cw; lower case on purpose, hurt -> comfort, relationship, cursing, loosely based off 'playdate' by melanie martinez (support the art, not the artist, as they say. i do not condone any of the actions melanie martinez has done, and the fic being loosely inspired to this song does not show my support to her actions, but rather, how well-written the song is).

a/n; i need to revive this fandom cmon guys please give this likes the anime is SO PEAK. this is a sign that i will be writing more multifandom!! hard launch for my next event for having 100+ followers? (i've been plotting this for a while now)

"i don't give a fuck about you anyways, ryota!"

"oh please, [name], don't say that."

your eyes look into his, your expression teary. he could tell despite the rain pouring heavily and drenching you, ruining your makeup by making it trickle down your face. in his eyes, you were gorgeous despite the rain making you look a little unkempt than usual.

"i guess i'm just someone to toy with, huh? just because aomine dared you during our third year of junior high, you took up the offer and decided to date me," you mutter quietly, and he looks away, slightly ashamed. "i can't believe i fell for it. how can a guy like you love a girl like me anyway? i should've thought of that sooner. fuck, i was such an idiot."

"no, [name], don't say that-"

"you have no right to talk, ryota. you think you can just play around with me for a year and get away with it? this isn't fair, you know."

"i know. but, [name], listen to me-"

"no."

"i said listen to me," he says coldly, causing a shiver to go up your spine. the usually kind and silly ryota kise, the model and copycat of the generation of miracles, was never this serious with you other than moments when he made now-glib love confessions to reassure you. he sighs. he runs a hand through his damp hair, feeling the rain drop onto his fingers and his scalp, "i actually fell for you. it may have started off as a dare, but i promise you, i fell for you so hard. you don't understand how much of a hold you have on a guy like me-"

"you could be lying. you always told me you love me, how am i supposed to believe you after you pull out that card? that i was nothing to you? and during our first year anniversary too?"

"look, i know it's wrong of me to date you for a bet, but i asked aomine to quit the bet after we moved high schools," he sighs. you look down. when you guys went to kaijo together, huh. that was a few weeks after you guys had officially gotten together.

was he really that loyal, despite all odds?

ryota walks up to you, and you hesitate, adjusting your blue dress that you wore out to the fancy dinner you both went to earlier to celebrate. he takes off his blazer, and he gives it to you before hugging you tight, one hand on your head, the other on your waist.

"give me another chance, please," he mutters in your ear, his warm breath fanning out to your neck. he holds you a little tighter than before, almost protecting you from the rain droplets, "please. you mean more to me than you'll ever know. i just... i feel happier with you. my life is better with you in it."

"you might be lying-"

"for fuck's sake, [name], i'm not lying. i never lie when i say i love you. when i say it, you know i mean it. the heavens know it. the whole world knows i mean it," he whispers, and he carries you in his arms, letting your legs instinctually wrap around him, making you cringe internally, but he chuckles softly.

"leave me alone, ryota."

"i won't. i never will. what am i, a coward? sure, i was cowardly enough to ask you out for a date for a bet, but i'm not cowardly enough to back away from you after showering you with genuine love."

his words hit you deep. something in you, a feeling you never knew would arise, suddenly hit you like a tsunami, and your eyes start tearing up more, and you sob into his shoulder. you cry frantically, with no purpose, no explanation... and he just let you. as he always did. like the amazing boyfriend he was.

"i love you, [name]. i'm sorry for hurting your feelings. i'm sorry i made you feel this way," he says, and those words make you sob more violently, causing him to hold you more tighter than last time; an unimaginable tightness that kept you warm, safe, and sheltered in his arms, in his unconditional love for you.

"you fucking idiot," you mutter, and he sighs, adjusting the blazer that he draped on you to make sure you didn't get more drenched in the rain than you already were, "i love you too."

his undying latch onto kaiser despite being abandoned, he would hold on to the imaginary glimmer of hope than to accept the separation. to stay with him and stay with the abuse than be alone. it’s all represented in one singular song as lana sings about her everlasting submission to her lover despite the tragedies he has caused and will cause to her as, she herself is a tragedy.

rin itoshi

as horrible as it is, rin lives in the past. he holds onto the shared dream he had with his brother. instead of moving on to become the best striker, he focuses on destroying sae. when he sleeps he has memories of the night in the snow, while itoshi sae on the other hand, has moved on. and just as the walters sing about the unhealthy and harmful attachment to a person, that the love is just undeniable. they also show the other’s desperation for them to just let go, and move on. and naturally ofc, instead of receiving lyrics about himself, rin gets a song about his relationship with his brother, showing just how much sae plagues him.

micheal kaiser

while its no secret this song is his favorite, there’s good reason why. kaiser is the way he is because of his father, he was alone his whole life and the only physical touch he received was abuse from his dad. he was no shown love, he shut his heart out from everyone. instead receiving the same feeling from being hated, since that was all he knew growing up. the eagles sing perfectly how they were alone their whole life, how tragic their whole life. in the end the eagles sing that there is hope, to not build walls as “it may be raining but theres a rainbow of you”. and instead to open your heart… before its too late.

can everyone stfu and discuss the significance of blue lock covers

my favourite cover is 100% hiori's. the interpretation kills me. (also im going to be referring to 'soccer' as football because my i genuinely get a lil irked when someone says soccer.)

ok so if you've seen other covers you'd almost always see the chains are long and flowy, leaving the cover. I believe it symbolises what the characters GAIN from football. Lets be real, none of these mfs play football JUST to play football. they all play for different personal reasons like in Shidou's case it can be seen as a yearning for freedom, in Rin's case he plays to defeat his brother. all of these reasons and feelings and emotions are what the characters achieve to aspire through this sport. they're also of course stuff that chain them to the very sport. that's why in my opinion the reasons the chains leave the frame is because the characters are chained to non physical attributes they are only able to attain through football. All of this goes against hiori's cover. hiori is a very fascinating character. while other backstories talked about how the other players found comfort in the sport (even in a fucked up kinda sense) meanwhile hiori was forced to play due to his prodigy-like genes. he never felt attached to the sports and even went so far as to say he hated it. the reason why hirori is the only character to date to show a physical item (esp the item being a football) is because he plays football for the sake of playing football. all the chains repersent the CHARACTERS journey and ambitions that they want to achieve but hiori doesn't have ambitions he wants to achieve through the sport. he knows EXACTLY what he's getting out of this (family stability) and he believes he knows EXACTLY what his ablity is. forgot to mention this another thing i think the chains symbolise is how much the characters think they can develop and change and be 'reborn' (eg Yukimiya having one chain flat and falling because he believes he doesn't have enough time to be better, he needs to be the best NOW before its too late.) I believe hiori had already determined his level, ambition and his room for growth almost seeing his football career as completely seperate from him emphasising his indifference. another thing that's so interesting is the way he holds the football. he's holding it carefully almost lovingly. at the end of the day we have to remember, him playing football is the only thing keeping his makeshift family together. he hates the sport but he needs it, reinforcing the idea that whilst everyone else is chained to non physical aspects hiori is chained to the very sports itself. Hiori's relationship with football is so fucking interesting like AHHHHHHHH

i read a fic and honestly it made me really think about shidous backstory

from what i seen of theories, most conclude to him being neglected, without parents, or any of the sort, even going as far as saying he has a good background (which i kinda doubt)

but honestly i think its the opposite, that he has strict parents. shidou’s entire thing is freedom, he plays soccer because it grants him freedom, its why he’s so obsessed with soccer and considers it incredibly important to him. he has a connection with sae because sae (literally) gave him freedom and his playstyle lets shidou go wild, and sae still keeps up, if you catch what im saying?

so, doesnt it make sense that hes like this due to years of being restrictive? right? after all strict parents create kids who push boundaries more, sneakier kids. even down to his looks, his playstyle, its all flashy and disregards the societal norms or “rules”, his hair is different, his eyeliner, he doesnt restrict his vocabulary. its all to compensate for a childhood of being unable to self express. its makes sense if he had to be the perfect son for his parents, and if not well then say goodbye to freedom.

and honestly i wouldnt be surprised if he only dyed his hair as a sign of rebellion against his parents 😭

he desires his own control in his life, and soccer is that outlet, that control he finally has after years of someone else’s control.

i also want to bring up his violent tendencies as that obviously cant be overlooked. shidou is no doubt one of the most violent characters in blue lock, violence is normalized to him. hes grown up with violence, to think its okay to hit someone after a simple mistake. he hits and yells at igaguri when igaguri messes up (in his eyes). that ties in with his parents, i believe that hes faced abuse from either both or one of his parents, or that hes seen it between his parents.
