My genuine hope in S2 of OPLA is that Sanji is shown being more favourtive to women. Not in a weird way but in a "oh yeah this just cares more about women"
Like when they have Mr 9 and Vivi captured on the ship before whisky peak, I hope he serves them both dinner, but offers Vivi a pillow and book to make her more comfortable but she rejects it only for Mr 9 to be like "I'd like that"
Only for Sanji to go "I didn't ask you" and walks away.
I just think it could be a great gag and really show Sanji's priorities lol

Is Shaggy/Mosa Actually Shirahoshi?! 90% Confirmed?! New Hints & Hidden details!! And why it's the best outcome for the story!! A Lokihoshi Masterpost.
I’ve been obsessed with the Shaggy/Mosa = Shirahoshi theory for a while, and after some deep diving I’ve found new clues that push my confidence up to about 90%
I highly recommend checking out @murphmurphthejerk 's original post first.
This is going to be long, I’m gonna lay it all out here, the good, the weird, and the plausible, so bear with me.
In this post, I’m going to break down:
1. Nine clues that hint at Shirahoshi, Some of them I haven’t seen discussed elsewhere
2. Themes and symbolic parallels that make this reveal narratively perfect
3. Three possible scenarios for how Loki and Shaggy might have started talking
4. Potential weaknesses in the theory (and why they’re patchable)
5. The tone and subtext of their actual conversations in Japanese
6. Possible relationship dynamics if it turns out to be true
Most of what you’re about to read was written right after chapter 1153 “Birth of Loki”, but I could only post it today after chapter 1156 “Idols”. However, the new information only strengthened my points 🔥
♡♡♡♡
9 Clues That Practically Scream “It’s Shirahoshi”:
1. Honorifics
Let’s start with the thing that pushed me over the edge, something I haven’t seen anyone discuss: honorifics.
If you know Shirahoshi, you know she always speaks with very formal, respectful language. She uses “-sama” for basically everyone. So naturally, she would address Loki as Loki-sama.
But when the leaks of 1134 came out translators just went with Loki-san. And in both the TCB and VIZ translations, it's simplified even more as just “Loki”.
I was confused about this, so I went to the Japanese version, and surprise surprise, look what I found:
Tumblr media
Very nice Oda...
That speech bubble placement is very... suspiciously convenient.
We only see “Loki-sa”, but the letter that follows — ま (ma) or ん (n) — is blocked out by Loki’s "WOAH" 「わ!!」 (surprised exclamation)
If it were "-san", Oda would’ve showed it fully, since that's the default honorific, and it doesn't really tell us anything about Shaggy's identity.
So this is intentional censorship, because revealing "Loki-sama" is an instant Shirahoshi giveaway.
Honestly, this one tiny clue boosted my belief in this theory from 30% to 80%.
And yet... I haven’t seen anyone bring it up in the Mosa discussions?!!!
2. The Nickname And Speech Pattern point to Shirahoshi
Loki calls her Mosakō, the -kō suffix adds a cute, familiar tone, completely unlike the way he talks to anyone else, and in Japanese it can also be used for royalty, which fits Shirahoshi perfectly. This nuance doesn’t carry over into English, so most readers miss it.
Mosa itself means “hairy”, which connects back to her father Neptune, who’s been called モジャモジャ (mojamoja, “shaggy/hairy”) by both Luffy and Roger. Roger even teased him with “We’re not coming for your shaggy daughter” to which Neptune denied she would be.
Both モジャモジャ (mojamoja) and モサモサ (mosamosa) are onomatopoeic words used to describe hairiness, messiness, or something dense and unkempt, but the nuance is a little different.
Mojamoja: Is stronger, more vivid, and very common. Usually refers to thick, curly, tangled hair or fur, Wild, tangled, bouncy, comedic bushiness.
Mosamosa: is softer, and less common. Can mean thick, abundant hair/fur, but with less focus on curls and more on heaviness or overgrowth.
(Shirahoshi has very long hair👀 she got the good hair genes from her dad that's for sure)
But it's also used for things that feel slow, heavy, or sluggish, and could refer to a slow, or a dull person, which suits her as well (I'll elaborate later).
Oda likely picked "Mosa" for her because:
1- Phonetic flow with -kō
Mosa-kō is smooth, and rhythmic. Moja-kō feels clunkier, and is also the name of an existing manga/anime character (Mojacko), which would cause unwanted associations.
By picking mosa, Oda avoids direct pop culture reference, and keeps the nickname uniquely his.
2- Double meaning potential
It gives Oda a way to make the nickname serve two gags at once:
1. A nod to Neptune’s (Mojamoja) running joke. And It's a funny, rude nickname, especially for a girl. (Luffy already has a rude nickname for her, so of course Loki does too).
2. A personality jab at Shirahoshi being slow on the uptake (only realizing Loki’s kindness after so long).
3- A Stealthy Reference
If he’d used "Moja", the connection to Neptune would be way too obvious to fans. Switching from "Moja" to "Mosa" changes it just enough to fly under the radar.
When it comes to the Den Den Mushi, it's worth noting that the snail has top lashes, and I think we all agree that top eyelashes = feminine coded???
As for the beard on the snail, I think it's serving multiple purposes actually:
1. Fully committing to the "Shaggy" bit.
2. Cold resistance.
3. Misdirection (you think it’s a guy at first).
4. Possible future gag: cuz you know damn well Loki thinks she's actually hairy too, and the absolute chad is probably into it. We already know he has an unconventional taste.
As for Shaggy’s speech pattern: she speaks in extremely polite, humble, and indirect Japanese. The kind of speech that’s strongly associated with a shy young woman. It’s not neutral; it’s coded as sweet, deferential, and emotional. This is why Japanese fans might say “she talks like a girl”, and not just any girl, but a specific archetype.
That alone rules out a lot of other possible candidates (Jarul, Ida, etc.) who don’t talk this way at all.
3. The Very Suspicious SBS Timing
In the latest SBS, Oda just happens to answer a throwaway question about Shirahoshi, in the exact same SBS where he explains how Loki’s Den Den Mushi works. Why? Out of all the questions he could have picked, why her, and why now? It wasn't about her powers or Fishman Island lore either! it was about her romantic future!!
Oda's like: "Let’s remind fans Shirahoshi exists… for no reason." (Sure, Oda.)
Seriously though, when was the last time she was even mentioned in an SBS? He deliberately slipped a question about her love life into the same volume that contains Loki’s calls with Shaggy, meaning even years after the reveal, when One Piece is over, anyone opening that volume will see those hints Oda planted from the very start.
4. A Shirahoshi Callback in the same chapter Shaggy was introduced??
Back in Chapter 1134 (the first time Shaggy calls), there’s a panel where Luffy lands on Ripley’s boobs, totally unaware she’s a person.
At first glance, it’s just classic goofy fanservice... BUT it might be an intentional parallel.
Oda might be setting the stage. 👀
5. "Please Don’t Shout" Did Shirahoshi’s Heart Go Doki-Doki In That Moment??
I stumbled across an interesting Japanese tweet, and I know it's a stretch, but it’s too cute not to share.
Tumblr media
In chapter 1134, Shaggy says: “Please don’t shout.” At first, it just sounds like nervousness, but then you remember Shirahoshi literally said her heart fluttered when Luffy yelled at her.😭
Back on Fishman Island, (in a chapter titled “Proposal” no less) Luffy yelled at her and she told him not to because it made her heart go doki-doki, which is a cutesy Japanese onomatopoeia for a pounding heart, usually with romantic undertones (though it can also mean excitement or nervousness).
I always thought that scene was a little odd. I even remember people joking she enjoyed it when Luffy yelled at her 💀. Especially since in an earlier chapter, she told him: “My heart is going doki-doki. Is this what adventure feels like?” and Luffy replied, “If your heart goes doki-doki, then it’s an adventure!”
Now, why did Oda later make her say that her heart is going doki-doki when she’s being yelled at by Luffy…? Does she actually like that?😳
So when Loki raised his voice at Shaggy and she said, “Please don’t shout,” maybe her heart went doki-doki in that moment too? Lmao.
Yeah, it’s a reach, but if these two actually end up getting married, that tiny moment becomes an adorable bit of foreshadowing.
And honestly, I thought there’s no way Oda would remember that doki-doki line, let alone connect it to this chapter, but now I’m not so sure, because when I was flipping through Chapter 1133 (literally the one right before Shaggy is introduced), two words popped up, “Reunion” and “Doki Doki.”
Tumblr media
Total coincidence? Probably.
I only noticed because I was searching for Elbaf scenery, after seeing a very interesting tweet pointing out that Elbaf has a ton of rivers, making it a perfect place for Fishmen to migrate after the Red Line falls.
Which means, we can finally have the Fishmen living in the "realm of the sun"!!👀
6. Chapter 1151 Cover Story is a Shirahoshi reference
Shirahoshi’s name in kanji, 白星 or “Shiroboshi,” literally means “White Star.” In sumo terminology, a “white star” (白星) means victory, while a “black star” (黒星) means defeat.
Now, guess what’s happening in the cover story of Chapter 1151, which also just happens to be the second (and last) time Shaggy calls?
That’s right, Yamato winning a sumo match!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oda thinks he’s so funny for this.
If you know how Oda works, this one in particular is a HUGE hint and definitely not a coincidence! He plays with puns, names, and alternate meanings all the time.
7. Shirahoshi = Sigyn?? Norse Myth Parallels
In Norse mythology, Sigyn is Loki’s wife. Her name literally means “Victory.” The same meaning as Shirahoshi’s name in sumo terminology.
I did a quick research on her. (Sorry for the ai preview lol)
Tumblr media
What really sold me was her role as Loki's companion, alleviating his agony while he was being punished. Like that’s literally Mosa...
8. Shirahoshi reference in Chapter 1153 “The Birth of Loki”
Harald mentions the Pole Star (北極星 / hokkyokusei), a star used to guide sailors.
The kanji for star (星) appears twice in that panel, and one of them is pronounced as “hoshi.”
He mentions meeting the mermaids RIGHT AFTER!!
This supports my claim that Shirahoshi, “White Star,” is linked with the word “star” in Oda’s mind, which makes the Chapter 1151 cover story of Yamato winning a sumo match feel 100% intentional.
9. Blackbeard Is Making His Move
Shaggy's (Shirahoshi) current danger is most likely tied to Blackbeard. Oda didn’t make Caribou — a Blackbeard fanboy — to be the one who learns she’s Poseidon for no reason. When we see Blackbeard in chapter 1122, he lets Caribou spill what he knows, and in 1126 he’s shown heading somewhere (in Marijois direction probably). Now that we’re in the final saga, that setup is ready to pay off. And with Loki’s ties to Rocks, the collision of these plotlines is going to be very interesting, and it’s the perfect way to move the story forward after this arc.
Also if Blackbeard kidnapps Shirahoshi, then we might see her bonding with Pudding (the female version of Loki) lol
♡♡♡♡
Themes and symbolic parallels: Why This Reveal Would Be a Perfect Thematic Payoff
Adam and Eve Trees: Literal and Symbolic Anchors
Shirahoshi lives beneath the Eve Tree, the source of sunlight for the darkest part of the ocean.
Loki is bound to Treasure Tree Adam, the strongest tree in the world and the one used to build the Pirate King’s ship.
These aren’t just background lore trees.
They are sacred anchors for two halves of the world:
Eve is the sea’s light, Adam is the earth’s foundation.
One illuminates the deep, the other builds the unbreakable.
Oda isn’t just making a cool world. He’s setting up a collision of destinies.
If these two people, children of the sea and the land, are each bound beneath these trees, they are mythologically destined to meet and break free of the old world.
It does not get more “meant to be” than this.
Oda is cooking something biblical here.
"The Birth of Loki": Jörmungandr And Ragnarok (The Doom of Gods)
Chapter 1153, “The Birth of Loki,” is loaded with symbolism.
In this chapter, the Red Line is described as a “blood-soaked serpent,” which instantly evokes certain images: an ancient evil, something unnatural and oppressive, something that must be slain.
And here’s the kicker:
Only the giants refer to it that way!
As if they are the ones who understand what it really is. As if they alone carry the weight, or the destiny to destroy it.
Like it’s been their burden all along.
Which makes sense, right?
It fits. They’re the children of Warland. They forge ships large enough to carry nations. And now they’re calling the Red Line a serpent. A Jörmungandr.
In Norse myth, Loki’s son Jörmungandr is the serpent that encircles the world. In One Piece, the Red Line does exactly that. It’s soaked in centuries of blood, it divides the seas, it keeps Fishmen from the surface. It’s unnatural, it’s oppressive, and it has to be destroyed for true liberation.
Oda has said before that the cartoon “Vicky the Viking” sparked his childhood obsession with pirates, so I fully believe he has big plans for Elbaf. Loki in particular feels like the most important player in this arc. The Red Line–Jörmungandr connection alone puts Elbaf at the center of the endgame, and Loki’s role in its destruction feels almost inevitable.
Loki might even be the one needed to activate Pluton.
His ties to death and the underworld could go deeper than we think, possibly connecting him to Pluton—the ancient WARship capable of obliterating islands. The pieces fit: Loki is from WARland Elbaf, the land of war, and now we know giants are master shipwrights. It’s not far-fetched to think they helped build Pluton, or even Noah. Tom, a Fishman, had Pluton’s blueprints in Water 7.
What if Loki is Uranus, and that makes him the only one who can power it? (Yes give Loki everything)
What if the giants crafted Pluton in a way that it needs an enormous surge of electricity to activate, something only Uranus could generate?
Enel is a god of lightning, and he used lightning to power Maxim. Maybe that was just foreshadowing?? (Maxim looks exactly like the Galley-La company logo)
Remember that Robin found out Poseidon's location from skypiea's Poneglyph!!
The giants may even have built the walls around Wano, which would explain the ancient giant skull in Onigashima. Those walls could be hiding Pluton from non-giants, because who else could even break through them?
So what if the “star” (Shirahoshi) guides the “giant god” (Loki) to destroy the Red Line? Yes, in Norse myth, Jörmungandr is defeated by Thor, not Loki, but One Piece’s Loki wields Thor’s hammer, so....
This Pole star reference fascinates me honestly, why do we only hear about it now after 1153 chapters.... especially in a chapter titled "the birth of Loki", and right before Harald talks about witnessing Neptune's birth, this is probably a coincidence but “Star” references around birth scenes are very biblical and mythic (birth of Jesus under the Star of Bethlehem, etc.)
It's as if Oda wants us to think in terms of myth. stars heralding birth, a final act of cleansing, a new world rising.
And let’s be real: the giant strawhat in Marijois isn’t just for decoration. Someone’s gonna wear it.
Who better than Loki, a self-proclaimed Nika, leading a Ragnarok-style cleansing of the world? Maybe Shyarly’s prophecy wasn’t about Luffy alone. Luffy fights in duets now (Gear 5 Bonney, remember?)
Maybe that’s what the Harley meant by Nika "guiding the world to its final act", Luffy will guide, but he won't do it alone! I think we might see Loki at the climax, bringing the Holy Land crashing down for his dear Mosa with Rignar, in an attack named "Divine Judgment" for maximum irony....
Update: Chapter 1155 just made this even clearer. We see Loki overhearing Rocks talking about bringing Marijois crashing down!!!!
Tumblr media
(Also Rocks' sword has the empact of a hammer!! I just know Oda wants Marijois to be struck by a hammer so bad lol)
And that line about "claiming the world", you can just feel it hit Loki hard. His tears are falling. That’s the moment it clicks for him.
It’s not just ambition. It’s not just ego.
Loki thinks conquering the world will finally fill the void in his heart!!! the wound that's been gnawing at him since childhood. He thinks power will be the answer.
(Why aren't more people talking about this hidden motive???)
What if... in the end, he ends up doing it for someone?
If Oda really commits to the romance angle — and all signs are pointing there — then Loki claiming the world for Shaggy (Shirahoshi) won’t be about domination at all. It will be about love.
This is the only way his "love" plot can come full circle!!
He’ll break the Red Line for her.
He’ll fulfill her people’s centuries-old dream.
And in the process, he’ll finally heal.
That’s a win for the world, a win for Fishman Island, and a win for Loki.
And honestly, there’s something poetic about the three ancient weapons not just being superweapons, but a man, a woman, and a ship. That’s Noah’s story. That’s Adam and Eve with a vessel of salvation. That’s how you rebuild after the flood. Not with nukes, but with people, with a future.
Because at the end of the day, if you want to make it past the apocalypse, and survive the flood … You just need a man, a woman, and a really, really big boat. LMAO
Okay maybe that’s not literally what Oda is going for, but I just think it's a funny idea. It’s cheeky and fits the vibe way too well.
It’s kind of romantic.
It’s kind of biblical.
And it’s very, very One Piece.
I want to see myself at the end of One Piece being like: "This was truly our romance dawn" *sniff*
“Missionary of Love” Gyaban, Keeper of the Key
Gyaban’s title might be far more literal than we thought, a “Missionary of Love” not in some vague poetic sense, but as a crucial narrative force at the center of romance, revolution, and inherited will.
The timing of his introduction — right after the Harley chapter — isn't an accident. Gyaban doesn’t just know history. He’s guiding it. He’s not just a relic of Roger’s crew, he’s the one holding the key to a Loki’s chains, which opens up a floodgate of symbolic and narrative implications:
1- Symbolism of “Chains” and the “Key”
Chains usually represent guilt, suppression, duty, or inherited burden, and in Loki’s case, his unresolved guilt over his father’s death, and his banishment from Elbaf.
Gyaban holding the key implies that he, not the Straw Hats, is the one who can “liberate” Loki, whether that's Physically by unlocking his chains, spiritually by helping him face his past, or even politically by restoring him to his rightful role as Elbaf’s leader.
We already know Gyaban won’t be the one to physically set him free since he gave the key to Luffy. But in a deeper sense, he is freeing Loki, because he’s the one who tells him to speak the truth about what happened on that “awful day.” The fact that Loki’s chains will only come off after he sheds that burden is pure symbolism.
The “key” could also work on another level — as a metaphor for Poseidon’s activation — with Loki’s liberation becoming part of unlocking that greater power.
And by giving Luffy the key, Gyaban might be symbolically handing him the potential to awaken the mythic love story that will bring the world to its end and remake it anew. Because Luffy will be there, side-by-side with Loki, breaking the Red Line.
2- Symbolism of the title "Missionary of Love"
His title implies he's spreading a message rooted in love, maybe not just romantic love, but universal compassion, and unity across species.
He has direct knowledge of the Void Century, Laugh Tale, and Joy Boy’s promise, so he may have inherited Joy Boy’s ideals, and “Love” could be the name of the ideology he chooses to spread (in contrast to Imu’s control and fear).
If Shirahoshi and Loki finally meet, it could finally fulfill Joy Boy’s promise.
Gyaban may be nudging events toward this outcome like a secret matchmaker of the apocalypse.
He may even play a role in Loki’s reuniting with Shaggy, when Elbaf arc ends. (If this actually happens then you heard it here first folks! )
It’s worth noting that Otohime described Shirahoshi’s power as “a power of love” At the time, I thought she meant it in terms of breaking the cycle of hatred and Shirahoshi’s refusal to hate anyone, but the more the pieces line up, the more it feels like Oda meant it in every sense of the word...
Did Gyaban give Loki the Den Den Mushi?
I'm hoping for that, it would be very poetic!
A Den Den Mushi is a tool for connection. If Gyaban was the one to give it to Loki, it implies he was deliberately encouraging dialogue between the surface and the deep sea. It frames him as a matchmaker of fate.
It could be something as simple as Gyaban walking up to a chained Loki, setting down a Den Den Mushi, and saying: “There’s someone out there. Someday, she’ll need to hear your voice.”
And Loki’s like: “The hell does that mean?”
Gyaban walks away, and just smiles mysteriously saying: “Just answer when she calls.”
idk🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
(I will talk more about this in the possible scenarios for how Loki and Shaggy could've started talking)
Love And Interracial Marriage:
I don't think Loki being rejected by Lola is just a throwaway gag; it was the very first thing we learned about him, long before he even appeared on panel. That's deliberate.
Oda never introduces details like this for no reason.
That rejection tells us one thing loud and clear: Loki wants love.
It also shows that he’s open to outsiders; he’s not fixed on marrying someone within Elbaf’s walls. It framed him as a prince denied connection with the outside world, both emotionally and politically. His failed attempt to marry Lola essentially left a narrative space wide open for a real marriage later.
Meanwhile, Shirahoshi’s marriage has been brought up multiple times: Vander Decken wanted her by force, she received multiple proposals at the Reverie. This is a lingering, unresolved thread, and in One Piece, those always tie into the endgame.
So… who could she possibly marry? And does Loki fit the criteria?
Bigger than her? Check.
From a different race? Check.
carries the theme of breaking the old world’s prejudice? Check
Rejected once, and will have to learn how to choose love again? Check.
It’s Loki. There’s no one else.
Elbaf arc already leans into themes of love and interracial marriage. And let’s be real, Oda absolutely wants an interracial wedding party at the end of his series. What better way to signal that the races of the world have finally united?
I've seen people say she's only sixteen to refute this theory, but honestly, don't you know Oda by now? Knowing his track record, her being 16 only solidifies this theory💀 Loki is 21 in human age. That's Sanji's age. It's literally Sanji and pudding all over again.
Unfortunately Oda chose 16 to be the marriage-able age in one piece. And even then, it doesn’t have to happen immediately, there could easily be a time-skip before they actually get married. For now, they’re just penpals.
And if Loki turns out to be Uranus? Then Poseidon (goddess of the sea) marrying Uranus (god of the sky) is quite awesome, you have to admit. It's VERY romantic.
“Love Is Always a Hurricane” — Poseidon and Uranus: When the Sky Meets the Sea
If Loki really is Uranus, then the Prophecy about his meeting with Poseidon might refer to one of the oldest metaphors in literature, the classic image of the sky meeting the sea.
This isn’t just romantic; it’s mythic. Across poetry and storytelling traditions, the horizon — that distant line where the ocean kisses the heavens — is a visual shorthand for vastness, unity, and the precise moment when two completely different worlds touch.
And here's the thing:
The sun always rises from the horizon.
Where the sea meets the sky, dawn is born.
You could say that Shirahoshi and Loki meeting is what brings forth the dawn.
Romance Dawn ;)
The horizon is where transformation happens. it’s the place where cycles turn; from dusk to dawn, from ending to beginning, from death to rebirth.
It represents the boundless nature of the universe, the human spirit, or the spiritual realm, and the idea that even the most distant forces are linked.
This image also carries emotional weight. It speaks to peace, longing, hope, and belonging.
In poetry, this is the place where dreams rise, where something beautiful and impossible finally becomes real. It’s a symbol of hope, of daring to reach for the extraordinary.
That’s the wholesome part.
But their meeting can also bring destruction. When the weather turns and the sea boils, sailors say: “The sea and the sky are becoming one” It’s what they whisper before tsunamis, tempests, and floods.
And in One Piece, we keep hearing: “Love is always a hurricane”
In Norse myth, Ragnarok begins with unnatural storms, lightning tearing the sky, and the sea swallowing the land. Odin, Thor, Loki, all fall. The divine order collapses. The old world burns and floods. From those floodwaters, a new world emerges, one of peace, renewal, and rebirth.
In One Piece, the “gods” of the world are the Celestial Dragons, who literally live above everyone else. If Poseidon and Uranus meet, their storm could be big enough to drown the world.
In both Ragnarok and One Piece, the point isn’t just destruction; it’s transformation.
From the ashes of the old world, a new sun rises.
The horizon where the sea meets the sky isn’t just where disaster begins…
It’s where a new age is born.
“Surely, This Time, They Will Meet”
The Sea Kings’ prophecy and the Harleys’ prophecy sound eerily similar... both repeating that this time the meeting will finally happen.
Tumblr media
And only in Fishman Island and Elbaf do we actually see artifacts (the Harley and Noah) about this destined meeting; because these are the two kingdoms where the two sovereigns are from probably.
The top of Adam tree and the bottom of Eve tree. The ones left behind by the surface world.
The sea kings also said the whales will be happy when the two sovereigns finally meet. Why do you think that is? I think Loki Destroying the Red Line — which splits the seas and traps sea life — will be literal liberation for these whales. They've been trying to do that for so long now.
And it’s not just them!! There’s another long-awaited reunion that can only happen once the Red Line falls, one that will make a certain whale very happy: Brook and Laboon!
“This time they will meet” might not be about one single pair. Oda loves weaving multiple story threads into the same prophecy. It could refer to multiple characters actually! That's just how Oda does things!
"And another, in a distant sea"
Some people claim this line can’t be about Loki because he was already born at the time, but the Sea Kings never said he wasn’t. They just said “and another, in a distant sea.” That’s it.
I don't think they have business knowing whether he was born or not, they only know about what's happening in the ocean they're not omniscient lol
Three Sovereigns or just two?
Here’s where things get tricky.
People often conflate: The 3 Ancient Weapons (Pluton, Poseidon, Uranus) With 3 Sovereigns.
But the Sea Kings only mention TWO sovereigns. We’ve never been told there are three. So the idea of “three sovereigns” may just be a fan assumption built off the weapons. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
(Update: In chapter 1155, Imu calls the five kidnapped kings "sovereigns", so “sovereign” probably just means royalty, which would exclude Luffy.)
Why Momonosuke & Luffy don't Fit:
if you look at the story Momonosuke has zero connections to Fishman Island. He wasn't even born in a "distant sea" (he was born on Roger's ship). He's tied to Zou, that's why he can command Zunesha, and that's who the land of Wano are allied with.
As for Luffy, he has met Shirahoshi already, and the sea kings seemed chill about it. And a “Sovereign” implies rule, a throne, inherited power. Luffy explicitly rejects all of those.
He said: “I don’t want to be a hero.”
“I don’t want to be a ruler.”
“I want to be free.”
That makes him symbolically incompatible with the word “sovereign.”
So, while he may be: the reincarnation of Joy Boy, the user of the Nika fruit, and the future Pirate King, ...those are not necessarily what the Sea Kings mean when they say “sovereign.”
Luffy noticing their voices doesn't mean much, like they said it did happen before. With Roger, and Oden. It probably has more to do with the voice of all things rather than him being the sovereign.
So right now? All signs still point to Loki.
It feels like Fishman Island is to Elbaf what Wano is to Zou; two kingdoms linked by a deeper, older pact.
Did the giants build Noah?
In chapter 649, the Sea Kings say:
“We will need their help to fix it. But it’s a different age now.”
And in a different translation they say "that clan".
Tumblr media
It’s unclear who "they" are.
If you look at Noah’s sheer scale, the obvious suspects are giants. And now that Elbaf is associated with master shipwrights, it fits neatly.
And here’s the thing, Fishmen aren’t known for shipbuilding expertise. They can breathe underwater, so they’ve had no evolutionary or cultural need to build large sailing vessels for long voyages.
Noah is not a small project. It’s not just a ship, it’s a floating city! The logistics, timber strength, and engineering are on another scale!
The Sea Kings saying “but it’s a different age now” could easily mean: in the Void Century, only that ancient clan (likely giants) had the knowledge and ability to build or repair something like Noah, but in the modern age, that expertise has spread; now human companies like Galley-La might manage it.
(Btw I just realized.... does Wadatsumi have giant blood? Don’t rule it out. He’s often played for comedy, but his existence may hint at past interbreeding between giants and Fishmen, especially among royal or warrior lines. If Neptune’s line has even a trace of giant ancestry, it might explain why Shirahoshi is so massive)
♡♡♡♡
My 3 Scenarios for How This Unlikely Penpalship Could Have Started
The logistics:
before I go into the scenarios, we need to talk about the logistics:
From what we know, Den Den Mushis have range limits, So how the hell are they talking from Elbaf all the way to Fishman Island, which is beneath the Red Line??
The answer is quite simple. When it comes to Den Den Mushis, Oda has historically waved the "shonen logic" wand. He has done it so many times now. He already broke his old rules with Loki's Den Den Mushi, he just put a beard on it and called it a cold resistant, voice recognition type. lol
So yeah, he could come up with something.
Perhaps the secret lies in the Adam and Eve trees Connection. If a mystical, ancient link exists between these trees — roots that act as communication conduits or energy relays — then Den Den Mushis could theoretically function unimpeded even across vast distances, as long as they're synced through that channel.
But even after answering that, Loki having a Den Den Mushi connected to Fishman Island (let alone Shirahoshi) is WILD.
Like?? That’s not a number you just stumble into???
First scenario: What if Harald and Neptune were friends ?!
1. Established Relations
Harald visited Fishman Island & witnessed Neptune’s birth. That places him at the heart of Fishman-Elbaf relations, long before the current generation. He’s already made a personal connection with the royal family.
2. Possible encounters at the Reverie (and therefore personal relations)
Harald was at the Reverie 16 years ago (confirmed by Shanks), that overlaps with Shirahoshi's birth, so maybe Neptune told Harald, which means Harald knows she exists.
If Harald and Neptune exchanged numbers at that time, or kept in touch from previous visits, that’s totally within worldbuilding rules. Royal families and allies do exchange private lines.
Update: in chapter 1154, we see Harald chatting about a buddy of his 56 years ago who is a king. 👀 I was so excited when I read that, hahaha.
It can't be Neptune since he would've been only 14 at the time, but it could be Neptune's father! He had met him before, when he witnessed Neptune's birth! He's probably HUGE, possibly even bigger than Neptune, which is why he was able to smuggle Harald as his guard!
Also, Neptune was the captain of the royal guards before becoming king, so he probably encountered Harald at the Reverie before becoming king himself.
And yeah, even without all the specifics, Harald casually dropping “king buddies” into conversation just makes it easier to imagine him setting up big-picture diplomacy moves.
What if there was talk of a political marriage?
This is an unlikely branch of this scenario, but it occurred to me, so I'm gonna say it.
What if… 14 years ago, Harald summoned Loki to propose the idea of a future marriage between him and the newborn mermaid princess Shirahoshi?
(Shirahoshi would have been only two years old, but hold on... because Loki’s age is actually the key here)
In royal politics, future betrothals are negotiated early, and 14 years ago Loki would've been 49, which is 16 in human age, which makes Harald suggesting marriage to him kinda funny cuz he's basically giving Loki one piece princess treatment. This really is the marriage-able age to Oda huh?
So what if he was planning on telling Loki something along the lines of:
“My son. Now that you’ve come of age, I’d like to hear your thoughts on something. I have a dear friend — a fellow king — and he has a daughter. How would you feel about the idea of marrying her in the future? It would be for the sake of strengthening the bond between our two kingdoms.”
Remember that in 1153 Harald said: "their people carry the blood of the ocean", revering Fishman heritage. He sees a great symbolic value in the royal line of Ryugu !!
So a royal marriage between Elbaf and Fishman Island would not be out of the question.
Maybe Harald even thought he was helping his friend Neptune, because 14 years ago was the year after Fisher Tiger freed the slaves from Marijois. Fishman-Human relations were at their worst at that time.
If you think about it King Neptune would want to honor Otohime’s dream, and with few surface kingdoms not racist, Elbaf is one of the only suitable candidates. (Suitable size to his daughter too) so even if Harald never met Neptune, Neptune's parents could have told him pleasant things about Harald which could've stuck with him. Perhaps Harald was the first safe option that came to Neptune's mind when he considered a possible political marriage.
(Also important note: Neptune already suspects Shirahoshi is Poseidon he was informed by Roger)
So considering Neptune has no other options, maybe after Shirahoshi was born, Harald told him he will wait and not marry Loki off yet since -he's at a marriage-able age- and reserve him until Shirahoshi's of age.
The funniest thing about this scenario to me is the fact that this “ future marriage idea” could easily be what triggered Imu’s wrath and ultimately led to Harald’s assassination.
I know the popular theory is that this was about the fruit, but Elbaf had that fruit for centuries. And the fact that Imu chose to kill him right when Loki came back is stupid and very sus, that would make Loki even more antagonistic towards the WG, (unless Imu did that to put the blame on Loki), but it’s funny to think that imu wanted to stop Harald from proposing this marriage idea at all costs! Idk that's just so pity that it's funny to me.
Most importantly, this paints Harald as a visionary king who tried to forge peace and paid the price. It gives his death more meaning!
That would make Harald’s blunder = daring to unite the two Sovereigns
Hell, even if Loki wasn't the sovereign, Imu would still NOT like that.
Depending on how the Loki flashback goes, Loki might've discovered things about himself in that "awful day". Maybe it's gonna be the day where he first discovers his true powers (Uranus) after his father's death, just like we found out about Shirahoshi's power when her mother was in danger. Maybe it's the first time he'll lift Ragnir; maybe he could do that because he's Uranus; or because of the fruit he ate; or maybe the hammer itself is Uranus, summoning thunder from the sky. Perhaps all of the above!! Who knows. But something certainly did happen that day.
So what I'm saying is maybe Gyaban and Shanks got the denden mushi that connects to fishman Island from the palace on that day. Maybe Gyaban kept it with him until the proper time to give it to Loki.
Maybe Harald’s friendship with Neptune was one of the things Shanks wanted to warn him about. Think about it, he saw them interacting at the Reverie 16 years ago, but didn’t come to Elbaf to speak with Harald until two years later. He didn’t seem especially urgent, either. He was relaxing in a bath with Gabban, as if the situation wasn’t critical yet! As if there was still time. Two years, in fact, until the next Reverie!
Conclusion: I like this scenario because it gives Harald’s death more meaning, if he was killed for daring to unite nations, then that paints him as a martyr just like Queen Otohime.
And that would make Loki and Shirahoshi’s eventual union all the more powerful, because they’d be fulfilling the dreams of their parents. Even if Loki never knew what his father had planned for him… he ends up carrying out his will anyway.
Yeah this arranged marriage scenario is the least likely one but it's a full political thriller-meets-romantic prophecy epic so I really like it lol
Hints that could support this scenario:
These panels:
Tumblr media
Vander Decken "suspects" that's the case, but then again he ends all his sentences with "I suspect" even for known stuff.
I think Oda just wanted to put the words: "Shirahoshi, and political marriage" in our heads for foreshadowing reasons, doesn't necessarily mean Neptune has already planned that.
It's also worth noting that Neptune waited until Shirahoshi's 16 (marriage-able age in one piece) to finally ask the World Government to migrate!
And we can only assume that Neptune has a certain "safe" place in mind he wants Fishmen to migrate to???? Could it be Elbaf???
Also, Shirahoshi's expression here is certainly interesting... but then again, she often looks like that lol. But it does add up to what we know about Shaggy, she was scared of Loki, and only started to view him differently recently. And we know she's scared of going to the surface anyways.
Second scenario: through Shanks (the 4D chess player & the new age errand runner), Gyaban (missionary of love), and maybe even Rayleigh.
This scenario is based on the theory that Shanks chained Loki to stop him from fighting the WG until all the sovereigns are ready for the final battle. Which led to Loki holding a grudge and viewing him as a coward.
The Timeline was weirdly making sense while I was coming up with this scenario so hear me out...
So it goes like this:
14 years ago: Shanks is in Elbaf. He witnesses King Harald’s death, Loki’s awakening, and discovers that he’s Uranus, or the second sovereign.
12 years ago: Shanks meets Luffy and places his bet on him as Joy Boy.
~6 years ago: Shanks "runs into" Rayleigh at Sabaody. They didn't plan it! Rayleigh literally says it was a coincidence! Meaning, Shanks didn't even know Rayleigh was on that island!!!
Now why the hell was Shanks in sabaody?! He went there only ONCE, and that was after meeting Luffy! did he have some "new era" errands to do again maybe? He NEVER went back even with Rayleigh being there so I assume he doesn't like that place very much (understandably).
So the idea is... I think he might have went to sabaody right before he headed to Elbaf again to connect the two sovereigns somehow.
We don't know how many years ago it was when Shanks met Rayleigh, if it's actually 6 years ago then, that would support this scenario.
So it's either Shanks went to Fishman Island himself and talked with Neptune, or he decided to give the den den mushi to Rayleigh who promised to deliver it to Neptune when the time is right.
I admit, I was about to give up on this scenario; because Rayleigh never went to Fishman Island after Roger… right?
But then I remembered that him and Shakky are friends with Hatchi! Yes Hatchi was still with Arlong at that time. So he probably didn't deliver it to Neptune until after arlong's defeat, shirahoshi would be 14 at that time.
Still very young but still within Oda's range (Rebecca's mother (15) married Kyros (25) so yeah when compared to marriage, a penpal is nothing💀) also this is way more tasteful than if they were talking the whole six years loki was imprisoned cuz she would have been only 10 at the start of it💀💀💀
Loki said he knew Mosa for a long time, but I guess two years is enough to be considered a long time in one piece right? Especially since they're locked up and have nothing else to do. It's certainly longer than the time the Strawhats spent together lol
(This quote of his is interesting in Japanese, I have A LOT to say about their conversations, I'll dive into it in a bit)
Now here's where it gets even juicier.
Rayleigh has his own love theme. He literally married the ex-Empress of Amazon Lily, a woman who gave up everything for love. If both our "ferrymen," Rayleigh and Gyaban, are hopeless romantics… it fits way too well!!
This Rayleigh-Hachi connection seems suspicious to me, it's like Oda wanted a member of Roger’s crew to have a connection to fishman island. You know he loves those tiny bridges across arcs that don’t seem significant until ten years later.
Think about it where do we see Roger’s old crewmembers?
They seem intentionally spread out:
One near Fishman Island, one in Elbaf, aaaand one waiting by the Red Line with a whale.
Yupppp nothing suspicious at alll!! It's not like they're watching over something or anything!!!!!!
Back to Shanks:
When he returns to Elbaf, he finds Loki rampaging for some reason, probably trying to start a war with the WG. Shanks steps in because it’s too early. Poseidon’s still too young, Joy Boy hasn’t awakened, and Momo's chilling in a pocket dimension. So Shanks intervenes.
Loki, naturally, thinks he’s a coward.
Shanks gives Gyaban a Den Den Mushi and tells him to give it to loki when it connects with the mermaid princess one day. Or maybe Shanks straight up just gives it to Loki and tells him that one day, a "shaggy princess" will respond. Lmao
The popular opinion is that Loki calls her shaggy because of the snail's appearance, but it would be funnier if Loki borrowed the name from Shanks and Gyaban since neither of those two saw the princess but they certainly remember Neptune, and they certainly remember the joke Roger made.
We don't know how much Loki knows about Shaggy, but him adding the "kō" 公 at the end of Mosakō suggests Loki knows she's royalty. So the name he keeps calling her seems to be more about her than about the appearance of the Den Den Mushi.
Idk something about Shanks and Gyaban referring to her as shaggy in front of Loki which leads to him adopting the name is just so Oda-coded it hurts.
Third scenario: Talking Into the Void:
Loki, who's lonely and raging beneath the Adam Tree, is given a Den Den Mushi.
Maybe it’s smuggled in by one of his guards, or Gyaban gives it to him for some reason (matchmaking).
Shirahoshi, locked away in her tower beneath the sea, finds a Den Den Mushi that was dropped by a careless guard.
They both begin speaking into the void, not expecting a response, and then it happens: They connect.
Suddenly, the rageful sun god and the shy sea goddess are… penpals.
I imagine this scenario is what most people picture when hearing about Mosa being Shirahoshi.
And I can see why. It's the most “storybook fate” one of the three! towered princess, chained prince, talking into the void, fated meeting across worlds, hidden royal connection... It’s whimsical and accidental 100% feels like a fairy tale, I can see Oda going with this.
And if it feels too convenient he can always come up with something. Den Den Mushi work on frequencies. It’s not impossible to imagine one pair on the same frequency by accident, especially if something about the Adam and Eve Trees enhances or syncs transmission signals.
And Shirahoshi is shown to be curious and kind, so her responding to a random snail fits her perfectly.
Loki: Imprisoned, misunderstood, full of explosive energy with nowhere to put it.
Shirahoshi: Locked away, timid and gentle, crushed by fear and expectations.
They’re polar opposites in tone but equal in isolation. Both prisoners of fate, in their own ways.
They represent voices that carry across the sea, destinies that are meant to meet, even when the world tries to stop them
This is One Piece’s soul.
Does Her father know about this?
it’s very likely her father does not know.
1. He’s shown to be extremely protective of her, he’s highly emotional and reactive when it comes to her safety; that makes it highly unlikely he would allow her to freely speak with outsiders via Den Den Mushi.
2. Shirahoshi has a history of doing things in secret. She kept secret the fact that she knew who killed her mother for 10 years; to avoid causing violence.
She even snuck out to go to the Sea Forest with Luffy once she knew she would be safe.
Her behavior shows she is capable of making her own decisions, but she hides them when she thinks her father wouldn’t approve.
But who knows? Roger spoke to Neptune about his daughter's future, and if the Den Den Mushi came from Roger’s crewmembers, and the sovereign turned out to be his friend's son, then Neptune might allow it.
♡♡♡♡
Weak Spots Of This Theory (And Why They Might Not Be Fatal)
1. No prior indication that Shirahoshi used a Den Den Mushi in her room.
Very patchable. This is exactly the kind of thing Oda could backfill with one cute SBS.
"Ah, teenage girls and their private hobbies, you never know what they do alone in their room all day!"
Oda has a daughter lol.
2- Shirahoshi said to Luffy: "no one has ever yelled at me before", and "no one has ever said such mean things to me before" which contradicts what we know of Loki.
Tumblr media
But, hear me out..... Loki was actually kinda sweet to her? The only time we see him being mean was when she alluded to his layered kindness (which she just noticed) and that was clearly the first time she said something like that judging by his reaction.... She did say talking to him was scary at first which means he was probably saying violent stuff but not necessarily directed at her!
Him being a little sweet (-er than he's used to) towards her is probably the reason he's embarrassed to talk to her in front of other people guys...
3- At the end of Fishman Island, Shirahoshi says she "finally made a real friend", and she also calls Megalo her "best friend" implying she doesn't consider Loki a friend.
Tumblr media
I don't think this is a weakness honestly, it's obvious Shaggy didn’t consider Loki a friend until recently, which is a bit sad because Loki thinks they've been friends for a while.
This line in chapter 1151 is everything: “At first it was scary talking to you…” It implies she had no choice in the matter.
Either because:
1- She was handed the Den Den Mushi from time to time as a potential engagement setup. Meaning the interaction was arranged, or expected of her, and she felt trapped in the interaction, and after meeting Luffy (who’s just like Loki) she started to appreciate it.
2- Or she stumbled into it with no one else to talk to and kept coming back out of loneliness. It was scary at first, but over time… it became comfort.
For the first one I can see Oda making a joke that she did not refuse this arrangement solely because she didn't see Loki and therefore she can't just blurt out her usual "you're not my type" excuse lmao, or maybe she thought refusing would be selfish, and would hinder her mother’s dream.
From Loki’s POV: those same two years are a friendship. He’s never had a real friend, so he’s projecting a lot of value onto these conversations. He hears her voice regularly, she doesn’t run away, so in his mind, they’re close.
This contrast actually amplifies the emotional payoff later, when she starts to see the layers in his personality after meeting Luffy and learning how to read “tsunderes,” she reinterprets those years and begins to cherish them, and decides to properly thank him, which is so her btw
Tumblr media
It’s bittersweet too, because when she finally does think of Loki as a friend, it’s right before she says goodbye. That’s a perfect Oda-style setup for a later, much more meaningful reunion.
Let's be real:
If it turns out to be actually Shirahoshi, then we all know that the real reason for all those weaknesses is that Oda probably only decided to make them penpals recently.
BUT, Oda loves writing fate retroactively.
And the setup (Shirahoshi + Loki) is emotionally and thematically strong enough to justify the backfill.
What I'm saying is, there are enough reasons to think it's Shirahoshi, and I don't think these small patchable details are enough to rule her out.
people overestimate Oda sometimes, he DOES make mistakes. If you go back to buggy's flashback you'll see Roger’s crew doubting the existence of devil fruits after buggy eats a fake one lol
All the stuff Shirahoshi said in Fishman Island is probably just Oda trying to show us how extremely sheltered she is, he didn't expect it to bite him in the ass 500 chapters later. Cut him some slack.

What the Japanese Dialogue Really Says
Apart from the den den mushi's eyelashes, and Japanese fans saying Shaggy talks like a timid girl, I've also seen them say that Loki is TREATING Mosa like a girl, I've seen comments like:
"is Loki being a dere dere to Mosakō?"
"what is this Shoujo manga exchange?"
"is this a romance flag? lol"
"calling a girl Shaggy is awful www"
some people seem to sense something there akin to courtship. I can totally see that lmao, especially since he DOES NOT want other people around him when he talks with her, Gerd's reaction says A LOT honestly, it told me all I needed to know.
Especially when he was talking about wiping everyone out for her, tell me he doesn’t sound like a guy who’s been thrown in jail, getting to talk to his girlfriend on the phone, still trying to act tough, bragging about beating people up and killing them as if that’s not literally the reason he’s in jail in the first place. It’s hilarious.
Maybe you would say, what if he just wants to protect his only friend?
And honestly? The fact that it's clearly a girl, the way their personalities couldn't be more opposite, and the whole plot of Loki being about love, all of that just tells me that it's indeed a romance flag. lol
♡♡♡♡
A lot of subtle details that shift the tone of the conversation get lost in the English translation, so I’m including the Japanese lines as well. I know the Japanese pages aren't easy to find for free, and I wish I could include pictures of them, but I’ve already reached Tumblr's image limit.
Loki: 「ああ お前もだいぶヒマなんだな!!」
Ā omae mo daibu hima nanda na!!
「Ah... you have a lot of free time too, huh」
Mosakō: 「ご迷惑 でしたか ?」
Go meewaku desh’ta ka?
「Am I bothering you?」
Loki: 「いやア こっちも いいヒマ 潰しだ、 いくらでも時間があるからよ」
Iyaa, kocchi mo ii hima tsubushi da, ikura demo jikan ga aru kara yo.
「Nah, it’s a good way to pass the time for me too. I’ve got all the time in the world.」
Notes:
When Shaggy asked if she was bothering him, Loki replied with: "Nah, this is a good way to kill time for me too."
He's assuring her she's not being a bother. And this is his awkward, macho way of saying: “Don’t worry about it, I don’t mind talking to you.”
But what makes it interesting is how he phrases it. he could have just said:
「いや、迷惑じゃねェよ」
Iyya, meiwaku ja neyo
"Nah, you're not a bother."
But instead he says: “It’s a good way to kill time.”
That’s classic tsundere deflection.
That's like someone saying: “Pfft, you didn’t annoy me. I was just killing time anyway...”
This is him downplaying how much he clearly enjoys the conversation. He's being tsundere as hell hiding his emotions behind a mask of nonchalance. So he frames it like: “It’s not about you. I’m just bored, that’s all.”
Which, of course, we know is total cap, because when she actually tries to leave for good in Chapter 1151, he completely panics: shouts, tries to get her location, demands she not hang up, gets flustered when Gerd hears him.
♡♡♡♡
Loki: 「お前に話してた恐怖体験は、まだ引きずってんのか?」
Omae ni hanashiteta kyōfu taiken wa, mada hikizutten no ka?
「That horror experience you told me about... is it still affecting you?」
Mosakō: 「はい今でも思い出すと震えが止まりません...」
Hai, ima demo omoidasu to furue ga tomarimasen...
「yes... I still can't stop shaking whenever I remember」
Loki: 「おれも もどかしかったさ!! 」
Ore mo modokashikatta sa!!
「 It was frustrating for me too!」
「見た事も会った事もねぇけどよ
何の因果か、お前とは長ェこと友達なんだ」
Mita koto mo atta koto mo nē kedo yo, nan no inga ka, omae to wa nagē koto tomodachi nanda.
「 I've never seen you or met you before, but by a twist of fate, we've been friends for a long time.」
Notes:
Loki says: “I've never seen you or met you before, but…”
けどよ = rough, masculine way of saying "but, y’know"
This sets the stage for an emotional contradiction: they’ve never met, yet…
「何の因果か。。。」
“Because of some strange fate…” or literally, “What kind of karma is this…”
因果 = literally "karma" or "fate"; often used in old-fashioned or dramatic speech
It’s not just random chance; it's some mysterious connection through fate or consequences.
It’s made up of:
因 (in) = cause
果 (ga) = effect/result
Together, it refers to a chain of cause and effect; why things happen, sometimes beyond logic. It's a Buddhist concept, but also widely used in Japanese for:
Fate or destiny
A strange connection
A twist of fate
“Karma” (in the casual or spiritual sense)
Loki’s basically like:
"This bond doesn’t make logical sense, yet it’s real."
He feels the bond, even if it’s strange.
And for a guy like Loki it's a very vulnerable thing to say. He’s brushing it off with slangy delivery but still admitting:
“You matter to me.”
And “I don’t know why, but I’ve accepted it.”
Loki doesn’t understand why they’re close, but feels it's fate-bound.
The word 因果 (inga) does come up in other places throughout One Piece, though not super frequently, and when it does, it’s usually emotionally or thematically loaded. It tends to appear in dialogue or narration that touches on destiny, revenge, inherited will, or strange connections between characters.
In Loki’s Case, his use of 因果 is surprisingly poetic and humble for someone like him:
It has the feel of: “I guess the universe just threw us together…”
“It must be some karmic reason why I feel this way.”
Almost like he doesn’t understand it himself, but he accepts that “there’s something about us that was meant to happen.”
The phrase 長ェこと for "long time" is colloquial and somewhat intimate. It implies a feeling of time passing, not an objective measurement. It often refers to an emotional span. If something feels enduring, it is enduring.
So it definitely could be just two years in this context!
One could say that two years is nothing to him since he's a giant, but when he was talking about his predicament to Luffy he asked in appallment "Can you believe it's been six years?" which means he does consider 6 years to be a very long time.
Two years of talking in secret to the only person you regularly speak to while isolated and unable to leave feels much longer emotionally, especially for Loki, who never had a friend, so having a person to speak to for two whole years is unprecedented, no wonder he considers that a long time friendship. (again, that's literally longer than the time the Strawhats spent together lol)
I'm just sure that this "long time" he had known Shaggy can't be more than 6 years, since it's obvious (in my opinion) that Loki didn't know about Shaggy before his Imprisonment, otherwise he would've done something to help her earlier.
♡♡♡♡
Loki: 「おれがその現場こいたらお前に代わって そこら一帯を廃墟にし!!皆殺しにしてた!!!」
Ore ga sono genba koitara omae ni kawatte sokora ittai o haikyo ni shi!! Minagoroshi ni shiteta!!!
「 If I’d been at that scene, I’d have turned the whole place to rubble on your behalf!!! I would’ve massacred every last one of them!!」
Mosakō: 「そ… そこまでは望んでません!!」
So... sokomade wa nozondemasen!!
「I.... I don't want that much!」
Notes:
The key phrase here is:
「お前に代わって」
This literally means: "on your behalf" or "in your stead."
He’s not saying, “If I were you…”
He’s saying, “If I had been there at the scene, I would’ve avenged you.”
He’s expressing protective anger, especially When paired with his previous line: “It was frustrating for me too…”
it makes it clear he was deeply frustrated about the situation and his own limits, which is a sign of emotional investment.
Making her response:
「そ… そこまでは望んでません!!」
so ... soko made wa nozon de masen !!
"I....I don't want that much!!" Make more sense.
I’m mentioning this because the official translation didn’t really give me that impression… I assumed he was just talking about a purely hypothetical scenario.

Loki: 「それが甘エっつってんだよモサ公!!」
Sore ga amee ttsutten da yo, Mosa-kō!!
「That’s what I mean by you being too soft, Shaggy!!」
「いいか一度取り逃がしたばかは再起不能にしねエと復讐に来るんだ!!」
Iika, ichido torinagashita baka wa saikifunō ni shinee to fukushū ni kurun da!!
「Listen—once you let an idiot slip away, you’ve gotta put them down for good, or they’ll come back for revenge!!」
Mosakō: 「......!! ありがとうございます」
......!! Arigatō gozaimasu.
「.........!!! Thank you very much」
Loki: 「あア!?」
Ā!?!
「huh!?」
Mosakō: 「そういう乱暴な言葉の裏にあなたの優しさがあると最初気づきました」
Sō iu ranbō na kotoba no ura ni anata no yasashisa ga aru to saisho kizukimashita.
「your kindness lies behind such violent words, I just noticed this」
Notes:
Her pause 「......!!」 before thanking him shows a sudden emotional realization.
She explicitly says she’s noticed the kindness behind his roughness for the first time, which feels like an intimacy milestone.
This is a turning point where subtext shifts from pure banter to emotional awareness.
In Japanese, 最初気づきました can be a bit ambiguous because 最初 can mean:
“at first / from the beginning” (if the speaker is recalling a past realization), or “for the first time” (if the speaker just now became aware of something).
Here, paired with the surprised pause 「......!!」, it reads more naturally as: “I just realized it for the first time.”
It’s amusing that she’s just now noticing this, totally suits her nickname "Mosa" which hints at her being a bit slow lol

Loki: 「おいイ!!💢 虫唾が走るぜ極めて心外だ!!!調子にのるなよてめエ!!!やさしさだと!?二度と口にするな!!」

「 DON'T GET CARRIED AWAY YOU ! ! ! KINDNESS YOU SAY! ? NEVER SAY THAT AGAIN ! !」
Mosakō: 「大きな声はおやめください💦」
Ōkina koe wa oyame kudasai 💦
「Please don't raise your voice💦」
Loki: だまれモサ公錠が外れたら覚えてろよ!!!💢
Damare, Mosa-kō! Jō ga hazuretare oboetero yo!!! 💢
「Shut up Shaggy!! just wait till these locks comes off! ! !💢」
Notes:
Ah, yes, the page where Loki’s at his peak tsundere behavior
I'll focus on the last panel of him on the bottom left, because I have a LOT to say about it.
Loki’s flustered because she saw through him; so he ends the call with extra bluster: "Shut up, Mosa-kō! When the lock comes off, you’d better remember this!!! 💢"
On the surface it’s a threat, but in context it’s bravado hiding embarrassment. In Japanese, 覚えてろよ (oboetero yo) can mean “you’ll see” in a hostile way, but also “just wait, I’ll show you” in a protective way. Given their friendship and his earlier frustration at not being able to protect her, it reads more like:
“Just you wait — when this lock comes off, you’ll see I mean it!”
or “When the lock comes off, I’ll show you (I’ll make them pay)!”
In reality, it’s half bravado, half promise. It keeps the aggressive front but leaves room for the reader to understand he’s not actually angry at her.
And that cinematic Close-Up of the side of his face, with his eyes hidden by the speech bubble, and visible breath escaping his lips, is masterclass visual storytelling!
That exact framing usually reveals vulnerability or resolve in manga.
We don’t get to see his full expression, because he himself doesn’t want to be seen. Not when he’s that raw. Not when the mask slips.
Why hide the eyes?
Because Oda wants to force the audience to focus on what Loki can’t control:
His tone, his voice, his breath.
It’s an emotional cornering, as if Loki is trying to yell away his feelings, but Oda betrays him by making us see through the cracks.
The fact that the bubble covers his eyes isn’t just an accident; it acts as a barrier, as if Loki is shielding himself with his words.
He won’t let Shirahoshi (or us) see what’s truly behind them.
(Yes his eyes are already covered with bandages, but this bubble speech technique is more telling of the author's intent, especially since Oda chose to not show Loki’s face while he was lashing out, and chose to zoom out and show us the forest instead)
And yet… by doing so, Oda invites us to want to see more. It’s a tease, we want to know what’s behind that wall, just like Shirahoshi does.
He’s literally cornered in the frame (pun intended), So he says the only thing he can: “Shut up.”
And it’s not just a shut-up, it’s please stop noticing that I’m not who I pretend to be.
Because what Shirahoshi said — that she's noticed his kindness — is terrifying to him.
That kindness is the one part of himself he’s tried hardest to bury.
The old Loki, the prince in chains, the cursed child, doesn’t know what to do with softness. It doesn’t fit in the narrative he’s constructed of himself: weapon, ruler, fury, judgment.
So her basically saying that “your words have been kind lately” threatens everything he believes about who he is… and maybe more frighteningly, everything he wants to believe isn’t true about himself.
When Shirahoshi tells him not to shout, she’s doing something nobody else does: she speaks to the person beneath the fury. And that’s what Loki can’t handle.
He's completely flustered, So he ends the call immediately, and tells her to just shut up and wait.
"Just wait"
That’s not a threat. That’s not villain talk.
That’s yearning.
It’s like her kindness disarmed him. Like for a second, he remembered what it was like to be seen as human, and it hurt. It made him want to run to her, and also shut her out at the same time. So he lashes out; not to push her away, but to stop himself from falling in.
The irony?
Her noticing his kindness is exactly what makes him more determined to reach her.
This panel screams:
“I don’t know how to handle being cared about. But I’m coming anyway.”
It's very subtle, but it’s one of those panels that tells you more than a whole page of dialogue ever could.
I just really love this panel okay??!!
Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but just picture it in anime format, and it instantly becomes ten times more intense!
We’d have Loki acting all proud and fearless, boasting about wiping out everyone on her behalf. He even starts instructing her on how to protect herself, and I’m guessing this was him being unusually considerate because it finally gets through her thick skull that his bravado is just an act. She’s so pure-hearted that she points it out right away, and suddenly the atmosphere shifts. The camera pulls back to the forest as we hear Loki going off at full volume, shouting the most tsundere lines known to man. She cuts in with her timid little, “Please don’t yell,” and the tone shifts yet again. Now it’s a tight close-up of his lower face and lips, his breath visible in the cold air as he growls, “Shut up, Mosakō… just wait till these shackles come off.”
The scene slowly fades out…
Just imagining it makes my heart go doki-doki!
(That would be the perfect way to adapt it... but unfortunately, I doubt toei is doing all of that lol)
And him saying “don’t speak of kindness again” is heartbreaking when you realize he wants her to keep seeing it, even if he denies it. Because now that someone has looked at him and not seen a monster, he can't go back.
I think if Loki ever falls in love with her, it wouldn’t be because of her looks when he sees her (like his love at first sight with Lola), but because SHE saw the REAL him.
This moment right here could have been the turning point.
Because After this he becomes noticeably more desperate to break free from his chains, and that is even before her second call which made him even more urgent. I honestly believe that once the Elbaf arc wraps up he is heading straight to her.
♡♡♡♡
Her second call:
Mosakō: 「もしもし ロキ さ◯」

Loki: 「てめエ誰にも言ランじゃねエぞ!!」💢
Temee, dare ni mo iwan janee zo!! 💢
「You better not tell anyone!! 💢」
Notes:
1. Shaggy's tone is soft, vulnerable, and full of gratitude. She calls Loki specifically to say thank you, even though She's in a hurry and something serious is happening. That alone signals emotional attachment. Even in platonic form, the phrasing is poetic and heartfelt. It reads like an “I didn’t realize how much you mean to me” scene.
2. She says Loki became her "irreplaceable source of peace". That’s deeply intimate language, especially for One Piece, where characters rarely express their feelings so earnestly. (Another reason why there is no way Shaggy is a man lmao they don't make men like this in one piece).
3. Loki’s panic at the idea that Shaggy might be in danger again is telling, he instantly assumes the worst, interrupts, yells, and demands to know where she is. That’s protective instinct in overdrive.
4. And the cherry on top? Gerd teases Loki, calling him "安らぎの人" (person of peace), using Shaggy's exact wording, and poking fun at the fact that Shaggy described him so affectionately. Loki’s defensive reaction of "Don’t you dare tell anyone!!" is textbook flustered tsundere energy.
Gerd is definitely teasing Loki for being soft on Shaggy, which very strongly implies that Shaggy's words were taken as unusually affectionate.
And the timing!! immediately after the emotionally charged call ends, is Oda-level subtext mastery. Gerd is your Greek chorus here. Her tone tells the audience: “You’re watching a crush. This is a crush. He’s crushing. And he’s embarrassed.”
It's a shame the official translations ignored this detail completely. It adds so much.
It gives the Mosa–Loki dynamic romantic undertones, even if it's subtle and veiled in sarcasm.
The phrase “安らぎの人” (yasuragi no hito) is intimate.
This isn’t an everyday expression; it reads like something out of a poem, letter, or dramatic scene. It’s emotional and personal. Calling someone your “person of peace” implies they brought you comfort, safety, or even a kind of spiritual intimacy. That’s borderline romantic in tone.
By mocking it back at Loki, Gerd highlights how emotionally charged Mosa’s parting words were, to the point that even an outsider picked up on it and felt compelled to comment!
He warns her “Don’t tell anyone!!”, and in fiction, that often means “this is special, just between us,” which is romantic-coding even if not stated outright.
Overall this whole setup (bond → confession of importance → forced separation) is textbook for romance flag pacing.
So while it’s still subtextual (One Piece-style), it’s definitely a wink toward romantic tension, and it invites the audience to read deeper into their bond.
♡♡♡♡
If It’s True… What’s Their Relationship Dynamic?
Just some Textual Analysis, Trope Dissection, And Unapologetic Fangirl Psychoanalysis :p
Jarul’s "Impossible Crush" as Foreshadowing for Shirahoshi’s Type?
Oda mirroring character quirks for thematic payoff? More possible than you think!
Jarul’s gag about liking "older women" (despite being the oldest man alive) could be a setup for another gag that is Shirahoshi’s type being taller men (despite being the tallest non giant character), especially when you remember no one's taller than her on Fishman Island except for her father.
Jarul’s Paradox: He’s the oldest man, yet his type is someone even older (a humorous impossibility).
This mirrors Shirahoshi’s potential "impossible" type being "Taller men" since she's 11.5m tall (only giants surpass her).
Loki (60m+) is the only person taller than her that she has a connection with.
We see Shirahoshi in the Fishman Island arc complimenting Luffy on his strength a lot.
Tumblr media
I think her type is just someone who's strong, and bigger than her. It was really that basic all along. lol. She basically wants a bodyguard.
She has her priorities right, she won't settle for a man less than 60m tall, leave her be.
I keep seeing people saying that's a huge difference, but that's literally the same size difference between Harald and Ida. Shirahoshi is one meter taller than Ida even. Lmao
Loki's Type:
1- It's possible that Loki is a case of “Tough guy who simps for unattractive women, and has no interest in attractive women at all” Trope.
Like: Jyabura ( who simps for “Gyatherine”)
In fact I think there's a big chance that if he sees Shirahoshi he wouldn't fall for her (at least not right away) knowing Oda he will probably make Shirahoshi fall first, like he tends to make princesses do.
And there is an another possibility which I pray with all my heart Oda is going for, which is:
2- Was Loki’s “Love at First Sight” with Lola Actually Just… Kindness Starvation?
Maybe the first time someone treats him like a person, he misinterprets the emotional reaction as romantic love (that would be very teenage girl coded of him).
That’s not “simping” that’s emotional starvation.
“She was kind to me… and that must mean I love her. Right?”
I can see Oda writing this kind of comedic yet deeply tragic misunderstanding. lol
Loki falling for Lola Not because he finds her beautiful, but because she’s: Assertive, honest, Not afraid of him.
So if Loki’s “type” is “unexpectedly soft women who bulldoze his ego with unfiltered affection,” then… Shirahoshi might have a chance.
IF Oda does make Shirahoshi weirdly initiative once she decides Loki is her type
It would be funny if she decides he's her type the moment she sees his eyes lmao the unexpected freak would definitely be a bonus for her character.
I can totally see Oda making Shirahoshi the initiative one. Since he occasionally loves to subvert gender and power dynamics.
Picture this:
Loki turns around.
Shirahoshi blurts out: “You're exactly my type…!!”
And Loki?? PANICS.
60 meters of panicking muscle god, blushing, voice cracking: “Hah!? Don’t say weird stuff, Shaggy!! I’ll kill you!!! B-Baka”
The idea of giant 60 meters loki acting tsundere and flustered by this smaller 11 meters supposedly shy princess is very funny. Like.... one would expect the sheltered princess to be the shy one, but the strongest Elbaf warrior and the heir to the throne of warland???? It's very moe
Him getting flustered by Shirahoshi of all people, just makes him even more pathetic in my eyes lol
I never expected to obsess over a het ship where the man is this badboy outlaw type and the woman is this meek shy sheltered type. It's very basic and boring. But.... Loki being a secret softie and a tsundere changes everything.
That means they both have maiden hearts.
They might as well be yuri!!
Especially since their bond seems to be more emotional than physical.
Communication through den den mushi = emotional intimacy over physicality.
Shout out to all the Shirahoshi × Pudding people out there which I recently discovered is a thing, you guys know what’s up.
if Oda goes about Lokihoshi this way then it has very strong potential to be among my favorite dynamics in one piece.
♡♡♡♡
So, where does that leave us?
To be honest, the Loki = Uranus angle is still the weakest part of this post. But I’ve written about it extensively here because the idea fascinates me, and if it’s true, it would make the Shirahoshi connection even more powerful.
This post might age beautifully or terribly.... but I had fun and that's what matters. XD

I personally really love the sir crocodile trans fan theory. (This one also holds some water)
My personal dumb theory is that Emmitt the Giant robot was actually once a tentarra (mostly cause it would be funny for someone that small to end up that big, plus based on bad future Franky one can slowly become a robot, and the tentarra are seen to be really skilled labourers)
Luffy can't read (I can't think of a single time he did, like road signs or anything)
Brook didn't start using his yohoho laugh until after his crew died (like he doesn't use it in the laboon flashback, but this one could be proven wrong soon)
Whats the "dumbest" theory you think could become canon
Saw this ask the second you sent it, anon, and I've been thinking about it for SO LONG but I don't think I can give you a proper answer (sorry!!) because I'm really not that into theories???
So!! Use this post to tell ME some of the dumbest theories you've heard? I am actually, genuinely curious about it !!

If you unironically claim that the new Superman movie is "anti-Israel", I'm not taking anything you say seriously.
Tumblr media
Tom King, a former CIA agent, is heavily involved with the DCU. Not to mention, James Gunn is literally glazing the shit out of him every chance he gets!
For all it's worth, it's best to just boycott the movie entirely, as it's has Tom King's war-torn blood all over it.

Ok but this has always bugged me cause like this is such a specific choice, until I thought about why, the ocama as a whole are at the core rebels, often just by being themselves. And that being Rosi cover is actually super interesting, cause to me this might mean he at the least knew of Dragon and the RA (even if it was just garp complaining to Son)
So I think it would be doubly funny to me if he was also a spy for the RA on-top of being one of the marines as it also gives his claim to law about "not being a marine" more weight. And the inherent comedy of him being a 3 way spy and being in every single major faction in the OP world (including the world nobles)
Here me out.
Iva. Cora and Bon Clay having those little triangle style eye makeup/lashes?
Conclusion:
Tumblr media
The universal mark of the trans/crossdressing/gay community!?
This was all in good fun
And just something I noticed
BUT
I'll scream it until im in my grave that Rosi was into drag!

My ideal heavy point chopper is unironically bad CGI, cause he is meant to be an uncanny looking freak that you want to shoot on sight.
But I would adore brain point chopper being more Muppet-like, as I can imagine a comedic scene with just Muppets hooves running along the bottom of the screen while everyone else is at chest height or just seeing the top of his hat skimming along.

If I had to take a guess since brook is based on an Austrian, it could be a hint or a reference to the 1500's (roughly when one piece is based off) where children were taught (as it is one of the oldest public schooling systems in the world) by the crunch but most importantly they were taught music (mostly piano and violin) so it could mean that is when Brook learned his craft

I personally think it could be a reference to the og donquixote story in a way cause that story was more or less about a man realising the outside world is not a fantasy (he wanted to be a romantic knight) but only found pain and suffering (he got beaten up a lot and had a clumsy horse)
So it could be that the donquixote's have actually interacted or engaged with the outside world. Which does have interesting implications for Homeing (cause it's clear he had some romanticism about the wider world but I have no idea where it came from)
I just (re)met Donquixote Mjosgard and I wonder if we’ll ever find out what makes the Donquixotes different from other celestial dragons, like they seem to have more humanity than say Charlos’s family.
They must have something in their family tree that diverts from the others, like Homing deciding to leave Marie joie. Hmm
