Talking about America as a nation is an interesting challenge, and there are times I try to sidestep it. This year I think I managed to find a way to talk about politics, the nation, and the place disagreeing with one another has in it, and all without feeling like I've said anything stupid enough to tick people off. Let me know what you think after reading, and be sure to share if you like it.

Moving is hard. I'm going to tell you why.

Usually I don't do two posts a week, but this week is special. Specifically, today is an occasion sixty years in the making. I was originally going to send a letter, but then I remembered there was a way I could save on postage and also give a very special couple a little more attention.

Every summer I try to put out a list of book suggestions. This year feels a little sparse, but I still think I found a good read or two along the way.

It's like how feral boars and other animals that end up in unique habitats for their species end up either suffering or developing weird new ways to become even scarier within a generation or two of arriving. Like those hippos in Columbia. Nature solves problems, and sometimes the solutions are downright rad.

I can’t stop thinking about crocodiles for some reason so here’s some cool pictures I found of probably the second largest one in captivity, his name is Utan:

An idea I've had in my head since seeing the bomb SS86 Springer comes with.

Jurassic/Predator fan theory

You know how the whole point of the aliens in the Predator franchise are that they look for the hardest thing to hunt using melee weapons and explosives? What if they exist in the setting of Jurassic Park/ Jurassic World? The theme park thing's just a front so they can keep breeding species that provide a better challenge than humans so humanity isn't in the crosshairs as often. We've got:

A camouflaging mega-carnivore that can use smaller raptors as hunting dogs, hide from heat sensors, and think strategically

A smaller, more dextrous version of same that can fit inside buildings

A massive marine reptile

fleshy territorial fighter jets

A smaller asexually reproducing psychopath species with venomous quills that can survive being flash frozen

Don't even get me started on the D. Rex and the Mutadons.

It's a very important day, and I don't have the words to describe the thing that makes it so special. I'm still going to make an effort, but I doubt I'll get close.

This is a big season for parties, and to warm me up to a more exciting topic next week I'm taking a stab at graduation celebrations. Journey with me into the suburban garage that every grad party seems to call home, and laugh along as I poke at the stereotypes (except for sheet cake - that stuff's perfect)

Memorial Day is on Monday, and I've done my best to express why I feel it's important to remember the cost of war whether we win or lose.

Jurassic World: Rebirth Theory

You know those Mutadon things?

I have a theory that before they used frog DNA, the scientists used other fossil DNA. How would they know what DNA belongs with what since they just had fragments? Plus, once it's alive, are you going to be the jerk who kills a cloned dinosaur?

Every family is different, and there's a thing that makes my family unique that I've been asked about in the past. For the first time, I'm going to share some of my feelings and thoughts about my brothers.

I need all of you to understand that I fully recognize how weird it is that I want a fully illustrated guide to the version of Jumanji that they made in the reboot films. It'd be a super niche product, but can you imagine how cool a worldbuilding project it'd be? Fake cultures, all those weird animals they had chasing everybody, all the architecture. You could really do some wild lore for things like the albino rhinos or those ostrich-looking birds.

Mother's Day is near, and I just want to remind everyone how great my mom is.

Procrastinating Writer's Writing Prompt

The fae are known to all worlds, but no one knows where they really come from. That is, until the little pixie at the corner of the square gets a little bigger when someone thanks them for lighting a small fire for them. The fae are in a sense the larval form of gods, swarming together for defense. They are also the form to which many gods who are either forgotten or were worshipped in alternate timelines that time travel has erased return.
