Touched at Olivia’s excitement upon seeing her, Nora waited patiently as the other girl parked her car. She had thought the girl might come to the house, but hadn’t thought to call and double check before arriving. Her decision to come to the house had been rather last minute, after all, brought on by the steadily approaching end of her lease back in Rochester. Pulled out of her thoughts by the all but sprinting Olivia, Nora was quick to return the hug. The two girls had been unbelievably close when they were younger, and it was a relief to see her again, things sliding back into place despite the years apart.
“I’ve missed you too, Livvy! I’m sure you’ve had time to work on that aim, though, huh? Maybe without the brutalized dolls, though,” she teased lightly, moving back from the hug hesitantly. Despite Avery and Olivia having been nearer in age, her and Nora had always been closer. Their interests just seemed to line up, and both girls were rather quiet and withdrawn at times.
I know your sibling can be a bit of a gossip. The sentence caused ice to trickle into the girl’s veins, hands tapping lightly against her thighs to distract herself from the other girl’s words. Focusing on Olivia’s question instead, she nodded her head at the other girl. “I did. Mom mentioned what your father did; we were shocked to hear about it. I’m really sorry about everything, Livvy. You’ve been doing okay, though, right?”
“Oh, I-I’m sorry, I know I shouldn’t attack Avery, she’s a really sweet girl,” Olivia said upon noticing the other’s hands tapping her thighs. “Um, yeah, I just... the things he said to me... that I wasn’t going to get anywhere if people found out, that I was a disgrace to and a stain on the family name... it was just awful, I couldn’t stay there any longer. I do feel bad about leaving my stepbrother and stepsister behind though...” She looked down at her hands, which were folded neatly in her lap, and twiddled her fingers a bit. “Yeah, I actually improved my aim. You’d be surprised at how bored you get sitting in a classroom with a math teacher that drones on and on and on about how to do the simplest equations. She overexplained everything, like, I could have fallen asleep and she wouldn’t have noticed. But, anyways, how’ve you been? How’s Avery?” Olivia then remembered her present that she had in her purse for Nora. “Oh, hey, before I forget,” she stated happily, pulling out a box with a diamond necklace with half a heart and ‘N’ inscribed on it, “here. It’s something special that I’m sure you’ll love since I wasn’t sure I’d see you this summer.” She bit her lip as she held out the box, not sure if she would take it. “I had to work overtime to pay for it at the local bakery.”

The familiar voice caught the girl’s attention quickly, and within a few seconds Nora was already turned around and halfway to Olivia’s beloved Presley. “Olivia!” Her voice was bright, smile excited as she looked through the window at her cousin. “I’m glad you found the house alright. It’s an odd driveway, isn’t it?”
Glancing over at where a few other vehicles could be seen from across the lawn, she lifted one hand to gesture to the makeshift parking space. “I’m not sure if it’s necessarily designated, but a few people have parked over there. If you leave extra space between the cars, I’m sure Presley will remain unharmed.”
“Wait,” she gasped as she recognized the familiar face, “oh, my God, Nora?!” She never thought she’d see her cousin after she ran away, but she’s here?! Nora is actually here?! Maybe this won’t be so bad after all. “Hey, lemme go find somewhere to park Presley and then we can catch up! I haven’t seen you in forever!!” She went to the end of the makeshift parking lot where no other cars were parked, then got out and rushed over to her cousin, embracing her in the tightest of hugs. “Oh, gosh, how’ve you been?! I missed you so much! I still remember when we were little and we used to tear the heads off dolls and see who could shoot theirs into the trash bin first. You always won, of course, you had excellent aim, better than mine, way better.” Okay, Olivia, you’re rambling again. But it’s okay, it’s not about a book this time. It’s about a family member you haven’t seen in so long, so it’s okay, right? Yeah, it’s completely fine to reminisce on the times you spent together before you just up and left her without a word. Hopefully she doesn’t hold that against you or anything. “Hey, did you hear about my running away from home? I know your sibling can be a bit of a gossip.”

What were they doing here? Olivia thought she’d never have to see them again, but here they were. Plain as day, they were standing right here in front of her. “Uh...” she said awkwardly, avoiding any eye contact, “so you’re here. Um, wow. This just got a little more awkward, didn’t it?” A nervous chuckle escaped her throat, and then she started playing with her hair, something she did when she was nervous. “How-How’d you get here? I-I thought... I thought you, uh... wouldn’t be interested in this type of job.” Livvy’s eyes shifted from one side to the other, trying desperately not to make any sort of eye contact. Why did they make her feel this way?

he spent a lot of his time outside, not wanting to be in the house, afraid of what was going to happen in there. everything was different since the funerals. he was half way through his third cigarette when he heard cars pulling up outside. he wasn’t sure why or how they were entering, especially since the group couldn’t get out. his head was going to wander now, great. there had to be a way out. somehow.
“there’s no special place to park but i wouldn’t do that if i were you.” he was sure she was stuck now. more people to terrorize, he supposed. this wasn’t going to be fun for them, either. they were in for it. he shook his head. “just park wherever.”
“Um, thanks,” she replied hesitantly, needing a drag even though she swore to herself that she would never pick up a cigarette in her entire life. However, the stresses of the drive as well as the overall demeanor of the house set her on edge, and she needed to stimulate her nerves somehow. “Hey, you got another one of those? I’m in desperate need of one. Let me go park and then I can come over, we can have a smoke together.” She gave a polite smile and drove Presley over to the car park without waiting for a response, nervous about leaving him here, but it’d have to do. She said a quick bye to her car, as well as a ‘Love you, be safe’ before gently closing his door and getting her books and suitcases out of the back. Making her way back over to the guy, she plopped down in front of him, taking a pack out of her suitcase and handing it to him. “Here, a thank you gift for being... somewhat polite. Now may I please have a cigarette?” Her nerves were already getting jumpy, and she loved it, it was almost like a metaphorical high.

“I personally think it’s rather beautiful,” Olivia commented as she hauled her suitcase full of books--and travel essentials, she’s not that obsessed with reading, though admittedly, her essentials were nothing more than the clothes she purchased with what little money she had, travel-sized toothpaste, deodorant, toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and her passport--and a little bag containing her novel that she planned on finishing over the time she was here, “hazardous, though?” Her hand replaced the other’s on the doorframe, curious as to what Honey was talking about. Ah, there it was. The door, though sturdy-looking, creaked very loudly when anything came into contact with it... yeah, that was hazardous considering its strength, plus it looked like it may fall apart at the seams. “Uh, is there a way around the back?” No way in hell was she using that door to save her life.
Honey’s yellow suitcase toppled to the ground at the door of the house, the door looking larger and sturdier than she expected. A feeling of discomfort washed over her, blue eyes wide and filled with both awe and something else – something that most people no longer possessed, a faraway storybook emotion. She raised one finger to press against the detail of the door frame, “Beautifully, hazardous,” she pulled her finger back away as if it had been burned.

Olivia was nervous as she drove Presley to the mansion. God, it was way larger than she’d anticipated or what she got from the advertisement. Her shaking hands gripped the wheel of her ‘64 Ford Mustang, which probably looked so old compared to the other, newer models nowadays, but she loved her car almost as much as she loved to read, and that’s a lot. She could feel the hairs on the back of her neck stand up as she rode up to the car park, which was... nowhere. Where the hell was it? Oh, great, there was no car park, was there? Dammit. Ah well. She just had to hope at least one of these people could respect her and not bump Presley or break his windows because if not, oh, boy, would there be hell to pay for them. Rolling down her windows, she cleared her throat quietly and called to the first person she saw. “Uh, hey,” she started, nervous as all hell, “do you know where I can park? Or is there not a designated parking space or a parking lot?”

Hello my loves !! I’m Kay, 20 years old, & in the GMT-7 timezone !! & I can’t wait to get to rping with my baby girl Olivia McKenna Brooks !! The reason I chose her to be a bibliophile is bc I love books myself, & I feel the passion with the label, plus she’s quiet & sort of withdrawn, so there’s a lot of myself in her, & I can’t wait to see how she plays out in this wonderful rp !! I finally found my niche w/ her, & I hope ppl will love her just as much as I do !! Huge Kudos to Tea & Cam for making this rp, & I can’t thank them enough for giving me a chance with an OC !! Some info abt my bb & her connections are under the cut, which you can def IM me to plot & flesh out for if you’re also looking for the same connection !!
The link to her Pinterest board, if anyone’s interested in checking it out !!
Triggers: Homo/biphobia, religion ment, parent death, surgery ment, abusive relationships !!
headcanons & backstory !!
Olivia Brooks is the youngest of her two stepsiblings.
Her father married a woman he’d met at work shortly after her birth mother passed away from a surgery complication. She still very much resents him for it, too. Her stepmother and her also have a rocky relationship.
Despite this, Livvy and the oldest stepsibling are very close. They’re like two peas in a pod, always together, and she likes hearing them talk when she’s reading.
She came out as bisexual to her stepsiblings first before going to her parents. Her father was furious, as he was a devout Catholic and believed homosexuality in any form was a sin and deserved severe punishment. She ran away from home just a few days shy of her eighteenth birthday, refusing contact with anybody in her family on both sides for a while.
It was then that she found a job as a cashier and part-time baker for a small bakery at 18, which is where she got her love of cooking from and was able to buy herself an apartment and save up for a used car (it’s her baby, she named it Presley after Elvis Presley, and she takes better care of it than she does herself tbh). She excelled in high school and worked hard to get to where she is today.
Olivia developed her fascination with books on her first night away from home. She was just walking through town searching for shelter when she stumbled across a bookstore that was open. The woman behind the counter was very sweet and let her read past 3 o’clock, and Livvy’s desire to read almost every single book she could get her hands on grew as the time went by. She soon fell asleep in the same spot she was in, a beanbag chair, with a book settled on her chest, and the librarian as well as the counter worker thought she was too sweet to wake, so they left her for a couple hours until closing at 9. She came back every day at the same time, and the librarian eventually built a fort just for her if she fell asleep again because of how often she came.
Olivia had a childhood friend who she loved like a sibling, though they sort of drifted apart after she ran away from home.
Livvy was in a toxic relationship with a guy back in high school, and he was very manipulative and controlling. Luckily, she got out of the relationship fast.
She also met her next ex-boyfriend (the ex connection), and they were a great couple, but it seemed that when they got further into the relationship, there were always problems between them, and one day, she found out he was doing something behind her back (can be with somebody from Batch 1 or 2, can be discussed further w/ other player). This created a very rough patch for them, and she refused to talk to him for months afterward.
She met her girlfriend online and, upon discovering that they would be meeting each other face-to-face at Crenshaw Manor, was hyped up for the trip, so she packed fast.
Olivia thought the advertisement from Crenshaw intriguing, and a co-worker told of the backstory of the house, so she thought it would be very interesting and refreshing to get away from her hometown for a while. Boy, was she in for the time of her life. (We can discuss how her connections joined or met up with her.)
