of his way to ensure that Guillermo is happy with being a vampire, and when it turns out he isn’t, Nandor commits a cardinal sin of his own and kills Derek in the name of Guillermo’s happiness.
don’t listen to what he tells you, Nandor the Relentless will relent over and over and over again for Guillermo de la Cruz.

THE WEDDING PLANNER (2001) WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS | 4.06 (2022)
You know, I’ve always dreamed of having a big wedding. Or at least since that time that we watched The Wedding Planner on that rainy Sunday together.

idk if i’m truly just delusional to a concerning degree but i’m really not worried about nandor & the guide! i kind of get why everyone is freaking out but i just dont feel like the writers are quite that like…careless? thoughtless?
nandor’s entire romantic history on the show always ends in disappointment. i’ve seen others say this but i really think the guide is a plot device to make nandor realize his feelings for guillermo.
also, did anyone notice how the guide looked at nandor a few episodes ago when he said goodbye awkwardly? also also, the guide very clearly has an interest in jerry. idk their whole deal yet but that pairing feels like it makes more sense than nandor x the guide.
if they were to randomly pair them up as endgame, they would have wasted the past 5 seasons of buildup between nandor & guillermo.
despite the “nothing ever changes” theme, i just don’t see that as a possibility. the writers are genuinely better than that!!!

I don't know why the writers are hinting towards Nandor having romantic interest in The Guide but honestly, I'm not too worried.
May I remind you that Nandor has a pattern of romanticizing people and briefly settling in toxic relationships when he is lonely and depressed.
He liked Meg simply because she gave him good customer service.
He adored Gail who strung him along for decades and tossed him aside like he was nothing as soon as she was turned.
He joined a cult and slept with Jan who was manipulating and brainwashing him when he was most vulnerable and emotionally unstable.
He selected Marwa to marry because she was the wife that least threatened his ego and then wished her to have zero free will, changed her personality and transformed her into an entirely new person.
He became obsessed with Freddie simply because he was Guillermo's boyfriend and since he was miserable in his own relationship, he sabotaged Guillermo's relationship.
My point is Nandor's coping mechanism for his eternal loneliness and losing Guillermo is seeking out shallow relationships. We only have 5 episodes left and the writers must be planting seeds for a reason. I just can't imagine the writers being this careless and pairing Nandor with The Guide last minute. Keep in mind, the writers were green lit for seasons 5 and 6 at the same time. If they were really going to scrap Nandermo and push Nandor and The Guide, then it would have made more sense to plant seeds of a budding relationship between the two at the beginning of season 5. So why now?
As much as I like The Guide and Kristen Schaal, her character has always been a plot device. In my opinion, her entire story arch in season 5 was for the writers to have a reason as to why Nandor would be in a cage when Guillermo confesses to betraying him. Nandor needed to be restrained somehow in that moment to prevent him from killing Guillermo right then and there.
My prediction is that if Nandor makes a move on The Guide then she will be the one to call him out for only showing interest in her because he's lonely. I'd like to think that The Guide has enough self-respect to not reciprocate (I admit that I haven't watched 6x06 yet) since he was so aloof and rude to her all last season and barely had any memorable or meaningful interactions with her in earlier seasons. Maybe if Nandor is called out, he'll realize the error of his ways and admit that what he truly wants is Guillermo.

so episode 5 was really something!
i feel like i have been a nandermo truther since, idk, the s3 finale? but this season things feel SO much different. like yeah we’ve had guillermo’s feelings out there for awhile, knowing that there was no way because of how often nandor rejected affection from him.
but this season….the writers are truly cooking. the fact that nandor & guillermo’s roles have shifted entirely, the first 4 out of 5 episodes have had some sort of heavy interaction between the two of them, and we just keep seeing how nandor is slowly piecing together that oh. maybe there isn’t any logical reason for he & guillermo to still be together.
except for that one thing! let’s call back to “i have often thought during my search for a wife that the answer has been under my nose this whole time” maybe that’s something worth recalling!
still fully onboard that paul simms has been fucking with us in interviews so that he doesnt give away their entire plot/endgame. because like…that’s sort of what makes sense for him to do anyways?
yeah s6 has been crazy so far. the fact that they just addressed some of their issues in ep 5 & we still have 6 to go is wild. idk how they’re going to do it, but they’re going to

The thing is, Guillermo being too kind and pure of heart to eat humans was always a fucking lie. Like??? Obviously, I think. And the Cannon Capital arc isn't really a departure for his character, it's us seeing all his worst traits highlighted in an environment that makes them MUCH less fun and sympathetic.
Guillermo has always been an intensely stubborn, self-serving character prone to tunnel vision who was willing to turn over pretty much every corner of his soul if it served his goals. Even if he did sometimes feel bad about it or force himself not to think about it so he wouldn't feel bad, he still did it.
He's still the guy who befriended people with the express purpose of luring them in to be killed. For years. He's still the guy who offered one of his oldest friends up to be murdered at an orgy, and only changed his mind at the very last second. He's still the guy whose version of trying to have a normal human life for once involved lying to pretty much every human in his life--his bio family and his boyfriend--about every aspect of his life but his name. He's still the guy who dismembered the corpses of his victims--yes they're still his victims even if he didn't strike the killing blows himself--in the front yard each morning with a dreamy smile on his face as he talked about the heart wanting what it wants.
Sacrificing Nandor to serve his goals at Cannon Capital is really not that different than sacrificing Jeremy to serve his goals as Nandor's familiar, except that in this case he had a lot more time to think about it and still did it, not via silence or omission but via a direct act of betrayal to Nandor's face. Perhaps it's because he never had to suffer any real consequences for his betrayal of Jeremy that no lessons were learned?
It's also really telling that when you reset Guillermo to his base state via sleep hypnosis, it's the sweetest, most wide-eyed and innocent version of him and STILL the first thing he does is offer himself up to be a vampire's familiar, all in a bid to have enough power that he can't ever be bullied again.
It's understandable. It's reprehensible. It's really ugly in a way that's harder to laugh off when you attach that to an extremely timely, familiar (heh) real-world scenario such as a venture capital firm that makes their money through shady real-estate deals that absolutely gut local livelihoods. But the Guillermo we're seeing right now is just as tunnel-visioned and stubborn and selfish as the Guillermo we've always known. We just very understandably like him less for it when it's real-world monsters we've all seen ruin real lives instead of fantasy monsters that are silly and fun to watch.
But this isn't out of character or off course or a step back. Guillermo is deep in denial and clinging to the Cannon Capital job because he can't face what he's lost as of the end of season 5. He's replaced Nandor with a master that's worse in every way, he's still clinging to the house while pretending he's separating himself, he's still sleeping on the remains of the makeshift coffin Nandor bought for him. He tells himself he is facing it and moving on, but I hope this time we all know that's a lie.
And I'm here for it when it all falls down around his ears, and he finally has to face himself. I'm really excited for it, actually!
