event update: meadow creek
Meadow Creek. It’s a small town, centered around a Bartell’s, a small diner, a police station, a post office, the Baptist church, and a school, all on the same street. It’s the kind of town where everyone knows everyone else, and secrets don’t exist. Leading up to the disappearances, the majority of the town was highly religious. Almost every single child had been baptised, and the church was filled to the brim every weekend for services. They all thought they’d be raptured when the time came. They all believed.
When only about half of the town disappeared, the remaining citizens didn’t take it well. They were good, righteous people, who should’ve been taken. They flooded the church, screaming about the lies that must’ve been told, pushing and shoving as a veritable mob formed. Chaos reigned. The police tried to keep order, but it’s hard to do that when you only had four officers on staff to begin with, and two vanished with the rest.
Now, Meadow Creek thrums with tension, everyone eyeing each other, looking for reasons they were left behind. Neighbor turns on neighbor, friend turns on friend. No one goes to church for the services anymore. Instead, the church has been reserved for screaming matches, mobs, and confrontations. The town has fallen apart at the seams, and this is what’s left.

You sit around the hospital break room, clutching styrofoam cups filled with coffee, varying amounts of sugars and creams within. Mothers can be heard wailing outside, still grief-stricken from their loss. You are all afraid, left curled around each other, each person a lifeline to another. You are the only people left. Or so it seems.
“ My fellow Americans. By now, you have realized that your loved ones are gone. On [REDACTED], 20xx, we lost millions of Americans to this strange phenomenon. Reports from around the globe have also reported similar disappearances.
“ Many scholars and scientists have been at work around the clock trying to discover the locations of these missing persons. I, myself, have been at work with other global leaders, trying to find a way to work together.
“ Certain countries have blamed the disappearances on the United States of America, claiming it to be an act of war. Many other countries have pointed fingers, and we are at an impasse. Know, my fellow Americans, that I am working tirelessly to find your families and keep America free and safe. For now, I would advise you to find friends that have not disappeared and stay close.
“ We are hopeful we will find your families. Thank you. And God Bless America.”
The screen fades to infallible crest of the President, leaving each of you with some sense of comfort, knowing that there are people working to find your family. The screen crackles, distorting the crest until there is only black. A man in a white mask with X’s sharpied over his eyes appears on screen.
“ My fellow Americans. The FALSE PROPHET is lying to you! God has come and taken his flock home! You are the sinner who are left behind! Babylon, Sodom and Gomorrah, these are your homes, and God has forsaken you!
“ I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left! God has returned, and he shall smite you sinners! Smite you A-”
The screen cuts to black but not before a sign is visible to the group. Meadow Creek Baptist Church. You aren’t sure who suggests it, but there are those who want answers. The hospital van is cramped, but you will all make the trek to Meadow Creek, to get answers...or to find the man behind the mysterious broadcast.
Welcome to the first event! The first event will revolve around the group moving to Meadow Creek Baptist Church. The drive will take one day in game time. However, the drive will go to November 1st in real time. The group will be in Meadow Creek for 5 days in game time, and an update will be posted Wednesday, Nov. 1st as to the state of the town. I will assign roles in the discord for each character such as Driver, Navigator and the like.

Hey guys!!! Our opening day yesterday was so much fun, and honestly, I love the threads that are happening so far!!!!! To keep this fun time going, I’m going to get our first event going sometime this weekend!
For events, you can continue the threads you have now, you just can’t create any new starters that don’t apply to the events. So, basically, only event starters, but your threads can continue as normal.
