"I moved to Scotland from New York when I was 17, right out of High school. It was an adventure, but I don't know if I was quite ready for it at the time. But now, it's given me a whole new perspective, on different cultures and a new way to think about the world. It's a living experience I can put towards being a diplomat, I moved here to study international politics" One piece of advice I would give is "Work hard and be nice to people" #saltoftheearth #photojournalism #destroyingstereotypes #daily #humangeography meets #socialanthropology #Edinburgh #Scotland #UK #NY

"I grew up in the Blue mountains, seeing things in their natural habitat, so I got into Science, because I wanted to learn more about how the natural world works." "The quality of life here is just insane, everyone's got heaps more than they need. It seems to be very materialistic, so materialistic. People need to cut back on that sort of thing I think." "India has to be my favourite place, that I've traveled to. The people, the food the culture. I admired how they interacted with each other, they dress so vibrantly too and there's always music playing" #saltoftheearth #saltoftheearth513 #photojournalism #destroyingstereotypes #daily #humangeography meets #culturalanthropology #melbourne #australia #CBD #Cairns #Bluemountains

If you could give one piece of advice to a big group of people what would it be? "Stay true to yourself-We're all Blessed to be here, make the most of it, strive to the end" "There was a moment in my life, where I started to perceive things differently...I haven't seen my daughter, who's now 26 years old since she was 6 years old. I had an arranged marriage when I was quite young, when we split up, I lost custody of my kids. It's a terrible thing to break a bond. I've managed to reconnect with my son, but not my daughter. if I could say one thing to her, it would be that I Love her. That I love her [he repeats, through tears streaming down his face]". #saltoftheearth #photojournalism #destroyingstereotypes #daily #sharedhumanity #love #grace #culturalanthropology meets #humangeography #wellington #NZ #melbourne #Victoria #Australia

"The biggest issue facing humanity? I don't think we love each other enough. It's become more about a personal experience rather than the experience you're giving everybody else, nowadays it's become about getting things and thinking what's in it for me [which is sad]" "My dream is to make music, everyday. I still haven't found what type I'd like to make but music that makes you feel something. Music that brings people together, that's the important thing." #saltoftheearth #saltofmelbourne #humangeography meets #culturalanthropology #photojournalism #destroyingstereotypes #daily #melbourne #CBD #tas

"I think I'd go back to a time were people still lived in communities, everyone helping each other and sharing, I'd go back and keep it that way, people can get really lost and lonely In cities" #saltoftheearth #saltofmelbourne #culturalanthropology meets #humangeography #destroyingstereotypes #daily #CBD #melbourne #australia

'A few years ago, I experienced quite a bit with my health and nutrition. I got a bit sick. It’s inspired me to study nutrition, and help others who are going through what I went through. A big thing I learned was that I need to help myself before I can help others. There are always people who can help you. I never really talked to my mum, which I regret. Even if she didn’t know what to say, I could’ve talked to her... I’m still learning.' #saltoftheearth #saltofmelbourne #humansofmelbourne #photojournalism #humangeography meets #culturalanthropology #melbourne #australia #destroyingstereotypes #daily • Melbourne City, VIC

'If money wasn’t a factor what would you be doing?’ 'Oh that’s easy. I’d be in Papua New Guinea. A huge reminder I got from being there was that they have so few of the distractions that we have in our society; without these distractions like computers, social networking, worrying what people think, they just seemed to be so much more in touch with humanity. Family ties are really strong; children express themselves emotionally so much better. We can criticise them in so many ways in regards to what we list as developmental indicators. In so many ways, they’re so much more developed than us, but they’re also deprived at the same time. I’ve learnt to try not to be so cluttered in my mind. The clutter of modern society inhibits you from enjoying yourself and participating in the community around you I guess. Don’t put that in there, it's a bit corny.' #saltoftheearth #saltofmelbourne #humansofmelbourne #saltoftheearth513 #photojournalism #humangeography meets #culturalanthropology #melbourne #australia #destroyingstereotypes #daily • Melbourne City, VIC

I was by myself a lot when I was growing up. I was about 13 years old when I was staying with a step family. I didn’t know them that well so it didn’t work out. Before that, I don’t really remember much... I suppose everyone's got a mum and dad haven't they? I’ve never actually met my parents. #saltoftheearth #saltofmelbourne #saltoftheearth513 #photojournalism #humangeography meets #culturalanthropology #melbourne #australia #destroyingstereotypes #daily #family • Melbourne City, VIC

I see lots of people with dogs… I see myself getting a dog one day. They’re cute; they’re good company for lonely people and they’re happy. They’re better than some people, that’s for sure. #saltoftheearth #saltofmelbourne #saltoftheearth513 #photojournalism #humangeography meets #culturalanthropology #melbourne #australia #destroyingstereotypes #daily #dogs #simplicity • Melbourne City, VIC

My grandad passed away when I was little. He was so old but was always just the happiest, bubbliest person. Every Sunday I went to see him and he always had a Pepsi max. It sounds so weird, I know, but he just always had one. *with a laugh I kind of wish he was still here so I could talk to him about things. #saltoftheearth #saltofmelbourne #saltoftheearth513 #photojournalism #humangeography meets #culturalanthropology #melbourne #australia #sentimentalism # #destroyingstereotypes #daily • Melbourne City, VIC

'I was working at night once in Sydney and these guys decided to approach me with weapons once… it was a bit scary. Violence can happen everywhere, we’re just fortunate Australia isn’t war-torn.' Who is your greatest influence? 'My grandmother. She was so strong-willed, determined and defiant. Despite being so unwell in her final years, she really pushed through that.' #saltoftheearth #saltofmelbourne #saltoftheearth513 #photojournalism #humangeography meets #culturalanthropology #melbourne #australia #destroyingstereotypes #daily • Melbourne City, VIC

'I’d like people to remember me by my humour' You have a great sense of humour? 'Well, no [with a laugh]. Maybe my voice. I like to always say hello to people with a smile. Anything can come with a smile. David Bowie has taught me to follow my dreams. If being radical is in your nature just do it.' #saltoftheearth #saltofmelbourne #saltoftheearth513 #photojournalism #humangeography meets #culturalanthropology #melbourne #australia #destroyingstereotypes #daily • Melbourne City, VIC
