The world changes, and with it so do tastes and preferences. But if who you are is honest and true, and what you do is sincere and right, don't change for the world, change the world for the better...or die trying
Bands
I used to invest in them, my time, my heart, my love. Times change and here we are in the middle of it all. Bands are a thing of the past. There are a few. Some are really big and still make a big impression but for the most part bands are yesterday. I’m in one so this is a tough reality. My band is black and blue and red all over. My band has had its ass handed to us more than once but we work through it. We get up and get back on the bike. Bands aren’t supposed to quit. They’re supposed to figure out how to get it together again and make shit right again. When are MY bands going to stand up for what I/we believe in and kick some ass again? Well, never. That’s the real answer. Competition is fierce and kids have moved on…way on.
No bother. My band will play the fool and pretend that music hasn’t “moved on”. I will act as if I can contribute and without me the world is a lesser world. Is it true? Who cares! Truth is not anything but science and science is NOT music no matter how hard it tries. Rock Stars are not at Microsoft and Apple. They are on stage making you/me think shit we never thought before. Music is for the soul.
So I’m going to do it. I’m going to go after it like I’ve always done. I’ll be that band I want in my life. I’ll be the fighter of the fight. Yeah some will laugh. Some will hate. But I will smile through it all, knowing that I have to represent the band that I need so bad right now.
💙 Pat

Have you ever heard of satire?
https://soundcloud.com/ryantroughtoneffect/smiling-faces
Last week I met with the VP of Creative at Sony/ATV and this became a topic of conversation. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to preview RTEffect's material and gained valuable feedback on what we we're doing right, and what we could build on.
But when I played him our track "Smiling Faces" I was met with some strange opposition. He immediately said without hearing a note
"What is smiling faces suppose to mean to me? People want to relate with a song, thats what allows them to connect. I don't want to hear about smiling faces."
I replied "Well...this song is actually a satire and eludes to the fact that not every smile is what it seems to be. They range in sincerity and authenticity, and this song brings light to that fact in a unique way."
We listened to the track and I saw the lightbulb click. He heard what I was saying, and that was a nice victory. I didn't walk out of the meeting with a publishing deal, but I was one step closer to bringing rock and roll to the mainstream. I can't do this alone, its not possible. If you care about musicians, culture, people and spirit then these songs are for you.
Sincerely,
Ryan Troughton

We may have old souls, but our sound is brand new. There is no doubt it is rock & roll, but it is as fresh as it is relevant. The perspective of our song is novel, and it hits at the core. Y'all might think it is a grand illusion, but rock & roll is experiencing a renaissance. When and where you ask? Right here, right now I say.
