Never posted politics before but
Someone just give me some fucking reassurance right now
It’s looking more and more like this fucking oompa lumpa maniac is gonna win and I’m not sure if America will survive, and what this will mean for me, my friends, my family, or anyone else who will end up on this assholes shit list
I’m fucking scared. I don’t wanna fucking die. What the hell do I do if he wins?
I just need some good news. Some reassurance. Even a simple ‘it’ll be alright’ would be pretty god right now

if Donnie and Brainstorm met, they'd be a bigger threat to the Lost Light than any villian in MTMTE
Oh I had an idea! ROTTMNT Turtles end up on the lost light Chaos ensuses
Donnie is in the fucking walls, cackling like a madman, having the time of his life. He never wants to leave. He lives here now. Farewell, brothers, it was nice knowing you, but he's found his true home!
Please don't let him meet Brainstorm. It would not end well for anyone.

A Further Look into Hunter Gossip
A chatterbox conspiracy theorist, a laid back realist, and a potentially stir-crazy big game hunter take a walk on a haunted moon and, expectedly, get haunted—Just not in the way they thought. Just when he thought it couldn't get worse than the smell of Soulfire, there's a new oppressive feeling in the air.
By this time in the timeline [around/post-Haunted, pre-Lightfall]*, its a common rumor among Hunters that the Crow hasn't just been seeking out the Young Wolf - but is in active contact with them. Unconfirmed (for now), but this trio is inclined to believe it.
Back at it again with putting TFE in the main tag... Its been. A While. since the last one, but I finally finished another one! Rancher and his other two friends (from chapter 2 of Bury Me Shallow) make a return and, turns out, the Guardian has been watching Rancher.
Has the Crow been talking about him? Were they curious after The Leviathan Incident (that I... am still working on. augh)? Who knows! Certainly not Rancher! Mr. Conspiracy Theorist (Seph) is gonna have a field day after this one.
*link goes to TFE's timeline post
[ao3]
There’s a weight in the air.
Neither Gideon nor Seph seem to notice it, but he knows it's there, pressing down on his Solar Light. The pressure is low, but steady. Not nearly enough to suppress, but enough to set on end. Up ahead, the other two are chatting animatedly about some new scheme in the City, as he slowly falls behind.
Moon’s haunted is a common enough joke, but this is more than the smog of Soulfire and its sickly green glow, or the knowledge of the Nightmares scattered around with nothing to attach to. This is a different weight. How can those two not notice?
As Rancher scans the jutting, broken landscape of Luna for the dozenth time, Gideon—a purple-toned Awoken with molten gold eyes—takes notice of the exo’s wary looks. Though Rancher’s eyes are fixed on a spot on the horizon, Gideon stops Seph’s chattering to watch.
“Rancher, dude, what are you doing?” Gideon half-laughs, a brow raised in question. “We’ve got to cover this patrol, y’know. Missed too many last week.” Seph rolls his eyes, but nods.
Had Rancher teeth or lips, he’d be biting the latter, unsure of whether to brush it off and hurry off the cursed moon or try to draw attention to how wrong the atmosphere was. Instead, he grinds the servos in his jaw as he thinks.
If they hadn’t noticed, maybe he was just getting paranoid and it was the same as always. He’d never hear the end of it. But if he’s right… If it isn’t the Hive, what is it?
Seph speaks up in that annoyingly confident tone, no doubt trying to goad him, but Rancher hardly processes what’s being said as he swears he saw something move just over the nearby ridge. It could just be a Nightmare, but it moved too– solidly, concretely; whatever the word. But it was no specter, and much too short for an Eliksni.
Even as Seph keeps speaking, Rancher cuts in; abrupt, clear, and terse—wholly unlike himself, “There’s someone here.”
Gideon and Seph share a brief glance at the outburst, the former’s lax expression becoming hard lines and the latter’s becoming one of shock. After a few moments of the two watching Rancher glare at the landscape, Seph pipes up. “Uh, you… you good, bud? Thought you didn’t have a Nightmare?”
“No, it’s– ‘s not like that. Sum’one, Seph. Some-one. Swear by it,” Rancher curses. “Wer’ bein’ watched.”
Seph merely glances around the ridges, face pulled down in a wary grimace. “You sure? I’mmm not seeing anything…” Gideon keeps his eyes trained on Rancher, who watches him in turn. “I mean, do you think there might be one of those fake-out Hive Hunters? Not sure why some of Sav’s brood would be–”
Gideon turns his head sharply to Seph then, cutting him off. “If any of Savathuun’s brood were in this sector, we wouldn’t be here. I checked the reports before putting us up for this.”
“What are you, a Warlock–”
“Seph. My point is, he’s paranoid, not stupid. Rancher knows what he’s talking about.” Gideon turns to him. “Don’t you? What did you see?”
The exo pauses again, scanning with his head on a swivel, searching for even a shadow out of place. When he finds nothing, the disturbed anxiety turns only to a writhing dread. The pale moon rocks, the cracked and ruptured surface, the faint green highlights over the landscape—All oppressive as the strait they walk begins to feel like a prison.
But he’s still not sure what he saw. A cloak, maybe? He wants to believe the flash of orange was a reflection of himself, perhaps of his armor, against some collapsed colony ship remnants; but he can feel the paranoia heavily weighing itself. He knows what it was—Who it was.
The nausea tightens and comes to grip his head.
And they know him.
Rancher stares. He stares at that singular spot where he’d seen the flash, as if he could rewind and pause at the exact moment it turned and left. He breathes, without lungs, and stills his Light; every facet tense, taut.
“Rancher…?” His optics are pinpoints, digitized layers visually shuffling and thinning out, as his vision down-scopes to try and find any trace. Seph’s voice is static background. “You alright, buddy?”
No. They swatted him like a fly once already, even injured. The whole team. Prax…
The other two will laugh, try to brush it off, and stay tense the rest of the way. He’s been around longer than either of them. He knows when he’s being watched. Those two won’t believe him; won’t want to. He doesn’t want to.
He hears Gideon step towards him and can feel the Awoken stare holes into his head. “Who did you see?” If nothing else, Gideon believes him– Would believe? Or, believes that he believes.
Rancher’s optics shutter off then reset, vision returning to normal, and he drags his gaze to his team, scanning them in his own right. Both of them wear expressions of varying shades of concern. Seph himself stayed where he was, head tilted away in a cautious worry and glancing at the ridges.
It occurs to him then—The air was clear of the oppressive force that had set Rancher off. This uneasy atmosphere was of his own making. The Wolf—a name he finds more than apt, now—had long since moved on. He blinks, mind failing to come up with a satisfactory answer to the question he’d left hanging.
He knew what he saw. They didn’t. Had Rancher a proper heart, it would be thrumming in his chest, but all he feels is an anxious fluttering in his core.
“...Later.” The sound begins with a low hum, almost a growl in his throat, before it becomes something understandable. He directs his eyes down, forcing himself to relax and to move forward, even as a chill pricks at the prominent sections of his spine. Fans whir in his chest, though sensors feed nonsense data.
The growl seems to catch up to Seph only after Rancher moves past him, but he jumps on it nonetheless. “What– What do you mean ‘later’?” Seph demands. “You bring the patrol to a complete stop and freak both of us out, just to dismiss it?”
Gideon looks similarly displeased, lips pressed thin, but he doesn’t speak; only regards him with discontent. But there’s something knowing about it.
“Ain’t dismissin’it,” he lows, turning away and back to the path. “Jus… not ‘ere. Not here.”
There’s a winding-up, a slow dot-dot-dot feeling to Seph’s Light. The feeling is barely a drop in the Light, but a texture both Gideon and Rancher know well to pick up on: The grinding gears of Seph’s thought process. Rancher braces himself for whatever skeptical comment the theorist has prepared this time.
“Does this have to do with the Leviathan?”
Obviously, he was not prepared enough.
Seph’s voice itself was high, and certainly the tone of a skeptic, but he could swear the Leviathan was said with a growing smile; as if Seph had it all figured out.
Rancher tenses mid-step, eyes reflexively flickering to the ridges again. Seph lets out one, victorious laugh.
“I knew it! You do have a Nightmare!” He says it as if he had found the answer to life itself. Gideon slips out only a pained sigh as Seph keeps on. “So who is it? What’s it about? I mean, obviously it’s got something to do with, like, being hunted and whatnot– Why else would you be all up in arms?”
Rancher turns sharply to look at Seph, largely in disbelief. His jaw lights flicker as he struggles to come up with a retort. The words, ones he most certainly does not want to entertain, keep coming as Seph blabbers on, so assured of himself and completely oblivious to either of them.
”Oh! Oh! If it’s about the Leviathan, and it obviously is, then–”
“Seph,” Gideon growls out. Rancher appreciates the attempt. “Leave it be.”
“But–”
“Not our business.”
Gideon says it with a clear glare at Rancher—One very contradictory to his words and said loud and clear, you have some explaining to do later. Rancher narrows his optics in response, but gives only a slight nod. One that, thankfully, slipped under Seph’s radar.
He still tries to talk again, but, mercifully, Gideon forces out a dissuading pulse of Light, and moves ahead to continue the patrol. Rancher follows easily, if with another careful glance to the ridges.
What has the Crow gotten them all into?
Why didn’t he listen?
