ive got terrible news! the gun curt uses only has 6 in the clip, which means its almost certainly not a standard issue semi-automatic and is probably a revolver!

So I’m trying to make some personal memos on the DMA’s outfit/weapons (for fic writing purposes), but I just…

Most of this is pretty valid, right? My current list is:

Holster looped around both shoulders and joining behind the neck. It’s got a gun under the left arm and a pouch (possibly containing extra clips etc) under the right.

Machete on the left hip.

Slightly curved dagger on the right hip.

Strap around the right leg, with a mid-sized knife (probably some kind of hunting knife?) in a sheath on the outer thigh.

Pliers in the right trouser pocket (though those were probably prepared specifically for the torture session).

But… WHAT IS THE STRAP LOOPING AROUND HIS TORSO???

I HAVE LOOKED AT THIS FROM MULTIPLE ANGLES, BUT I HONESTLY CAN’T SEE ANYTHING ATTACHED TO IT??? IS IT JUST FOR THE AESTHETIC??? DOES HE JUST THINK IT MAKES HIM LOOK MORE THREATENING??? DOES HE JUST KEEP IT THERE IN CASE HE WANTS TO ATTACH GRENADES OR SOMETHING TO IT???

Still researching Cold War espionage for my SAF fic. Today, I found out that some undercover agents made invisible ink using their own blood.

That’s so weird and so metal, and I can’t even put it in my fic, because how do you casually drop that information into a work of fiction? No One Would Believe That It Works.

I’m considering writing an SAF fic, so I’m researching 1950s espionage at 2 in the morning, as you do. And it’s like... guys. The musical was right.

Everything that could conceivably hide a gun, usually hid a fucking gun.

Umbrellas. Canes. Shoes. Fucking lipstick.

My favorite example so far is the Sedgley OSS .38, AKA the Glove Gun. It’s a single shot pistol attached to the back of a work glove, and you’re supposed to hide the Gun Bit under your sleeve, but.... dude. That’s A Gun. Riveted To A Glove. You’re not fooling anyone.

Also, you fire it by punching your target. Which is just.. Wild. My god.

I’m so glad I started researching for this dumb fic based off of a comedy musical, because I couldn’t make this shit up.
