Honestly, that scene between Maki and Yuta was really important for understanding her. It’s probably the first bit of solid character development she’s got so far, and I’m actually starting to like her, both conceptually and as a character.
She gives Yuta a big speech about “making assumptions about people, when you barely even know them.”, and then pushes herself on him, claiming she knows he’s “Not a virgin!”.
When Yuta gives her the look that says the absolute opposite, Maki’s reaction isn’t just her being embarrassed about the situation, but shocked at her own hypocrisy. She’s probably been victimising and/or demonising herself for so long she forgot she could ever hurt someone else.
Of course, there were other things in that scene; I just wanted to make a point of this, because it was probably overshadowed by Yamada’s hijinks. This might be worded incorrectly, but I think I got across the point I wanted to.
