Every choice we make is a representation of ourselves. Always make the decision you believe to be the most morally sound, because at the end of the day, doing the right thing for the right reasons will lead to a happier life for both you and the people around you. Compromising your sense of self just because it seems easier than standing up for what you actually believe in is never going to go well. Not every choice is easy or clear cut, and we all make mistakes, some of which are catastrophic, but the way we deal with those mistakes is what counts. Learn from them, apologise for them, do better because of them. Don't give up when it's hard. So yes, in short, be kind, be open-minded, be willing to change, be willing to admit when you're wrong. It's actually not as hard as people think. Don't be a jerk.

I love B5 for so many reasons, including the fact that it repeatedly makes the point that yes, the sun will explode. yes, the earth will cease to be. yes, that’s tragic. but no, that’s not a reason to be a jerk to anyone. if anything, it’s a reason to not be one. your time on the water marble is finite, spend as much of it as you can doing good things. if you haven’t done good things, then there’s no time to start like the present.

The thing about being attached to fictional characters is that you can't always explain your love for them with a list of reasons.

Some people assume that when I think of a character, I'm thinking about their arc, or their backstory, or even a few of their scenes.

And sure, I think about those things.

But mostly when I think about why I love a character, I can't put it down to anything specific.

It's just a feeling.

It's the same as when I'm thinking about a friend, I'm not thinking about their past experiences or personality traits.

I'm just thinking about them. You know?

Some very interesting choices. I find it so fascinating how some episodes rank similarly in both mine and yours and then some are on completely opposite ends of the tier list!

To me it looks like you have a preference for the major storyline episodes (which would make sense, they are generally very exciting)! Severed Dreams as number one is a great choice, I adore that episode.

Knowing me, I will look back on this in future rewatches and be baffled, so look forward to me reblogging this in the future with an updated list hahaha. But for now, I am happy with this! And certainly my top 5 feel pretty solid.

This was really fun to do! It shocks me that I don't have more of season 4 in my favourites tier, but I think that's because the season 4 episodes are so packed and varied that they didn't stand out individually as much as the season 3 or season 2 episodes.

Something I find quite amusing is that my love for Sheridan is obvious in this ranking. Of course it makes sense that, in general, the more Sheridan-focused episodes do really well in my ranking, but it's just funny to see it visually!

The final tier says "Respectfully... No" but for some reason, Tiermaker often hates "..." when you try to save it as an image. I will try to not have "..." for future templates, whoops.

I also made a template ranking the movies and seasons overall:

See, this is what I mean, looking at my episode ranking, you may have expected me to put season 2 above season 4, but I actually prefer season 4. It just does better being ranked as a whole story, rather than individual episodes.

I could also see this order changing a little, though my top 3 are definitely solid.

Apologies to Crusade, but in all honesty, I will probably never watch it again.

Part 4/5 of the highlights from my notes! This post covers the entirety of season five.

These notes are... quite something XD

I was getting affected big time by both the final season scaries and the dread of nearing the end of Sheridan's story again. It is an exceedingly long and complicated story which I do plan to tell one day, but in short:

I watched Babylon 5 for the first time in 2015. I loved it sooooo, so much (obviously). After finishing it, due to Sheridan being my favourite character, I was beyond devastated-- anyone else here experience very real grief over fictional characters? Anyway-- I knew the only way for me to feel even remotely better about the extremely real pain I was going through would be to rewatch the show, but for reasons I'll mention in full someday, I couldn't rewatch it at the time. So I buried this show, and what turned out to be my favourite character of anything ever, very, very deeply in my mind. I only had vague fond memories (and memories of major plot points) for the best part of a decade.

Yes, I genuinely decided that it was better to forcefully forget the love I had for my favourite character than to live with and process the pain of his death. Sounds very dramatic, but I promise you it's true XD

So earlier this year during a rewatch, it all came flooding back to me. That was quite the wild experience, by the way. Anyway, therefore, these notes were from only my second time watching the show/my third time seeing these scenes. And uh, yeah, I really was not prepared to be hit by the ending again but I also knew it was coming so I got a bit nervous when I was noting.

Time for part 3/5 of my notes about Sheridan! These notes cover the entirety of season four.

So the season two notes in full were 8,791 words, but I didn't share a lot because most of it was me going "I like this about him because..." and "very cool setting up things that happen later down the line in his arc" etc.

The season three notes in full were 8,355 words, and as I'd got a lot of the analysis out of the way in season two, I kind of decided to play around with it a bit and do true, but hopefully funnier, sentences. So you got to see a lot of that!

Now... my season four notes in full were 16,245 words. But I don't have many notes to share (in comparison to season three) because this season caused me to write a LOT of in-depth rambles about his storylines. One day I will refine these rambles into something easily readable. But anyway, my point is that I was a little less goofy with this season, so even a lot of the more amusing things I wrote are a little less wild than the previous notes I've made.

Also, believe me when I say that I care about Garibaldi a lot and understand that he was brainwashed. But I sort of also always have Ivanova's reaction to Garibaldi's betrayal, whoops.

Okay, obligatory ramble about my process of doing this out of the way, here are the chaotic highlights of my season four notes!
