Bark Skin (the first custom cocktail and yes. It’s bad.)

So this one is more of a story than an actual cocktail but it does have a recipe, I’m going to warn you it literally tastes like wood. So this drink is dedicated to a friend who left for the military a while ago and if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have actually had the premise of a dungeons and dragons themed drink. This one is pretty simple since it’s actually two ingredients and it was made when him and I were novices in making cocktails and were also drunk off our asses. I debated calling this one “The Gordon” because it was his concoction but he preferred I call it “Bark Skin”.

What you need:

12- 16 oz of ale

1-1.3 oz of gin

This one is a bomb style show and not a cocktail, but I said my return would have a remedial beginning. I’m just glad to be back. Honestly if it weren’t for my loving boyfriend I wouldn’t have been able to come back to this. This isn’t going to taste well, but I figured that if I didn’t pay homage to the first drink no matter how bad it is i would never be able to move forward with my new drinks. I’m back

Hey all! I know it’s been a bit of a hiatus but I’m back, I realized the I can’t just do nothing when I hit a patch with depression as much as I want to just do nothing. Tomorrow I will be posting a new recipe, granted they won’t be coming out at the frequency the used to I’m going to try to get them out to you at least weekly.

I’m gonna level with you. I’ve been dealing with some. Depression. The thing is, I started feeling much better when I started but the past couple of days I’ve been just. Out of it. Yeah, I teach at a gaming and bartending school that I graduated from a while back. It was a childhood dream (teaching) so when the offer was made I jumped on it. It’s about 600 dollars. Not the price I would’ve put up, since I personally would enjoy just teaching my craft to anyone free of charge, since it’s so just so cool.

Eldritch Blast

We are back from GP Vegas, and while I was laying in bed feeling like crap I looked to my right and saw my compendium. It kinda dawned on me that most of the drinks I have posted on here haven’t actually been from what I’ve written. They’ve just been, well, bursts of inspiration. So, I wanted to do one that I have had written for a bit over a couple of months already. I feel as though I’ve improved as a mixologist by doing this, so I don’t know how this one is going to hold up. Without further adue, here’s Eldritch Blast.

Eldritch Blast

Highball

1.5 oz light rum

.75 oz blackberry liqueur

.25 oz simple syrup

Fill cranberry juice and roll.

GP Day 4

So if anyone follows me on Twitter you’d know that collectively these past 4 days I’ve gotten maybe 11 hours of sleep and I’ve taken myself off of my sleeping medication. So it’s been really rough. To the point that I’d get in the car and immediately want to vomit and my stomach being upset to the point where I couldn’t eat. So I was dropped off at a friends shortly after arriving to GP. I ended up in and out of consciousness sitting in on d&d and being force fed a small amount of rice. Hopefully I can get a good amount of sleep tonight and rebound.

GP Day 3

HOLY CRAP TODAY WAS AH-MAY-ZING! I got to meet @markrosewater and @gavinverhey and even got my Crow Storm signed. This was hands down the coolest moment of my GP experience. The content creators panel was really good, it kinda lit a fire under my butt for posting more cocktails. I got to see a bunch of good friends and even got to have a conversation with Serge from Loading Ready Run who is a frigging cinnamon roll. Overall ya girl is just. On cloud 9 over this GP Experience And can’t wait for tomorrow.

For one wanting to do mixes or start a personal bar, what are some good ‘Starter Kit’ drinks to buy first?

So, that’s an interesting question. That depends on your personal tastes! I’ll always advocate for have one of each of these. A vodka, Gin, Rum, Tequila, whiskey, and Cachaca. Having things like Grenadine, simple syrup, triple sec, sour mix, and various juices are also super encouraged! Once you’re done with a starting home bar and want to expand your palate I’d recommend getting into whiskey. There’s a large distinction between whiskeys from around the globe! Gin gin!
