I hope my portfolio website will be able to help me when I start looking for internships. I wanted it to showcase some of the things I’m good at when it comes to design, as well as journalism.
I wanted to make my logo something authentic and personal, so I thought I’d use a nice photo of myself. I chose a theme that was very professional-looking, and at the same, time straight-forward. The purpose was to let potential employers know that I’m serious and hard-working.

Editorial Experience
1. For this project, I used ESPN. I incorporated the style of the mobile app with some of the actual top stories posted on the mobile app.
2. For the design, I used a similar color scheme as the ESPN logo. I also used color schemes representative of the various team’s colors for the buttons that had the story’s headline.

SOCIAL MEDIA GRAPHIC
For my social graphic, I stuck with the theme of the information graphic and focused on Daniel Cormier. I decided since he has a fight coming up next month, that I advertise it in a way. I felt the need to highlight his status of being the #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC to make the fight seem more interesting, as his next fight is of much importance.
As for the design, I decided to put a picture of him with both belts because he’s the champion in both the Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight divisions. Additionally, his next fight will be a heavyweight title defense for DC.

I decided to do my infographic on UFC Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier. He’s one of my favorite UFC fighters, and I thought since he’s retiring next year, that I should make something that highlights his accomplishments throughout his career.
I wanted the main colors of the infographic to be red, white, and black to symbolize his training camp, American Kickboxing Academy. I also put the important facts in yellow to emphasize the stature of his accomplishments.

For this gif, I used a story posted on ESPN.com about the upcoming UFC fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. I also represented both fighters by displaying their country’s flag (Nurmagomedov being from Russia and McGregor being from Ireland). My idea was to have the images and text opt in and out to emphasize the magnitude of this fight, as well as grab people’s attention to make them want to see this fight. Based on the story published about the intense press conference for the fight, the goal was to match the overall intensity with this gif.

MOOD BOARD
For my Mood Board, I chose ESPN, the leading company in sports news. They cover all sports (professional, college, and even high school) across several channels, as well as producing their own magazine and being active on their website. Perhaps the most well known analysts from ESPN are Stephen A. Smith, Max Kellerman, Mike Greenberg, Mike Golic, and the late Stuart Scott.
As for the design of the mood board, my idea was to put the most popular sports and analysts from the station. The sports you see are basketball, football, baseball, golf, and soon-to-be on ESPN next year, the UFC. Also represented are Stephen A. Smith, who is well-known for his show “First Take,” and MMA Insider Ariel Helwani, who has a popular show titled “Ariel & The Bad Guy,” with retired UFC fighter Chael Sonnen. The layout for the board, similar to ESPN, is simple and straightforward.
