You don't have to like weed but I find people who are vehemently anti-weed but claim to be left leaning infuriating. If you go into a rage because you smelled someone smoking pot, how the fuck do you expect to form community with people addicted to meth? It's easier to say you hate smokers than to say you hate all drug users in leftist spaces because one makes you sound a bit like a square while the other is the writing on the wall. You aren't anti-weed, you're anti-drug user and anyone who uses substances is not safe around you.

i don't think anyone ever goes quite hard enough with exactly how bad gerry's hair must truly look. usually i see him depicted with long grown-out blonde roots but honestly blonde roots with black hair is a popular style.

the fact is that every time gerry's mentioned in a statement, the witness identifies him by how bad his dye-job is. people walk around every day with fuckass dye jobs. i myself have.

realistically how often do you look at someone in public and find their grown-out roots or fried, over-bleached ends so offensive as to be their most notable feature?

this dye job has to be catastrophic. i'm imagining completely uneven color, where the dye took better in some spots than others. spots fading faster than others into brown patches. ends fried to hell. like from his shoulder to his chin the hair is transparent.

people are experiencing mind-bending, life-and-death situations with a stranger that alter their entire perceptions of reality as they know it, and his shit hair strikes them as an important detail.

as much as i enjoy a lot of the disco elysium fics out there, one thing i (and apparently a bunch others) noticed as a running trend is a lot of people get a lot of the socialist aspects of DE very wrong, especially when it comes to district 41 and harry's character.

i specifically dislike how many portrayals of district 41 is too... cop-ish. which, fair- much of the structure of the rcm is meant to mimic the actual police and comment on how being policemen can damage the humanity of a single person. we genuinely cannot ignore the aspects of police brutality present in DE.

but at the same time, did everyone just FORGET the lore-building focused on how some parts of the rcm come from descendants of revolutionaries? specifically in district 41, the conversation we see with captain pryce points to him checking if some members of district 41 are ready for another revolution? he, without a doubt, confirmed it for the characters we know, which speaks volumes on what torson, chester, jean, judit, and harry are like. we don't see this side of them often because they're busy tormenting harry (and i don't mean to say they're good cops either btw they're shit) but i do think there's more to them than what we've seen.

i WISH people could explore this more, especially for harry! the way he finds hope in the world despite everything. how it was important for him to escape that moralist mindset and become more compassionate for others, especially in the socialist routes. i want people to explore what it means for kim to enter this kind of arena as well, since he's more reluctant about these things (altho was still radicalized by harry) and yet he's entering a district with a revolutionary descendant.

idk! i need to replay DE for me to delve in deeper w the district but it still shocks me that the socialist parts of DE are forgotten or not looked into in DE fics that focus solely on the cop side of things... anyway if you have socialist/political de fics to recommend pls give them to me thanks
