james hurley is lowkey so funny bc in principle his character was such a soft ball. like. he's a kid who had to raise himself. he was betrayed by the one person who was supposed to never betray him. he's quiet and thoughtful and he looks at people with wariness but also with this intense feeling of desperation and a hope beyond hope. he wants so badly to be loved and he can't believe he could be that lucky whenever anyone shows him the barest measure of kindness. sure there's nuance to acting out that kind of role but from the writer's perspective he should've been so easy to root for. boggles the mind how you could fuck that up
