There's something magical about summiting a mountain. We came for a sunset and we left with a scenic view. Mother Nature decided other and we had no choice but to go with the flow. Mt. Tammany and I are very well acquainted. Many days, I have hauled myself up her gravel and rocky face. But this time I hauled myself through rock scramble and slippery wet terrain with nearly twenty-five pounds on my back. I know there's no need but the AT calls for me in less than 37 weeks. I carry weight, I have faced torrential rain and violent thunderstorms. I have danced around the bears and tiptoed by the snakes. Everyday, I get stronger.
