Now that the preliminaries are over and this won't be showing any bias, I just want to say that I've began reading Vixen NYC after seeing how cute that iteration's Karen was and I've been enjoying it so far! I'm not usually a big superhero fan, but I have tended towards DC in the past, so I have seen a little bit of Karen's things in other series. I'd generally say she's one of my higher placed DC heroes? I really like how snarky Vixen NYC's Karen can be, she's got the kind of bite I love from an SGG!

Finally started working on the bracket, but realized that there's quite a few characters from the DC extended universe! Due to the nature of this fandom, I feel as though it'd be fair to fudge the numbers a bit for the fandom cap, so I'll be allowing four participants from DC into the bracket! Even with the increased cap, there's still a couple excess girls! While I could take the easy out and axe the girls who didn't have any sort of iteration specified, I feel as though that'd be rather unfair, so! It's preliminary time!

I condensed Harlivy into a pair due to the number of submissions I received for them, both individually and as a couple! Though there wasn't ever a consensus on which continuity to take them from. Since I would like to focus on a singular iteration of an SGG, I'd like to request those more familiar with these characters to suggest an iteration to take Batgirl, Bumblebee, Steel, and Harlivy from in the replies or in my askbox!

no real people! this includes mcyt and vtubers.

no sunglasses! im so sorry dave strider johnny bravo. maybe I will do a sunglasses poll eventually. and also perhaps goggles. but for the time being they are not allowed.

makoto yuuki is banned. if you would like to know why. its because he's my favourite megane and i would be very sad if he lost i hope u can understand. he is our mascot and i think that means he is the ultimate megane actually. (other enstars are totally cool though.)

the character does not have to always wear glasses, but it can't be a one-off thing.

no h*rry p*tter. or s*uth p*rk (i don't know if there are glasses characters there but im saying this just in case).

i will be trying to cap participants per fandom at 2 or 3 per fandom, depending on how submissions go!

bracket/other information:

brackets will be weekly! there may be some time between polls (new ones won't be immediately after the polls end). unfortunately i have life and responsibilities outside of being glasses character fan number one. this fact is disappointing to me as well.

Would once again like to apologize for the delay! Life has been really hectic for the past couple of days, but I'm trying my damnedest to get this out for y'all! Once four SGGs have been chosen from the DC preliminary and Marvel preliminary I'll be trying to get the bracket up by the 28th! Currently the plan is for the first half of polls for Round 1 to go up on August 1st, so take that time to prepare all the propaganda and voters you can!

Hey so unfortunately I was having a bit of a Real Life moment the past couple days so I haven't really been able to work on poll things, I deeply apologize! I don't know if I'll be able to work on poll things tomorrow since I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up having to take care of some stuff all day, but I'll try my best to get the bracket announced by the 25th! I've looked through all the submissions and I believe I won't actually need to do any preliminaries, so I should hopefully be able to post the bracket without worrying about any of that! Just in case I'm mistaken and preliminaries do have to be held, the bracket will be postponed until the 26th so preliminaries can be held on the 25th!

So uh while the site explodes due to Tumblr desperately trying to draw in more people that fled to Twitter once the porn ban happened, I'd like to remind everyone that the deadline for Science Genius Girl submissions has been adjusted to tomorrow due to the influx of submissions! If you'd like to see your SGG compete, please submit them to this form by midnight CST tomorrow night!

Also, since I've had a couple people confused about this, SGGs are solely meant to be submitted through the form! Thankfully, all the SGGs that have been sent in as asks instead have been submitted by someone else in the form itself, but please don't send submissions into my askbox! It'd make my life a whole lot easier for all the SGGs to be i the same place, plus there's some extra things I'd like to know that are only mentioned in the form itself.

Yes it is! I have barely played FFXIV myself due to struggling with big sprawling MMOs like that, but the way Athena was described instantly made me think of a Limbus Company character that gets introduced around the end of the first chapter in the story.
