In hindsight, perhaps exploring on her lonesome in this sketchy ass laboratory place wasnât her greatest idea. But, in her poor defense, she had no one to go with! She just had to stick her nose where it didnât belong though, after all, curiosity killed the.... rabbit..? Hana had heard footsteps coming from behind her, and thew most of her hesitation into the wind. In her haste, her foot might have triggered a trap.Â
It was probably one of the better traps sheâd seen, in her defense. The ceiling gave way to rocks ahead of her, with arrows shooting out from the wall behind her. She launched herself to the ground, hoping it would spare her of most of the arrows, though she did still take a substantial hit before she managed to get down.Â
Seeing the blonde girl round the corner to find her, warning bells immediately set off in her head, fingers gripping tight on her light gun. When the girl immediately offered her assistance, while she still kept her guard up, she no longer felt like she was in immediate danger.Â
âIâll be fine, itâs nothing too serious.âÂ
Or so she said, despite the fact that a wince covered her face as she pulled the arrow from her shoulder.Â

lucy heartfilia is, absolutely, the furthest thing from being a stranger to combat. similarly, sheâs very used to weird situations that seem impossible. she can handle all of the aforementioned ââ what she doesnât take kindly to, though, is the fact that sheâs without her most important companions. walking the halls of the abandoned research facility on her own, while sheâs deemed it a necessary place to explore, has her feeling rather sad and lonely. oh, what she wouldnât give to hear the obnoxious bickering of two certain teammates, or even receive a stern glare from their powerful, yet sometimes terrifying, friend. she takes comfort in knowing she still has her spirits, though even their time is limited in this world.
another corner is rounded when she hears a ruckus in the distance. suddenly overcome by worry, lucy breaks into a jog, following her ears until she rounds a final corner to stumble upon another girl ⌠it appears whatever else was causing the noise has since left, or the stranger before her has managed to get away. either way, she doesnât appear to be in the best shape. lucy, now overcome with worry for this stranger, scrambles over until sheâs close.

a warm smile pulled at his lips after being told to shut up and there was a difficulty in describing how at ease he felt now that hana was here; perhaps it was due to the blows he received on his head that clouded his judgement, but even if their situation currently appeared to be impossible, hawks felt as if they could make it out in one piece now that they were together again. knowing that someone had his back, even after their rough start, was a comfort in itself; since he arrived here on these islands, hawks hadnât had anyone to support him and it lifted a weight from his shoulders to know that he wasnât alone anymore.
being pulled into a tight hug was the last thing he expected, but it was wholly reciprocated; though his body was in pain, he returned it just as tight; the closeness in itself was enough consolation for hawks to release the built up tension in his shoulders and when she began to cry, while it felt like a stab to his gut, he hadnât even thought of pulling away. it was always hard : saving someone you thought youâd lose; it was a situation many people in their professions experienced and it would be cruel not to comfort someone that has gone through similar hardships as himself. guilt was a powerful monster that could devour even the strongest people alive.
â hana, itâs not your fault; you canât blame yourself. â rubbing small circles in her back, he ignores the ache in his muscles that protest whenever he moves his arms.
â iâm not going to leave again, i promise; weâre gonna get out of this mess and afterwards iâll treat you to yakitoriâ or whatever you wantâ so we can celebrate and laugh about it later. â
they had to start moving soon, but he had to ensure that hana was actually mentally prepared to handle the small disaster he had caused; once people start to notice that their allies were missing⌠they were going to hunt for the perpetrators and he didnât think either of them were going to be in any shape to handle that.
Every day Hana had been thrust into this shitty, too clean, too perfect city sheâd missed her team. She had just truly gotten used to having people to rely on, just learned how to fit into a team for the first time in her life. She had always been accustomed to doing things on her own, pushing through because she had to, because she was the only one who could. Just when sheâd finally learned that wasnât true, when sheâd finally had people who she could trust and rely on, everything was stripped away from her, and she was put in this stupid fucking fish tank of a city!Â
Hawks was the first person to help her without any ulterior motives, at least as far as she could tell. He was the first person that sheâd decided to trust in this fucked up place, where everyone had been ripped from their roots and thrown into some stupid box of a city. As much as they fought, at the end of the day she would always have his back and for now, sheâd decided to believe he would have hers too.Â
Sheâd entirely expected to be pushed away, at the end of the day how much did they really know about each other? Not much, and even though sheâd saved his life just now, she was sure he was still in intense pain and didnât need the additional burden of having her cry on him. To her surprise though, he returned the embrace.Â
His words did little to relieve her of the blame the had placed upon herself. Itâs a weight that probably wouldnât leave her until his injuries were fully healed, lest any further damage be incurred.Â
âYakitoris okay.. although typically I go for something a little more sweet.âÂ
It was enough to bring a soft smile to her face, for her tears to desist. Although with it, came reality crashing back upon her. They really needed to get moving. It was almost sunrise, and they would be sitting ducks out in the open.
âWe should really get moving though... Sunriseâll be bad if weâre still all the way out here.â Â

Hana had been on her usual morning run to the local bakery in search of some morning sweets sustenance. She was really feeling a nice warm chocolate chip muffin. But, she felt like she never got her way in this stupid city. She heard a voice call from behind her, and of course, she couldnât just keep walking, right?
She turned around, only to be met by one of the stranger faces sheâd seen yet. He almost looked like heâd walked straight out of a fuckinâ apocalypse. But could that be right? Surely, if it was, he wouldnât want to go back home? Either answer seemed strange to her.Â
âYou think youâre the first to want to go home? Tough kid, it doesnât look like any of us are leaving anytime soon.âÂ

This wasnât the home base or the old city ruins ⌠this doesnât even seem to be within the Gaol of Mist, but didnât Louis say that is was inescapable ? So why was he ⌠here ⌠? He needed to be back helping the others find blood beads, he needed to help find the source of the blood springs, he couldnât be in this strange places for no reason ! He needed to leave, and he needed to leave soon.
â H-Hey ! â He called out to the first person that caught his attention once he brought himself out of his daze and panic, though his voice cracked under his gas mask as he spoke to the women. â How do I leave this place ⌠? I need t-to get back home ⌠This must be some sort of mistake â

She really must have been a fool. It had almost been a month since the events had passed, and through the clutter, sheâd lost sight of Hawks. Ever since then, she hadnât stopped searching. At first she was sure that he must be searching too. After the first few weeks though, she knew it was only what she wanted to believe. Wherever he was, she just needed him to be okay.
So, thatâs how sheâd ended up where she was. Fairly drunk, in the bar of her usual arcade, âSplit Happensâ. Â Hana had just completed her nightly routine of asking every person in sight if theyâd seen a âweird guy with bird wingsâ, her best attempt ( and favorite idea when she was drunk ) at finding Hawks. She hated herself for it, but sheâd really believed him when he promised not to leave. She really should have known better. She knew she was probably a nuisance to people, but she needed to find him, or at least know he made it out okay. It killed her not knowing.
As of late, her daily routine had become a never ending search for Hawks. She really had nothing before the events had occurred, so it was truly the only sort of purpose she valued.
Currently she was lost in thought, sitting at the bar. Sheâd heard someone come in behind her, but she hadnât a clue it would be the very man Hana had been in search of. So, like all other background noise she didnât have a care for, she ignored it. However, once she heard the familiar voice of the very bird brain sheâd grown so attached to, she immediately turned to face him. Of all the times this asshole could have chose to find her, couldnât he have picked a better one?Â
âCOMPLAINING? What do they have to complain about! Iâm the one who lost my only friend here! Itâs not my fault they were as helpful as a pile of shit!âÂ
She was definitely ignoring his almost-comment about missing her, she probably wouldnât be able to handle talking about those things in this state, although the shock of seeing him had sobered her up enough. Still though... perhaps she should have created a scene sooner if thatâs what it took for this man to show up. With his title of âheroâ, and all.Â
work has been⌠lackluster, to put it kindly; ever since that island in the sky disappeared, everyone went back to their daily livesâ be it out of a desperation for normalcy again or simple apathy, hawks wouldnât be able to tell. it had been nearing a month since everything returned to normal and, despite enjoying the peace, an unsettled feeling still remained heavy in his gut long after everyone presumably returned safely; perhaps he was being far too greedy with the situation, but the feeling he couldnât shake was nigh insatiable and hawks had undoubtedly began to slack at his job in favor of searching for the answer to ease his worries. on the bright side, it wasnât as if slacking was life threatening to anyone; in fact, it gave him the first solid objective here that he actually wanted to work towards.
before he knew it, twilight slowly approached and orange bled brightly into the blue firmament; having realized that he has been out later than expected, he opted on returning to cappuccino district to return to his apartment for the night. taking note that he had forgotten to keep the balcony unlocked, he begrudgingly accepted his fate that he would probably have to take the stairs; however, before he had even reached the apartment complex, an elderly woman he had once helped with her groceries loudly called for him. without missing a beat, he immediately went over to find out what was the matter and left with yet another job; while he didnât mind her looking out for him⌠he certainly did not want to take care of some drunken manchild at some arcade nearby.
after promptly arriving to â split happens, â his eyes squint to poorly adjust to the blindingly bright arcade room and he makes note that he should probably check this place out sometime; after all, with all this spare time on his hands⌠he would have killed for a break like this back in his world. idly walking around, he took his time finding this supposed fiend that has been terrorizing this place for the past week; had it not been for her being very vocal and the obscene amount of pink she wore, he would have missed her altogether.
â iâm not going to leave again, i promise â â
wincing at the abrupt memory, he quickly regains his composure; however, his brain is too slow to catch up to his loud mouth.
â âwhat !? no way⌠hana !? â immediately rushing over, he is wildly gesticulating as he speaks to her, â iâve been looking for you ever since we got separated ! ! iâm so relieved youâre okay ; i never thought iâd say it, but i really misseâ â cutting himself short due to the strong stench of booze coming off of her, he takes a step back, rethinks the hug he was about to give, and makes a face before continuing, â oh man, hana, you reek⌠donât tell me youâre the drunk that everyoneâs been complaining about⌠â
judging by how she smelled and looked worse for wear, it was obviously the case; however, his words were going far too quickly for his mind to catch up with to completely process it. now that he thinks about it, his mouth going a hundred miles per hour without any room for her to speak prooooobably wasnât helping, either. regardless, if she was letting herself get this bad⌠something must have happened for her to take it this far; mentally, he thanked the old woman for tipping him off about this. while he didnât really expect their reunion to be like this at all, he certainly was not taking it for granted; with how large this city is, itâs a miracle they even ran into each other again.

vvingheroâ:
labored breaths combined with the deafening adrenaline rushing through his veins almost made the fearful shout of his name unrecognizable; it had been a hard pill to swallow when it came to accepting that no one would be coming to save him this time, but after hearing the gunshots and seeing a man fall from the corner of his eye, hope had filled him once more to the very brim. struggling enough to get a glimpse of who had valiantly came to his rescue, his eyes widened in shock once he recognized who it was and she quickly took care of the man restraining him right after.
â hana ! ?
that, while he is ashamed to admit, was the last person he would have expected to follow him here; especially considering how their last encounter ended⌠if anything, he is feeling that regret more than ever at this point, now; it was uncalled for and he caused quite a mess, because of it. while he did manage to rescue a small handful of people along the way here, it certainly didnât help that he was now stranded because of it; no more feathers meant that he would be absolutely relying on hana from here on out for the next day and a half.
had he been in full control of his quirk, this would have ended a lot differently; it put his situation into a more real perspective. while he could survive without being at full control, it meant that he would have to be much more cautious with how he uses it; without a doubt, hana had saved his life and he was grateful for it. hawks could only hope that they could safely make their way out of here in time for them to both recover; if she had truly been out this entire time looking for him, she had to be tired and he was surely in for an earful.
⌠aaaaaaaaand, there it is.
â whew â ! ! â letting out a sharp exhale, he fell back on his butt and rested his back against one of the tree trunks around them; pushing his goggles on top of his head, he wiped the fresh blood from his face before looking absolutely relieved. despite her absolutely grilling him for his blunders, all he could do was manage a genuine smile â youâre right : i got my ass handed to me on a silver platter. if it hadnât been for youâ â
not one for pessimism, he stopped himself momentarily before collecting the right words; clearing his throat, he rubbed at the knot forming on the back of his head before continuing. â ⌠thank you, hana.â gaze drifting slightly downward before returning to her, he continued, â some fucking hero of me to leave you like that, too. â sheepish, he adds, â âŚsorry about that one. â
Although her words were harsh, honestly she was just worried. Hawks had been the only companion sheâd had out here and although he was  an asshole and she did  hate him, she was oh so relieved that she made it in time. Hana had lost way too many people by not being on there at the right moment.Â
What she didnât expect, was an apology. It honestly shocked her, how genuine he sounded. If he had any other reaction, there might not have been tears forming in her eyes, but here she was. It occurred to her, that maybe she wasnât being honest with herself either.Â
âShut up, Iâm glad youâre okay.âÂ
There wasnât too much she could say, already trying to keep herself from crying. She could pretend it wasnât happening, but it definitely was in the works. She was just glad heâd made it, glad sheâd made it. She was glad she hadnât left after heâd saved her, glad sheâd been here to save him too. Hana was glad she was able to return the favor, but she was sad it was in such a dire situation. Honestly, she was still worried that his injuries were too severe, but at the very least she was here with him now, and she wasnât going to disappear anywhere at least until she was satisfied that he would be fine.Â
Breaking out of her train of thought, Hana reached out to pull Hawks into a tight hug, although still being careful to mind his injuries. As soon as she held onto him, though, the tears truly began to flow. Through muffled sobs, she hoped he could hear her.
âI was so worried I wouldnât find you in time, I had a bad feeling about it the whole time. Iâm so sorry I was being a dickhead about everything I should have never let you leave.âÂ

the disappointed exhale he released was clearly visible after he heard her attempt to pacify him on the matter; however, he knew that talking to someone only does so much, sometimesâ hawks could talk to her until he was blue in the face and hana still would find him to be a nuisance. which was absolutely fine, he wasnât in this business for peopleâs undying gratitude; if that were the case, he would have quit before he had even started. the most important part was that they both got out ( relatively ) unscathed from a situation that could have turned out a lot worse; the soldiers taken down were simply unconscious and with his body count currently being zero since heâs been up here, he assumes heâs been doing a decent enough job at it.
doing what needed to be done. thatâs what he was best at.
brows slightly furrowing, he frowns at her words and thereâs more blatant distaste for her lack of preparation; it wasnât his business, though and she made that quite clear. however⌠that still didnât mean he was going to respect that, by any means; if she wanted to leave by herself after this, then so be it, but he would still try to find some way to get her back to a somewhat safe area around here.
â sooooooo⌠youâre after some treasure that you arenât even sure exists or not, â there isnât any disbelief in his tone and it is said rather matter-of-factly; it was a reasonable explanation for wanting to check this place out and he would be lying if he said he would have done the same thing, if he werenât busy babysitting everyone that didnât prepare enough, either. with a shrug, he continues, â i guess thatâs fair. seriously, though⌠are you okay? no grievous injuries? minor cuts? itâs best to take care of that first before we get you out of here.  â
There were few people in her own world that could change her mind, and she greatly doubted that there was even one single person here that could. She was like an unmovable object; she was just plain stubborn. That being said, she guessed she could understand where his concern was coming from, but she couldnât even begin to comprehend why it was wasted on her.Â
âIâm fucking fine. And Iâm not fucking leaving, I came to find the damn treasure.âÂ
She wasnât fine, that was a wholehearted lie, she had a cut that was definitely still trailing blood down her side but she was already tired of being nagged like he was some mother hen or some shit. She was tired of even hearing him talk! Hana had treasure to find, whether it existed or not she wasnât just going to let it go! It was the only chance she had of gaining an edge. Nothing was going to stop her from going, and if Hawks wanted to try she wasnât going to leave without a fight. She may have been injured, but she could still put up a fight; she could still clip his wings, so to speak.Â
There was no preparing for her to do, really; ever since sheâd lived in Koi she hadnât many belongings. There was no one she trusted enough to just embark on some grand quest for treasure with; she didnât have anyone here to rely on! So sue her, for wanting to even try. There was nothing in this god damn place worth living for anyway, so what was really the worst that could happen? She could die? Sheâd already lost everything else, she had to at least give it a shot.
âIâm going to find that damn treasure, whether you like it or not. You canât stop me, itâs none of your concern to stop me. You donât even know me! So why donât you just go off and find the next damsel in distress to save, âcause there ainât one here.âÂ

Honestly, Hana hated being alone, she hated it! Everything had sucked since she got to this shitty place, and she was mad that her attempts to find out anything up on this stupid island had been absolutely fruitless. But you know what? That wasnât even the worst of it! Sure, maybe she had been a little too crass with Hawks, but he didnât just have to fucking leave  her like that!Â
Of course, she was going to really give it to him when she found him again! She was! Thatâs why she was currently walking ( running? ) in the direction sheâd seen him take off in last. She wasnât worried, who would worry about that idiot? She was just mad, and she had to make sure he knew that! So, she followed the trail of footsteps and feathers, what she could make out the best she could, anyway.Â
Soon enough, though, the eeriness of the night started to set in. Hana really hoped she could find him soon, although it was a full moon it was cloudy as hell and that meant she couldnât see shit out here. She didnât want to rest until she had found him, though, as they were almost to the boarding docks as is and she knew what lay ahead would not be friendly. She didnât know the limit of his powers but she knew he had to be just as worn down as she was, hungry too.Â
In the distance Hana could just make out vague shouts, and if she wasnât running before she sure as hell was now. Her feet couldnât move her fast enough and she hadnât wished she had her MEKA more since sheâd come to Koi than now. Her grip on her gun was tight, preparing for what was to come. She reached a clearing and her gaze immediately fell upon an injured Hawks, surrounded. Her worst fears were coming true all over again, and she had to act now if she was going to make a difference this time.Â
âHAWKS!âÂ
It was probably the first time sheâd used his name since heâd told her, but it was fitting for the moment, and in her current haze of panic, she didnât really have the time to think of some witty-ass nickname. She aimed her gun and fired while running, managing to shoot one man in both the leg and chest. Hana hoped it was enough to put him out of the fight, she had other targets to worry about. She was closing in on them now, and as soon as she could she swung hard with her gun in hand to land a heavy hit to the back of the second guyâs head. He was the one currently mid-assault on Hawks, and her attack was enough to knock him down before he had a chance to continue further.
With the second guy down, that only left the last one. With the advantage of closer range, she lifted her gun once again and took aim; all it took was one shot straight through his head and he was down. Finally, an exhale left her. It was like she hadnât had a chance to breath since her hues had landed on Hawks, it was as if a single breath would have cost her someone dear.Â
âWhoâs actinâ like the civilian now, bird brain! What were you thinking, trying to take on three of them in your condition! Some fuckingâ hero.â
scoping out the boarding docks is something that hawks will unfortunately admit to being an absolute terrible idea; in fact, it was so awful, that he had stripped himself of his feathers and was forced to retreat in order to find a safe place to lay low. without his feathers, he was as good as dead out here, and he could only hope that he would regain full control of them soon; not being able to use them offensively put him at a huge disadvantage; however, after more had been uncovered about these islands, it would be a crime for him to not to continue being present here.
which is how he landed himself in his current situation :
crouched in a dense thicket and covered in dirt and dried blood with his knees to his chest to stay as small as possible, hawks mused it would only be a matter of time until someone found him; with his wings plucked clean, it gave him a better chance to stay hidden, but he could only rely on this for so long. he was tired, hungry, and slowly wearing thin; while it wasnât the worst situation he has been in, it certainly wasnât the best and his optimism could only take him so far. perhaps⌠he should have stayed with that small, angry girl; he mused he would have gone mad bickering with her constantly, but his chances would have been a lot better. if only he had watched his own temperâŚ
not having any of his feathers to patrol the area to check if itâs save, the hero could only make a wild guess and keep a steady head on his shoulders; one wrong move and it could mean deathâ he wasnât about to take that lightly, either. slowly, he rises from his position, too on guard to care that his muscles ached from cramping himself; steadily, he began moving and winced at every stick and leaf that loudly cracked under his boots. he had enough training to handle close combat, but if those villagers obtained any guns⌠thereâs no telling how it would turn out; it was worrisome to consider and hawks didnât know if he could stomach having to kill a civilian: hostile or not.
only a few minutes into his trek and he realized he had been spotted after boisterous shouting rang loudly from the distance; heart hammering in his chest, he darted from his current position and ran as quickly as his legs could carry him. those that caught up to him, he managed to render unconscious due to them only attacking him one at a time; however, those skirmishes had set him back and three more men had caught up to him at once⌠he was surrounded and far too exhausted to put up a decent fight⌠but he had to. muscles aching in protest as he moved in to strike, he managed as well as he could; not a single man would leave this unscathed and he reckoned he had blackened all of their eyes, but it wasnât enough. one heavy hand to his gut left him winded and the next blow that hit the back of his head made the world spin; now restrained, once his eyes refocused, his head snapped up and his eyes widened in primal fearâ

Itâs strange â in reality, he did not need to be worried or fussed over and knew the skills necessary to live on his own for the remainder of his life if he so chose, yet he often stood on the receiving end othersâ worries, especially in this strange new country. He knew it to be provoked by his age, but the customs of his home-land expedited the growth of people starting at a young age, and few had qualms with teaching the way of battle to children. He did not particularly mind the difference, but it struck him all the same.
With Hana now as his companion, he continued toward the ocean-smell.
â Aunt Mito is Aunt Mito. â ( Stated as though the most obvious fact in the world. ) â Sheâs great! She raised me after Ging disappeared. Oh, but sheâs scary when I donât do what she says. I bet she thinks I ran away âcause I didnât want to do homeworkâŚÂ â Remembering the homework heâll have to do once he gets back is a frightening thought ⌠but when he recalled Aunt Mito helping him in her own stern way, he could not help but smile fondly. â Thatâs why I gotta get back, you see. I need to apologize for suddenly going away. â
He shrugged one shoulder off his backpack and swung it toward himself to dig inside for something â and after rifling around for a moment, he retrieved a small bag of berries he had foraged earlier, handing it to Hana as they walked. As far as he could tell ( and smell ), she did not carry much in the way of provisions.
â Here, take these for when you get hungry. â Once assuring that she took it, he righted his backpack and looked up at her, smiling and relaxed as though they werenât walking in the thick of danger. âReally, a setting like this feels more natural than that of mainland. â Whyâd you come up here, Hana? â
It was obvious how much Gon could and had  taken care of himself thus far, but that didnât mean Hana couldnât worry! It wasnât his age that made her worry, it was the fact that he was her friend. After all, she may have not been as young as he was, but she had gone into the military fairly young as well. Hana knew when someone was strong, she could feel it in the way they held themselves, but that didnât stop her from caring, from worrying. The strongest people she knew had been brought down in the simplest of ways, after all, and she knew all too well how  no one was invincible.Â
From the way he talked about her, Hana knew this âAunt Mitoâ person was important to Gon. His honest purity was what stopped her from voicing any doubts she had, she couldnât will herself to break his sweet little heart. It was kind of dangerous, the effect his earnest nature had on people, her included.Â
âAh, I see. Well, I hope you can get back to her soon then Gon!â
When he pushed the berries into her hand, Hana knew she couldnât refuse as her stomach immediately let out a loud ass growl. She was more than thankful for his kindness. It really made all the difference to have a friend with you out in these types of places.Â
âThank you Gon! And, I donât really have a reason I came up here, not like you do anyway. I just wanted to check it out! I thought there might be something cool up here, who couldâve known.âÂ

She had been traveling through the ruins, and honestly she was just fucking tired. Hana didnât have a drop of energy left in her body to waste on fighting, so naturally when the sound of footsteps caught in her ears she had ducked for cover. Luckily they were loud as shit, so she had plenty of time to take cover before they could have spotted her. Now to just hope they didnât make their way towards her before she could figure out an escape plan.Â
The longer she sat in wait, the more irritated she became; it wasnât like she wasnât fit but it was a pain in the ass squatting behind these ruins for this long. She hadnât a chance to make her exit yet, and she definitely was not about to chance it.Â
Just to further her fantastic mood, some guy had to crash her hiding place. Her. Hiding. Place. She about jumped out of her fucking skin, and this guy didnât even seem to notice she was next to him! She hoped, for his sake, he hadnât been spotted or heard by the guards. Sheâd kill him before they got a chance to. Not that she had the energy for that, honestly, but sheâd find it!Â
Her eyes narrow when he finally realizes sheâs there, and her fingers grasp her gun a little tighter. At least he was smart enough to be quiet about it, he even had the nerve to tell her to be quiet! Or at least, thatâs what she thought he meant with that gesture. He had crashed her quiet hiding place to begin with! Hana simply couldnât resist rolling her eyes at that one.Â
Of course, however, despite their unlucky companionship, they were both still burdened by the same problem. These guards were not going anywhere useful, and if anything it seemed like they slowly made their way towards them.Â
@seunglihaeya
The answers arenât yours to find; the people arenât yours to mourn. Whatever brings you to this desolate place, it doesnât feel like heroism.
This crumbled structure sits apart from the ruins and signs of recent life, as though even the dead want nothing to do with it. A thick reek of burning and death permeates the air, and you suppress a familiar shudder. Youâve heard this former kingdomâs castle is further ahead, but you arenât sure you want to see what has become of it.
A heavy clatter of footsteps cuts through your thoughts. The soldiersâyou duck behind a ruined wall, hoping they havenât spotted you. These enemies arenât the kind youâre used to; this is their land, and attacking first seems wrong.
Eyes fixed on where the soldiers should be passing by, it takes a moment before you become aware that you arenât alone in your choice of hiding place. Startled, you can only jerk your head in the direction of the threat, willing this stranger not to speak up. Or worse, consider you an enemy.

treasure hunt.
@feyedbirth
To set out and explore, with hopes of finding treasure. Of what kind, she didnât know, nor care, as long as it would be an advantage to her going forward. Being without her MEKA, in unfamiliar environment, with even less known about the people who surrounded her made her that much more desperate to gain any sort of leverage she could. Anything that would make her stronger in comparison to those around her would be of benefit. Â
Now, here she was, traveling in this stupid forest all by herself. It was a pain in the ass, she couldnât see shit! What good use is a gun if you couldnât use it until they were in melee range. Luckily, her quick reflexes helped her manage. She had to be close to getting out of this shit soon, sheâd been trekking through miles of this stupid greenery. Honestly, she was exhausted but there was absolutely no way sheâd be stopping anywhere here.Â
While she was treading softly through the forest, trying her damnest  to be as stealthy as could be, Hana could swear she heard something, or someone nearby. There was no telling what it could be, but honestly, she was already travelling blind, she thought she should at least try and get a glimpse of whatever she could be going up against.Â
She peeked around a relatively large tree, enough so that she could gaze upon the cause of all the noise. She recognized one of the fighters; sheâd caught a glimpse of her earlier on the airship up to this place, which meant she was from Koi, the same as her. The other was up against three bandits, and she had to give her credit, she was damn good. Hana briefly wondered how long sheâd been fighting them, judging from how worn out the other was, probably a good bit now. She noticed another bandit a few feet off, wounded on the ground. Making her choice, she took aim at one of the remaining bandits and fired, hoping sheâd be of some help. Even if they were just bandits, it was never easy when you were outnumbered and exhausted.Â
After they were down to two bandits, she took aim at the one furthest from the other; she trusted her aim but she didnât know what the other was capable of or what to expect. Sheâd shot him in the leg, injuring him enough to realize that they were most likely outclassed and thus he ran.Â

vvingheroâ:
maybe a backhanded compliment wasnât the best way to go about this and honestly, hawks realizes that he may have been a bit too harsh; despite this, he didnât let her curt quips burrow too far under his skinâ some people were too hardheaded to swallow their pride and she needed to be more careful. to be absolutely safe, he sent two more feathers from his wings to act as sentries in the nearby area to ensure that no one was planning on potentially flanking them; he could not see much from where they currently were and he wasnât naive enough to think that no one would be hiding in or behind any of the dilapidated structures.
â the nameâs hawksâŚÂ and iâm not playing white knight, â a roll of his eyes ensued and it took everything within him to keep spouting a sarcastic retort; instead, he surprisingly found himself going towards the more professional route for this conversation. âbefore i arrived here, i was a hero in my world; so, naturally, i came up here to prevent civiliansâ like youâ from getting killed. which you totally would have been, had it not been for this bird brain, by the way. â he squints, heâs not finished and hawks knows damn well that heâs talented when it comes to long winded conversations. â ugh ⌠look, we may have gotten off on the wrong foot. âÂ
there were probably hundreds of people up here on these islands naively thinking that they could handle whatever comes there way; however, no matter how good they are, it can be surprisingly easy to get overwhelmed when you donât know what to expect. he wasnât going to sit here and talk to this girl until heâs blue in the face; while he wanted to make it clear that it was serious, some people are really just too hardheaded. hand moving to tiredly rub at the back of his neck, he exhaled a sigh and offered one more piece before making his peace with this person.
â all iâm saying is : if youâre too cocky up here, youâre going to get yourself killed. what gave you this crazy ideaâ erâ while iâm at it⌠whatâs your name? â
Hawkeye was definitely onto something here, she might need to be a little more careful. Maybe. But that didnât matter! He didnât need to be such an asshole about it. She was doing fine until those soldiers caught up to her. She would have continued to be fine if it wasnât for her stupid ankle. How fucking unlucky could she get! Now she felt like she was stuck with this dickhead, he definitely didnât seem like he would be leaving anytime soon, even though she wished he would fly off to who the fuck cared where. Anywhere but here would be good.Â
What a pretentious bitch! This oversized pigeon had some nerve to be lecturing her, even going as far as to call her a civilian! Un-fucking-believable.  You could barely hear the dismissive âwhateverâ, she muttered under her breath. The wrong foot! She almost had to laugh. She wasnât here to be told off, she knew how to survive, sheâd done it this long, hadnât she? ( answer: no. she was here, after all, so obviously, she hadnât. )Â
The realization hit her that he was just like one of those birds, the ones that never shut the fuck up in the morning when youâre trying to sleep, and she had to muffle a laugh, lest she break the tension of his oh-so important talk.Â
âYeah yeah, I get it! Be more careful ân shit. My nameâs Hana, not that it really matters. I heard there was some sort of treasure or reward or something up here, thought Iâd check it out.âÂ

The building had definitely been daunting, admittedly, it would never be a place she had the nerve to enter alone. Hana had wanted to call out to him when she saw him enter the building- but her caution had gotten the best of her. She hadnât a clue of who he was, or even if he would be friendly or not!! It definitely had not stopped her from following the boy inside, though. Curiosity, as it killed the cat, would definitely be the end of the rabbit next.Â
She followed him for some time, before he turned tail and demanded to know who was following him. A moment of panic hit her, debating on if she should reveal herself yet; he hadnât seemed particularly dangerous so far, if she was honest with herself she hadnât a clue as to why he was here to begin  with. She supposed, she had gotten herself into this mess based on wanting to approach him, now was the prime ( maybe not, but she would tell herself that it most definitely was ) opportunity. Stepping from the shadows, she would answer his call;Â
âSORRY! I didnât mean to be shady! Honestly, I was just curious about exploring this place but I didnât want to come in alone! When I saw you entering the building I thought maybe you knew something about this place, but I wasnât sure if it was safe to call out to you, so I just followed.âÂ
Man, she really needed to get a handle on this nervous word-vomit thing she was picking up. It wasnât a good look. Â
IT WAS , IN A WORD , TERRIFYING :: deprived of movement , daylight sequestered behind boarded windows , a memorial suspended in time . shadows advance close at hand , dance mirrored wherever torch gives light â silhouettes soften to nonentity , resulting in self-judgement && inquisition toward psyche . quarters this unfrequented , generally , produced excitement or moments of harmony . not now . not here . reasonably ,  penitentiaries werenât notorious for hospitality , still , being this nightmarish should be a transgression against society . ha ! architecture dedicated to oneâs atonement breaking laws , how masterfully ironic ! how nauseating ! alternating , thirst for answers leads youth down labyrinthine corridor  / he swears footsteps opposite own have pursued him some time / itâs as irritating as it is alarming . coming to standstill , torch is thrust as far as arms can reach ( not that it matters , in the end , still canât see !! ) and hollers . hoping he sounds somewhat intimidating .
â alright , alright , thatâs enough !! either show yourself or get lost !! â

sunfluoralâ:
Upon the advent of the float islands, Gon had hung back, watching the throngs of people rushing to board the cramped airships and the long line of those waiting to step onto the one teleporter in the Civil Service building. Sitting cross-legged on the hill next to the service building, he gazed upward at the massive sky-island that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, eyes following the trails of light of citizens being transported up to its surface, all the while wondering why this landmass provoked an exodus of this size â it was pretty cool, he could not deny, but he was lost for reason to follow them. Was it the morbid curiosity? Was it something interesting to spend the hours on? ⌠Or, maybe, just maybe, this Empyrea contained a hint on how to get home. And upon realizing this, a small flame of excitement burst inside his chest.
His affinity for nature combined with the survival skills he naturally picked up from being a Hunter allowed him to adapt to the landâand its threatsâquite quickly. Despite his strength being tempered to actually match his size, he found ways to avoid trouble by using his head and aiming for the vital spots of any soldier that happened to spot him, although he strove to avoid being seen in the first place. The teleporter placed him in the thick of the island, and so his present goal was to traverse to the landâs edge and get a view of what lay beyond Koi proper. The landmass was huge; he could not discern which way led to his goal and which guided him further in, so he picked a path based on where he thought the smell of sea water blew in from.
The trek proved uneventful, until he happened upon some sort of ruin being guarded by a small platoon â but even then, he dealt with them with as much ease as subduing a small animal, and proceeded to line them up on the ground so that they may eventually wake up in relative comfort. But, once dealing with the last one, something unexpected happened.
â Hana! â âHer name hardly left his mouth before receiving an onslaught of scoldings. She sounds like Aunt Mito! The sudden association made him sweat. Somehow ⌠it felt like he got caught doing something bad.
He nodded. â Yup, Iâm ok. â Is she mad? She seems mad âŚÂ â Well, everyone else left mainland to explore, so I came, tooâŚÂ â (In retrospect, itâs a shoddy argumentâeveryone else did it so I did too.)Â
â Actually, Iâm trying to find the edge of the island. If I can see whatâs beyond Koi, maybe I can figure out how to get home. Aunt Mitoâs gonna be mad if I donât come back soon. â He raises a finger to point in the direction he was heading. â I can smell the ocean over there, so Iâm going that way. Wanna come with me? Itâs dangerous, after all. â Â
Upon getting closer and hearing Gon was unharmed, Hana felt like an immense weight was lifted from her chest, her expression immediately softening to a small smile. She hadnât realized how worried she had been for the younger boy, when had she come to care so much? Were they even considered friends? She would consider them such, but did he? It wasnât something she had time to dwell on currently.Â
âIâm so glad youâre okay Gon!"Â
She listened to him talk about this âAunt Mitoâ  and briefly wondered if he realized that most likely wouldnât be possible. Of course, she wasnât about to squash his dreams especially  when she didnât know for certain, but from what she had observed so far, it almost didnât seem like they were even in the same plane of existence here. She had even heard rumors that it wasnât possible to die; youâd just be re-spawned somewhere. It was like a video game that was all too real to her.Â
âOf course Iâll come! Itâs too dangerous to be out here alone, anyway. Who is this âAunt Mitoâ person?âÂ
Hana was curious, it had to be someone important to Gon, the look on his face when he mentioned coming home to her was something that caused worry to rest in her stomach. She worried of his reaction if he wasnât able to. There wasnât anything that could be helped or prevented if that was to be the outcome, though sheâd aid him in any way she could to achieve this. She wasnât sure how she, herself, felt about going home. Hana definitely held worries about the state of Korea, and with that her family and friends, but this could also be just the shitty  vacation she needed.Â
