The Situation we're in:

Four brothers fall from a dark portal. A blue clad Softshell, a purple wearing Red Ear Slider, an orange adored Alligator Snapper and a red dressed Ornate Box Turtle.

Out fell the eldest and youngest together side by side, than the slider flopped on top the large Box turtle and the Softshell stumbled out last before proudly stopping himself for tripping.

His brothers all look up at him with matching looks of frustration.

LEO!

Hey! It wasn't me this time?! *He checks behind him but the portal was already gone*

Mm hm *The slider rolls his eyes and off his big brother's shell*

Don't "Mm hm" at me! *He stomps over and helps the alligator snapper up and his twin helps up their the box turtle brother*

Is that a house...? *The youngest asked standing up*

In the middle of nowhere's-ville? *He gestures to the building then the surrounding forest* No thank you..!

Too bad, I'm checking it out. Let's go Donnie *The Alligator Snapper bolted towards the house, his older brothers watching with varying degrees of bewilderment*

Maybe they have an underground facility?

*Donnie lights up running after Mikey* MAYBE THERE'S ALIENS IN THE BASEMENT!

OR MAYBE GHOSTS!

*Leonardo sighs after them* Let's go.. we are outnumbered here...

That doesn't make any sense two plus t- *The Softshell covered his older brother's mouth*

The math isn't important, big guy.

It's Mikey and Don... we're outnumbered *He gestures in their direction as if to emphasize his point*

… *sigh* You're right

Always am *He puffs his chest smugly*

Now you're just lying to me.. *Raph deadpans, Leo deflates and heel turns*

Let's just go make sure they don't die *He whips around to sticks his tongue out at him*

[Elsewhere]

Out of a onyx portal four other turtles drop. A Alligator Snapper, Softshell, a Slider and a Box Turtle

*The snapper sits up abruptly throwing off the box turtle and slider, the latter of which lands face first*

GUYS?! *Raphael checked around counting his brothers in his head as they clamored and climbed to their feet*

What ever happen.... *Mikey begins calmly* DONNIEDIDIT!

Did not! *He hisses, neatly dusting himself off*

Where are we!? *Leonardo's muffled complaints aren't easy to ignore* I have to work!

Leo's the one with the sword he doesn't know how to use! *The slider snapped up*

¡Cállate! I don't even touch that thing! *He storms over wiping the dirt from his face*

Wait you don't? *The box turtle sounded almost hurt*

Guys. *Mikey's concerns go unheard with his elder brother's calls for attention*

Mhm.. Sure, visible disbelieving eyeroll

Guys, there's something over there

*The bickering trio stop and look up*

It looks like a house.

*The younger turtles look to each other, Mikey grins*

*Mikey bounds off with Donnie following behind him, rolling his eyes light heartedly*

*Sigh* We shouldn't leave them unsupervised

They're going to try to break into a house in the middle of a forest.. *He adjusts his sleeve cuff*

..And it's Donatello and Michelangelo... Of course we should supervise them!

*They follow the two with significantly less enthusiasm*

*Leo frowns and both subtly widen their stride*

[With the Third]

An decorated group of turtle are dazed as the dark portal disappears.

The Ornate Box Turtle wobbles to his feet, the Spiny Softshell and Red Eared Slider sit battleshell to shell trying to recompose themselves, the Alligator Snapper was kneeling beside them.

Anyone else's ears ringing? *Mikey asked rubbing his ears*

Shhhhhh!

*Mikey winces and the softshell blinks taking a deep breath and pulling his head set back on* Sorry, Angelo.. The answer is yes...

Huh? *Leonardo had elbowed him, very intentionally*

*He rolled his eyes in response sighing* You didn't have to hit me

*Leo huffs, crossing his arms and looking away*

Sorry, what did you want attention for?

Um, guys.. where are we...?

*The slider flails in exasperation* Oh..

Huh....Oh!

*Leo heaved a sigh, running a hand over his face,*

*Michaelangelo's eyes widen and he points behind them making his big brothers snap in that direction*

We should check it out! *Mikey prances toward the building*

*Exchanging a look with his brothers Leo begins walking towards it as well with a shrug*

*Donnie half-heartedly shrugs* If we die, we die.

*His little brothers pause and turn to stare at him, Leo openly snickering at him* Your kidding...?

That has never stopped us before

*Raph jogs over to meet them*

Didn't you get your Mystic weapons by "messing around in places?" *Donnie raised an eyebrow*

*Raphael sighed in defeat as his youngest brother adamantly drags him along towards the house*

We don't even know where we are...

*Leonardo pats his arms sympathetically just as unbothered as their younger brother*

The AUs

Familia Bones

Standard separation AU except Leo was the only one separated and was raised by Senior Hueso. They ended up meeting him when they first discovered the Run of the Mill.

While it's been a bit since they met/reunited in the blog's timeline Leonardo isn't as close to his brothers.

Raphael is relatively the same, he's more susceptible to turning into Savage Raph if left alone (ie takes less time). He was most reluctant when it came to leaving Lair. He enjoys quilting as a hobby, all his family members have at least one he made them.

Recognizes Leo as his brother but is hesitant when it comes to him. Literally hates being outside the lair but also hates being in one place too long. Has been the winner of the Lair Games.

Leonardo is more patient, having to deal with customers of all kinds. He's very upbeat and sociable only getting more reserved when he's aggravated in some way. His manipulation skills were honed through social interaction.

Curious to see what this new found family thing goes. Insecure about his place in the family do to not being raised alongside them. Tends to roll his "r"s though that isn't seen in text.

Donatello is pretty calm externally, he's as eccentric as usual he's just not as open about it until he gets excited. He often gets into arguments with Leo over Tech and Mystic Powers. He worries over no longer being needed in the Team or Family.

Actually excited to have someone else around who plays off his sarcasm well. Very conflicted about a new sibling. The older "twin"

Michelangelo is more irritable, he was ecstatic over another brother and practically drags Leo into big brotherhood through sheer will. He helps Donnie with his ideas often drawing concept art for him. He enjoys clay molding in his free time.

Often calls Leo and Donnie twins. Can and has climbed walls and ceilings. Used to carry Leo's Ōdachi before it was his sword.

Turtle Twist

The species get switched around. The twins switch and so does the Sunset Duo, so Raph is a Ornate box turtle, Leo is a Softshell, Donnie is a red ear slider and Mikey is an Alligator snapper.

Everyone adapted a bit differently because of this.

Raphael, still big because his brothers love him sm and he loves them right back, he would always come up with ways for Leo to play with them without getting hurt. Raph is fully capable of and does carry Mikey around. Raphael often goes to Donnie if he's feeling overwhelmed.

Constantly worried over his little brothers' lack of survival instincts. Has eaten various inedible foods. Animals still don't like him.

Leonardo, because his clumsiness and softshell often feels he burdens his family constantly getting hurt, he became the Medic to compensate for that very reason. He rarely takes off his Battle Shell to avoid potential injuries. He does occasionally use his additional flexibly to pull off sick tricks.

Even though he's not as durable as his brothers he still defends his little brothers regardless of Raphael's lectures. Will go swimming for hours. Carries a crap ton of medical supplies, makes sure all of his siblings have EpiPens and antihistamines on hand.

Donatello, a walking safety hazard, with no soft shell to worry over he's a lot more reckless however most of his tech is defensive. Made Leo's first battle shell when they were ten because he wanted it to be perfect. His fear of beach balls is accompanied by a fear of dodge balls and those tiny rubber balls.

Has a strong taste for cucumbers. Terrified of losing his brothers do to their recklessness. Cracked his shell.

Michelangelo, having to learn to gentle and toned down at an early age lead to Mikey having pent up energy almost constantly, he often burned off said energy by running around New York. Mikey has an interest in Graffiti but hasn't experimented with it outside of the Lair. Despite being the biggest Mikey is still the family baby.

Almost always covered in paint. Wants to protect his big brothers the same way they protect him. Has ripped a door off the hinges at the age of eight.

Rhythm and Rhyme

Idk fancy magic music and hearing n stuff. The AUs mostly just for funsies and it sounded cooler in my head.

Has the biggest shift in character and dynamics.

Raphael tends to be very high-strung even for Raph standards, he tends to more snappy as well. He has a love of baking but can't go anywhere with it because of his often sluggish state of mind. He's very sleepy as the noise often keeps him awake (the resident insomniac).

Tends to hear an incessant buzz. When he does sleep he sleeps like a rock. He tends to bite anything too close to his face (excluding his little brothers) especially when he's tired.

Leonardo is incredibly energetic his hyperactive disposition is in complete contrast to his general silence, he's strangely good at getting people's nerves anyway. He's not very talkative but he's loud in basically every other category. He and Donnie swap older twin status.

Wears a scarf because its cozy and good for making splints. Customized headphones from Mikey and Donnie, has a crap ton of accessories for them. The Lair Games Champion.

Donatello tends to be very antsy having an internalized worry of a lack of time, he's extremely impatient but not in the way Leo is. He's the best at reading mouths and body language as his noise cancelling headphones basically leave him deaf. He kind of has synesthesia and is the only one who can see what he's hearing however that often distorts his vision.

Bit April when they first might and felt guilty. Has chucked a bowling ball at someone before would do it again. Easily derailed by any form of parental praise.

Michelangelo looks like the small edgy type but really he just likes to look cool, he's just as sweet as usual Mikey. He's not really in a angsty teen phase because it's really only appearance wise. Because he can't get piercings until he's at least eighteen Mikey puts earrings in his bandana.

Mostly unbothered by his hearing, similarly to his slider older brother most of what he hears is musical. Because he's the family cook he memorizes alternated meal preparations for Raph. Weaponizes his baby brother status without hesitation.

So

I am thinking about soft rebooting this blog because I started with no real idea. I say soft reboot because this blog is pretty small already so its not a lot of work.

I have a better plan in mind for how to start it.. I think

The puzzle trap idea was fun in theory but it's not for me

I'm not changing the roster it's still the same AUs.

I might change their nicknames, but that's still in the air.
