Things that improved my life
I have changed a lot in my life during the last two years or so. Some changes were really small and easy and some required a lot of time and effort. I decided to make a list of some of these things that you can use to improve your life too!:
🌺 Mental health
Accepting the way my body looks -It’s a hard thing to do ad I’m not entirely there yet but I got better at it and it does make a difference
Therapy
Finding what calms me down -This one is pretty important for me because sometimes I can’t handle my anxiety. Finding what calms me down and makes me feel safe made my life a lot easier
Bullet journal
Finding my own style in fashion and make up
Routines -Big fan of morning routines to be exact
Specific music playlists -Simply having a happy playlist for your morning or a playlist that’s a confidence boost for the times you’re nervous make a huge difference!
Finding new ways to be creative -Like this blog (aaayy)
🌺 Physical health and appearance
Eating fruits and vegetables every single day -If you don’t feel like changing your entire diet (you could eat healthy tho…), this is a smaller change that goes a long way
Drinking at least 4 glasses of water every day -I think you heard this too many time for me to explain it again
Staying active -Move your body. You don’t have to work out every day or at all in fact. Just take the stairs instead of the escalator next time. Go for a walk or stretch in the morning.
Fixed sleep schedule
Dying my hair my dream colour
Not using headphones too often
Turning off all eclectronics before bedtime
Herbal teas
Reducing caffeine -I allow myself two cups of tea every day. I don’t drink coffee.
🌺 What helped me grow as a person
Reading more books -I read at least 10 pages every day. Now that it’s summer break I read 60 pages.
Being opened to criticism -I asked my friends what should I change and I let down my guard
Book How to be a Bawse by Lilly Singh -This book made a HUGE impact on my life
Being more social -This was a huge step out of my comfort zone but talking to more people made me realise that I can be funny and interesting which was a huge boost to my confidence.
Accepting other people -I was SO JUDGY! You have no idea. All I needed to know was that the person has a music taste I don’t agree with and oh boy they had an issue with me. Good thing I realised that it was so wrong.

How to build confidence:
Start small in everything you’re involved in from what you wear to who you decide to say hello to.
Put effort into what you’re wearing. I don’t mean that you need to be wearing false lashes, makeup, heels and showing cleavage. I mean shower, wash your face, put on clean clothes and wear what you like, whether that’s the girly aesthetic or the comfortable aesthetic. You know your style, chances are, your style makes you feel good.
Take care of yourself. It’s hard to feel confident when you don’t do simple things like showering, shaving(if that’s your thing), brushing your hair and wearing clean clothes.
Take time to pamper yourself and to clean your area.
Assert yourself. This is no lie. Say no when you want to, fight back occasionally. Confidence can be affected when people constantly use you as a doormat.
Ask why. Ask teachers why you didn’t get the mark, don’t let things slip by. It’s amazing what a win, even if it’s simply a percentage raise on your paper is, does for you. Let the drive from the win fuel you.
Work harder. Put more effort into whatever you’re doing, whether it’s exercising, school or work.
Don’t tell yourself that you can’t. That’s in the past. Don’t limit your possibilities with doubt.
Stay quiet about your goals. Watch yourself grow and then let people tell you that they’ve noticed. (Studies have also shown that talking about your goals makes you feel the satisfaction that you’d generally receive from actually completing something. So, you tend to actually do less because you already feel satisfied .So, instead, don’t talk about it. Just do it)
Get organised. Like I said before, wins help and striking things off a list feels like a win. Let the satisfaction of doing things boost your ego a bit.
If you ever feel awkward tell yourself: I deserve to be here, the same as everyone else. (My introvert people will understand this huge fear of strangers and being watched.)
Also, tell yourself: They aren’t watching me. Everyone is paying attention to their own lives. (This applies for anything you want to do in public that feels embarrassing)
Make friends with confident people and ask them what makes them confident.
Confidence comes from within, so you need to come to terms with who you are before you can feel confident. So, instead of simply expecting it to come to you. Work towards it. Fall in love with yourself. Realize that it’s ok to make mistakes, don’t dwell on the past, learn to laugh at yourself and take care of yourself, physically and emotionally. Also, learn to love other people too. Once you see beauty in everyone and in being human you will feel less judged by strangers.

‘Glow Up’ Tips
It’s kind of long, but here is a list of tips/ideas I feel are most important to improve yourself/glo up this summer (or anytime for that matter). -Nat
Take up a new hobby/skill (such as)
Learn how to play an instrument
Learn a new language
Learn how to manage stress
Take a course (online or elsewhere) in something you’re interested in
Build better habits (like)
Skincare routine/Taking care of your skin in general
Self-care routine (Not necessarily face mask and bath bombs, it could be anything from clipping your fingernails to setting aside time to read or do yoga etc)
Working out/Exercising every day
Break bad habits (like)
Going to bed really late
Eating lots of ‘junk’ food/drinking sugary drinks
Cut down screen time
Read!
Self-help*, fiction, non-fiction, how-to books
*Sarah Knight’s The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving A F**k, Get Your Sh*t Together, and You Do You are at the top of my list along with You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero
Get a new look
Clean out your wardrobe and add new pieces
Get a haircut/look for new ways to style your hair
If you’re into makeup play around with different looks
Get a piercing or tattoo if it’s something you’ve been meaning to do
Hydrate!
Because we all knew it was coming. Summer can get extremely hot so fight off dehydration by keeping water at hand
Get a job/fix up your resume/start saving money
Easier said than done, I know, but @yournewapartment has tons of tips on job searching and all that other fun adult stuff (it’s my absolute favourite blog. I’m always learning new tips and tricks to win at life from it)
Get organised
Organise your spaces/belongings (bags, bedroom, apartment/house, storage, etc)
Invest in a planner/bullet journal/notebook to keep track of events and to-do’s (your phone works too but personally I prefer a physical copy)
Focus on your mental health
Work on ending toxic relationships (romantic, platonic, or familial)
Or work on not being the toxic part of a relationship
If you need professional/medical help to manage your mental health take the steps to do so
Let your main focus be on you and doing what’s best for you, not what negatives people have to say about you
Have some zero days where you don’t do anything besides focus on you/do the things you want to do
Get to know yourself/Do a self-assessment
Think about who you are and who you want to be
Think about your immediate goals and goals for the future
To both of those things ask yourself how are you going to achieve them/set SMART goals
Identify your likes and dislikes
Fight negative thoughts/learn to accept your flaws (it’s hard and you may fall back into that pattern of thinking every once in a while, but as long as you keep fighting you’ll start to see progress)
Make memories/Go on adventures
With your family, friends, by yourself etc
Often times we can get so caught up in our hustle that we forget to relax and have fun- therefore set aside time to do something relaxing/fun every week or two such as going to the mall, out to eat, or curling up at home with a good book/movie.

My Mother taught me from a young age to never be embarrassed. If you’re afraid of bumping into someone, looking badly, or awkward moments— she insisted it’s much more embarrassing for the other person. See your ugly ex at the grocery store? It’s awkward for them, not you. You made a scene at the nail salon because your nails are nothing like the pic you brought? Humiliating for them bc they need to do better. Learning a technical skill in a group of people? That group of people are shitting their pants! This advice boosted my confidence and trained me to be unapologetic in who I am. Eliminate all fear from your being. The more accepting you are, the more the world opens up to you and opportunities come your way!

The answer to being lonely is really to busy yourself. It’s a win-win situation: it provides a distraction from whatever’s on my mind, and it gets me further ahead with my goals. Honestly I’m trying to be alone anyway because I’m much more focused that way, and I’m in a time of my life when I need to hustle.
