~headcanon / explanation / stop hating Trevor It’s come to my attention that people still consider Trevor and Sypha were wrong to leave Alucard alone at the castle. Well, sorry to jump in on this with a maybe unpopular opinion, but THEY WEREN'T.  All of them suffered a loss in their life, and all 3 of them dealt with it on their own. Alucard needed time to grieve, to set his feelings straight. And we can’t expect the tough son of Dracula to open up when the two are still there. He never would have gotten his closure while pretending everything was alright and that he did not just kill his father. The tears at the end? He never would have shed them had they stayed behind. He needed time on his own to set his thoughts straight, to plan what to do next, his own life radically changed and all he had known before was gone. And Alucard is not one to dump his feelings on others and hope they find a solution. He finds it himself. But for that, he also needs time to do his own thing, walk his own path, make his own mistakes.  Not to mention that Trevor had a journey of his own. Expect two guys that always fight to just suddenly hug and cry on each other’s shoulder? Sorry to disappoint, but none of them are like that. That does not mean that Trevor and Sypha didn’t care about him. They only did what real friends do, respected his wishes and knew when he needed his space to grieve on his own. And this as well is an important part of their character and relationship developement, in my opinion. Trust.

[ ☾ ] There is sadness in the dhampir’s eyes, in his heart. Back in the day… The moment his parents were still alive, those times when he tried to be his father’s son. He’d failed. And now the world was what it was, an abyss of loneliness, darkness and responsibility. And a crime he would probably never get over, never cope with, a guilt that would nag at him for the rest of his long, endless days.The now, the present, though, was equally sad, in some way. He did somehow miss the old days, but his times and memories with Sypha and Trevor were also something he would cherish and keep close to his heart. Not that he would ever admit that he liked having them as friends, or that he enjoyed the mindless banter with Trevor. Nor would he ever tell Caesar that he admired his two… friends?… for their courage, commitment and for helping a stranger like him, even if the reason they did it was because it collided with their own interest. Calming his thoughts and steeling his expression, he replies to his faithful companion as casually as he could manage, pushing away painful memories and thoughts of the future, where the two would leave for their own adventure, leave to live their lives, and he would remain here, timeless, unchanged. Alone with the ghosts of the past. “He’s harmless, Caesar. And maybe a welcome change from the fear and hate we usually get. So, let him have his fun.”
