No one knows what might befall after darkness completely enveloped the last shaft of light. It is not the presence of fear which can crush our faith and hope. It is the pain in loneliness, the wounded flesh in our reverie, the broken hearts we thought that could not break.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could pause the time? So we could rest, reflect, and heal.

I am a student. There are times when I drift off our lectures to my fantasies of red roses and flattering butterflies on utopian plains where nature is at peace from frightening disaster of human filth. Then, get a hold of myself as a shutter of a camera put hiatus to daydreaming heeding an advice from a messianic sage.

I am a teacher. From where I am from, the celebration of Teacher’s Day is a big thing. Flowers, cakes, and surprises are given. It is a very special day not because teachers are being recognized and celebrated but, sadly, because it is just one of the few days wherein we are respected, valued, and loved genuinely by some of our learners. It is depressing that it is not everyday that they would help you carry your things, offer a seat, and greet you good morning.

Albeit all these, I am requesting all teachers in the whole world to continue instilling the right values among our learners. Otherwise, we would always long for a Teacher’s Day or any special day to be appreciated.
