A new viewpoint on antlers reveals the evolutionary history of deer (Cervidae, Mammalia)

something i've wanted to do for a while now. i've scoured the internet for something like this and can't find anything that compares all the different types of antlers together. except one recent study on their evolution, which is also very interesting on its own! i simplified it to provide a visual reference, while still trying to be scientifically accurate. some things differ between this and trophy scoring terminology like where the beam is and whatnot, so if something looks weird that's why.

small additional note, this study and others provide a lot of evidence that eld's deer should be in their own genus as it doesn't appear similar enough to barasingha and schomburgk's deer. however this doesn't seem to be adapted anywhere yet, so they're still in Rucervus for this guide.

So I’m wondering, when did you come up with the concept/characters for IDWTBAMG and when did you start working on it?

Doodled Aika and Hoshi as a shits and giggles for fun thing and posted this (August 6th)

Didn't draw the characters for a whole month then designed Zira (Sept 3rd)

Designed and finalized the characters and villains shortly after that and also came up with their bios (Sept 9th-12th)

Wrote the pilot script and thumbnailed a chunk of it in a day (Sept 11)

Had roughly a quarter of the board done pretty quickly (Sept 17)

First pass of the board was pretty much done by October and I casted most of the VAs by mid October. Recorded all of them the first week of November and now we have an animatic going! So that's where I am currently~ Mostly doing tweaks, acting passes, getting pickups and putting in SFX. Once we have the animatic locked, gonna do a music pass and that'll be pretty much it!

The pilot's gonna be about 9:30min (not including the ED song)!
