I was thinking the same thing. I don’t think CN would have an artist make a picture of a gem that isn’t real just for a TV equivalent to clickbait. It might be a real gem that's coming soon, and CN decided to use a picture that was already made of it to get more viewership.

If you can guess the gem, you can guess who you’re going to meet tomorrow night on a brand new Steven Universe!

Nothing. You missed nothing. Just more filler, and more disappointment.

Cartoon Network Is Ruining Steven Universe
Let's be real here for a second, guys. First, they "accidently" leak the entire Steven Bomb that was planned for January, which of course made the ratings take a hit. This could have been done accidently, of course, but this could also have been done intentionally to either rile up the fandom, or to purposely sabatoge the show. Now, they're putting out fake gem pictures (see Cartoon Network's Rocknaldo teaser), which could be perceived as clickbait, which is what it essentially is, and could've been used to increase hype and viewers. However, they should have known this would aggrevate the fandom, and seemingly lead to people blaming CN AND Rebecca Sugar, even if the SU team had nothing to do with it. This begs the question, is Cartoon Network attempting to ruin the show? Now, this might seem farfetched in some aspects, but think for a minute. Steven Universe is insanely popular, but it doesn't fit in with the shows they are also airing. Unless, of course, you count Regular Show, Adventure Time, etc, which all have ended, or are going to soon. If they were looking to free up airspace for new, Teen Titans GO esque shows (which, despite being severely unintelligent, do extremely well), they would need to clear out the older shows. This includes the ones they already have decided are going to be ending, and you guessed it, Steven Universe. I could see a way where, to avoid the whole, concentrated backlash from the community, they could be doing little things to slowly wear down the trust of them, and along the way create reasons they could use later to justify ending the show (such as low ratings). The Steven Universe fandom is significantly larger and more active than the cancelled shows I previously mentioned, so they need to be cautious with their approach. It might not be true, but CN is a large organization, with money being first always, and viewer happiness second. If something is making certain fans happy (the more mature ones), but not making enough money off of the younger crowds, they may want to replace it with something that can milk more money in terms of merchandise and viewership. Steven Universe is known to have a large community of users who watch the show online, and since younger audiences don't typically have access to these streaming websites (Kisscartoon, for example), they would need to replace it with something that appeals to that group of youth. It's a little outrageous, and a bit of a stretch, but it's something to keep in mind. If they were planning on doing something to Steven Universe, especially since the series has not be renewed past season 5, it's easy to see how they might take further action to ruin the show. I don't know, but if anyone agrees, or disagrees, feel free to let me know, so we can get a good discussion going. Thanks for reading.

A ‘dank’ edit I did earlier last year when I had too much free time. I call it, ‘Peridewrito Drops Her New Mixtape.’ She can only afford all of these Doritos and Mountain Dew because of her fans downloading songs off her Sound Cloud, and winning MLG tournaments.

I think there are two types of writers, the architects and the gardeners. The architects plan everything ahead of time, like an architect building a house. They know how many rooms are going to be in the house, what kind of roof they’re going to have, where the wires are going to run, what kind of plumbing there’s going to be. They have the whole thing designed and blueprinted out before they even nail the first board up. The gardeners dig a hole, drop in a seed and water it. They kind of know what seed it is, they know if planted a fantasy seed or mystery seed or whatever. But as the plant comes up and they water it, they don’t know how many branches it’s going to have, they find out as it grows. And I’m much more a gardener than an architect.”
