Friendly reminder that LGBTQ+, Queer, and LGBT+ are the preferred terms for the community (x).
Friendly reminder that Queer is approved by 72.9% of the people, and the groups who don’t prefer it’s use as an umbrella term are straight people, exclusionists, transmeds, truscums, sex-negative people, and sex work critical people (x).
Friendly reminder that aros and aces are excluded only 9.2% / 8.1% of the time respectively while being included  78.9% / 81.2% of the time (x)
Friendly reminder that exclusionists are in the minority and aro/ace people are included in the LGBTQ+ community by the people within the community.

As someone who's spent half her life in the Gaming and Entertainment industries, let me tell you how FUCKED everything is.
For context, I'm a 34 year old trans woman who spent the last SEVENTEEN YEARS of my life in these industries. So half my life has been in this.
I'm currently 9 months out of work after being laid off from a huge well known company due to them "selling off half the company's outside studios so the core company could invest in NFTs and Blockchain."
Unemployment has fully run out for me at this point and I'm struggling.
This is not new. I'm not the only one. And what's more is that it's been happening to gaming and entertainment studios for years and it continues to get worse.
Day after day, week after week, month after month I've seen studios both big and small laying off workers and then announcing "AI! NFTS! BLOCKCHAIN!" shit constantly.
These companies have posted record profits and then have used those profits to... cut their staff and pay their execs more.
All the while they pretend to still be "FOR THE FANS" and as more of the workers unionize and try to band together shun those workers saying "HOW COULD YOU!? THE FANS WANT THEIR CONTENT!" as if the content is worth people's lives and livelihood.
The biggest thing we, as workers, are fighting for is FAIR PAY and to not have our works or voices used for AI!
And these studios keep saying NO, and then making it impossible for us to work or live.
The studio heads have purposely stonewalled talks and contact deals because they KNOW we are all underpaid and want to WAIT US OUT until we are SO POOR we HAVE to make a deal.
So if you continue to see my post (and posts from others like me) saying "Hey, I'm still out for work, if you have some spare money I'd really appreciate it" - please consider helping us out.
We want to get back to work and they won't let us without us selling away our souls.

does anyone know if i can like block sites from appearing in my google images searches??? i keep getting those awful ai generated things with a hand coming out of a man's neck and just straight up not what i was looking for, because this was in a search for "curly hair in medieval paintings". it happens every time i search for anything vaguely art-reference-like and it's so fucking annoying and it clutters my search results so much. i don't wanna add specific commands to the query every time too, what i need is like a browser extension or something

Hiii, was just looking at my bookmarks and i realised that nesting dragons was in private, and well, it was one of my fav fics so i'm sad ajdjsjsssjss. I understand that you have done it for one reason or another, so I don't want to make you feel bad or uncomfortable about of of this. My question is if the fact that you sent it to priv means that it is discontinued or if there is a possibility that it will return in the future? Again, I don't want bother you with this. I was just curious. so forgive me if i upset you🙏
Hi! No no thanks for asking, otherwise I don't really have a place to explain. Hmmm my complicated feelings on JKR and her transphobia (and influence that allows her to fund it) increases every day.
My first step a year ago was to put a blanket restriction on all art podfic etc for my HP works, even for myself. I didn't want them advertised anymore in any way so that only people who actively look for HP work on AO3 see it.
However, as mentioned above, my discomfort increased. I'm quite sad because I loved writing the fic and had big plot points I was excited to share. Plus it was my most popular fic!! Still can't believe I got so many kudos.
Anyway this is a long-winded way to answer your question. The answer is maybe? To both?
Right now, I'm thinking of (1) finishing at least Nesting Dragons (in the series) in private and unprivate it once it's fully finished. My other thought is to (2) put the really long summary of the rest of the series as a final chapter to Nesting Dragons.
That said, if the latter happens, that means I made the decision to abandon the work.

For those who believe Lestat killing eight wolves is “unrealistic,” I think you’ll find this video very informative.

a few reminders because i’m tired and angry
fandom is a hobby, not a form of activism
adult women aren’t inherently creepy for being in fandom and having hobbies apart from raising babies and doing taxes
the vast majority of people pushing back against the worrying trend of instigating harassment over fictional characters and relationships aren’t incest supporters or pedophiles, actually
liking a m/f ship doesn’t make someone a dirty heterosexual invading your space
preferring gay ships doesn’t make you ‘’woke’’ and good
no one owes you a disclaimer that they are a good person who recognizes that their favorite fictional villain’s actions are evil and that they don’t condone those actions irl
liking a fictional villain is in no way comparable to advocating abuse/murder/genocide/etc and you’re a fucking idiot if you believe that
just because a woman is attracted to a fictional villain doesn’t mean she’s promoting toxic relationships or going to end up in a toxic relationship. assuming women can’t tell fiction and reality apart stinks of internalized misogyny
some rando’s a/b/o fanfics have none of the level of influence that popular tv shows and movies spreading propaganda have
no one owes you a detailed description of their traumas and mental health problems
abusive relationships are not the same as enemies to lovers ships
y’all need to chill the fuck out over people, relationships, actions and events that don’t actually exist and learn how to enjoy and discuss them like normal people
fandom is a hobby, not a form of activism
feel free to add more

Man, remember when Free The Nipple was a thing and there was an actual substantial amount of feminists who believed even public nudity wasn't inherently sexual and now if you date a short person hundreds of anonymous idiots online will call you a pedophile.

idk how many folks are aware, but effective 2023 May 1, redbubble will begin charging artists a fee on monthly earnings: ranging from about 20% for those who sell enough to earn $500/month to about 50% for those who earn less than $20/month. For clarification, artists' earnings before this fee are already low, only around 20-30% of the sale price of each product.
I never minded the low profit margins before- it was worth it to me to give folks a place to buy my art on a wide variety of products without costing me anything upfront. But this new fee is gross and sure to hurt many small artists, so I will be closing my shop there very soon.
I am looking into alternatives, like inprnt for prints/stickers, because I would still like to offer folks a place to buy quality prints of my art if they so desire. In the meantime I am willing to put my recent works up on redbubble today or tomorrow in case anyone wants to make a purchase sometime this coming week. Please leave a comment on this post if there is anything in particular you would like me to add!
And know that I plan to remove everything as of May 1st.
