CAN UV LIGHT KILL THE NEW CORONAVIRUS?
Medically reviewed by Cameron White, M.D., MPH — Written by Jill Seladi-Schulman, Ph.D. on October 22, 2020
Ultraviolet (UV) light is a type of radiation. It has more energy than radio waves or visible light but less energy than X-rays or gamma rays.
You can be exposed to UV light via natural sunlight or through human-made sources like tanning beds.
UV light has been used as a means to kill germs like #bacteria and #viruses. You may have also heard of its use for killing SARS-CoV-2, the new coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
In this article, we’ll explore how UV light is used to kill #germs, how effective it is at eliminating the new coronavirus, and more.
Can UV light kill germs?
There are several types of UV light. They’re classified according to how much energy they have.
Types of UV light
UVA light has the lowest amount of energy. When you’re out in the sun, you’re mainly being exposed to UVA light. Exposure to UVA light has been linked to skin aging and damage.
UVB light sits in the middle of the UV light spectrum. A small portion of sunlight contains UVB light.  It’s the main type of UV light that contributes to sunburns and causes most skin cancers.
UVC light has the most energy. UVC light from the sun is mostly absorbed in the Earth’s ozone, so you’re not normally exposed to it on a daily basis. However, there are various human-made sources of UVC light.
UVC light is the type of UV light that’s most effective at killing germs. It can be used to disinfect surfaces, air, and liquids.
UVC light kills germs like viruses and bacteria through damaging molecules like nucleic acids and proteins. This makes the germ incapable of performing the processes that it needs to survive.
What’s known about UVC light and the new coronavirus?
UVC light can be used to kill the new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2. Let’s look at what the research has discovered about UVC light and this coronavirus so far.
UVC light for disinfecting: LIQUIDS
A recent study in the American Journal of Infection Control (AJIC) investigated using UVC light to kill large amounts of the new coronavirus in liquid cultures.
The study found that UVC light exposure completely inactivated the virus in 9 minutes.
UVC light for disinfecting: SURFACES
Another study, also published in the AJIC, looked at using a specific type of UVC light to kill SARS-CoV-2 on laboratory surfaces. The study found that the UVC light reduced the live coronavirus by 99.7 percent in 30 seconds.
The type of UVC light used in this study is called far-UVC light, which is UVC light between the wavelengths of 207 and 222 nanometers.
Far-UVC light is still damaging to germs but is less of a hazard to your skin and eyes than other types of UVC light.
UVC light for disinfecting: AIR
One study, published in the journal Scientific Reports, explored using far-UVC light to kill two types of human coronaviruses in the air. These two coronaviruses, 229E and OC43, can cause the common cold in humans.
Based off their results with these viruses, researchers estimated that, when applied to current regulatory standards, far-UVC light could kill 99.9 percent of airborne coronaviruses in about 25 minutes. They believe that these findings would extend to SARS-CoV-2 as well.
How is UVC light currently used to kill the new coronavirus?
Because it can effectively inactivate the new coronavirus without using chemicals, UVC light is an attractive option for disinfection. Special lamps that emit UVC light are typically used for this purpose.
Currently, the use of UVC light for disinfection is mostly limited to healthcare settings to disinfect things like surfaces, equipment, operating rooms and personal protective equipment (PPE), such as N95 face masks.
As this information trickles out , most recently one can see it is being used in Offices that offer Acupuncture, Massage and Chiropractic services for disinfecting.
We at the @shoppurplepelican are proud to offer the average hard working American , the same protection that is afforded to the# Healthcare settings and the elite.

SUMMARY
UVC light can effectively kill SARS-CoV-2 or other coronaviruses in liquids, on surfaces, or in the air. Due to the fact that it presents less of a health hazard, far-UVC may be a good option for disinfection.

Bird Watching Can be Fun
A study by Daniel Cox at the Univeristy of Exeter found a positive relationship between good mental health, plentiful #birds and vegetation in neighborhoods. This relationship included reduced likelihood of #depression, #anxiety and #stress.
According to the study, people living in neighborhoods with more birds, shrubs and trees are less likely to suffer from depression, anxiety and stress.
Dr. Cox and his colleagues from the University of Maryland, the University of Queensland in Australia, the British Trust for Ornithology and the University of Exeter in the UK, surveyed mental health in 263 people from different ages, incomes and ethnicities.
“All the participants lived within the urban limits of the so-called ‘Cranfield triangle,’ a region in southern England, UK, comprising the three adjacent towns of Milton Keynes, Luton, and Bedford,” the researchers said.
They found benefits for mental health of being able to see birds, shrubs and #trees around the home, whether people lived in urban or more leafy suburban neighborhoods. They also found that those who spent less time out of doors than usual in the previous week were more likely to report they were anxious or depressed.
“Experiences of nature provide many mental-health benefits, particularly for people living in urban areas. The natural characteristics of city residents’ neighborhoods are likely to be crucial determinants of the daily nature dose that they receive,” the scientists said.
“We demonstrated that of five neighborhood nature characteristics tested, vegetation cover and afternoon bird abundances were positively associated with a lower prevalence of depression, anxiety, and stress.”
“Our study starts to unpick the role that some key components of nature play for our mental well-being,” Dr. Cox said.
“Birds around the home, and nature in general, show great promise in preventative #health care, making cities healthier, happier places to live.”

Unicorns Can be Fun
The #unicorn is a legendary animal that looks like a horse or a goat with a single horn on its forehead. Unicorns are thought to be good and pure creatures with #magical powers. They are strong, often white in color, and difficult to catch.
The unicorn appears in the art of ancient Mesopotamia. Ancient Indian and Chinese myths also told of unicorns.
Chinese myth claims that seeing a unicorn is a good omen. Stories and art about the creature were popular in the Middle Ages in Europe. In Europe the unicorn is a symbol of love and purity.
An ancient Greek historian named Ctesias wrote one of the first reports of the unicorn in about 400 BCE. He said that the unicorn’s horn had many powers. Drinking from the horn would protect the drinker from poison, stomach aches, and other health problems. Ctesias probably was describing the Indian rhinoceros—a real animal with a single horn that Europeans had never seen. In fact, cups made of rhinoceros horn were prized during the Middle Ages because people believed that they came from unicorns.*
*Source and More Information
In Jewish tradition, there is also mention of unicorns.
Over 3,300 years ago, the Israelites built a temporary , portable Tabernacle as they wandered the desert after receiving The Torah. According to The Torah, G-d instructed the Israelites to make one of the roof coverings out of the skin of a mysterious animal called "Tachash".
There is a commentary in the Midrash (an ancient commentary on part of the Hebrew scriptures attached to the Biblical Text) that describes the Tachash as the skin of a unicorn.  The Jewish Sages described the Tachash as a desert animal with a stunning multicolored hide and ONE HORN in the middle of its head.  The skin was made up of 6 colors, and its length was 30 amot (nearly 50 feet).**

7 Simple Tools For Clearing Your Negative Energy
byJesse Golden
Do you ever feel like you're a magnet for attracting negative energy or people? It's important to learn techniques on how to dissolve, transmute and release these energies, as they can affect your health and quality of life. Here are some simple tools that you can incorporate into your daily routine to cleanse and purify yourself from any negativity.
1. Smudge your space
Smudging is an ancient practice or ritual where you burn dried sage or other dried herbs to cleanse a person or area. With sage, sandalwood, mugwort, or other dried herbs in hand, simply light a small corner of the herb and blow it out. It is best to have it in a holder of some kind so that the ash stays intact. I like to use a large clam shell, but a plate will do just fine. If you or someone else is in need of clearing, then let the smoke circulate your body from the crown of your head to the bottom of your feet.
2. Ring bells or wind chimes
The ringing of bells or wind chimes is a common feng shui tool that literally vibrates the negative energies into alignment, creating a positive flow, or chi. A simple way to clear any stagnant or negative energy in your home is to ring a handheld bell throughout your house, or where a negative situation or argument happened. There are also meditative yoga chimes (om tingsha bells) and singing bowls that are great for clearing and aligning your chakras,  and symbolizing a shift in energy; they're often used in Tibetan ceremonies and meditations.
3. Take salt water baths to purify and dissipate negative energy
A healing soak also helps remove built up lactic acid, bringing relief to sore muscles and further aiding in relaxation to help release stress and negativity. I suggest setting an intention while you're soaking to release all negativity and enhance the cleansing of your body and aura.
4. Find the right crystal for you
You can wear crystals as jewelry or keep one in your pocket, purse or home. There are several types of crystals to choose from, each serving a different purpose and carrying unique healing properties. However, when choosing the crystal right for you, let your instinct guide you and you'll naturally gravitate toward the one you need.
5. Cut the cords to the past
Imagine a cord coming from your solar plexus, attached to everyone you've ever known. Have you ever noticed that once you've started to move on from a relationship that no longer served you, you receive a call or contact from that person? I always say they must have felt their cord retracting.
We all unconsciously carry these negative cords from past relationships and experiences that could be weighing us down and preventing us from moving forward. One way to release them is to visualize your cords retracting back into your body, and with each cord you slowly begin to gain your power back.
Another tool is to visually cut the cords associated with negativity. If you're a visual person, then make the motion of actually cutting the cords with your hands in the shape of scissors.
6. Visualize a protective energy field around you
Protect yourself from even being a victim of negative energy to begin with by surrounding yourself with a white light or imaginary bubble each day. I like to imagine a force field around my entire body, and when I'm with loved ones I encompass them too. Another tool is to imagine you're surrounded by mirrors facing outward so you don't absorb anything and instead everything is reflected back out.
7. Incorporate essential oils into your routine
Essential Oils have been used since ancient times to help release negative energy and promote positivity. They have the power to transform a current mood and bring you to a different, positive state of mind. There are hundreds to choose from, so let your spirit guide you as to which ones are best for you.
