The king requests the first dance of the evening.
Chapter 2 is here! Or, is it chapter 1, since the first was a prologue?? Not too sure. Go read it over on AO3 [or start with the preview under the cut] anyhow! It's very happy and nothing bad happens at all! Enjoy :)!
The young princess glided across the ballroom floor, dragged along by a very eager cousin of hers, Flageo.
He laughed endlessly, excitedly recalling everything he’d seen so far. Something or other about one of his sisters getting pastry cream all over her nose earlier, and how he bowed to the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, how he liked her pink dress and sense of humour. Boasting childishly about how he had been practicing his dancing for the night and just couldn’t wait to show it off to everyone, and won’t you please help me with that like you promised?
The entire ballroom, nay, perhaps the entire castle was abuzz with joyous celebration. Beanish or not, everyone had adopted their traditional tendency towards mirth. Queen Bean had already taken to talking up a group of guests and royals alike, a drink in one hand and decorated fan in the other. She had nearly spilled her sparkling something-or-other from its glass a few times as she told her anecdotes with excitement. Such boisterous laughter could be heard from anywhere in the ballroom, and the princess heard her before she saw her- just a glimpse as she walked through the room.
Quite the crowd it was that surrounded her, they cheered and drank to their bond with her encouragement.
“Have you seen? Hee-hee! They have a fountain of Chuckola Cola! A fountain!” He would exclaim, tugging her away from the line of sight of her mother.
“A fountain? Really? You have to show me! Ah hee hee!” The princess would respond, darting between guests as her cousin continued to pull her. She held her dress up with the hand that wasn’t being tugged, making sure she wouldn’t trip- how embarrassing that would be!
