Who knew that trying to come up with character design would be so hard.

The first is of my monkey boy, Lucian. A half arsed attempt at clothing him. It’s here that I’ve realised that while I can come up with characters, I’ve never truly imagined them in clothes.

The next two are of my baby Rue, trying to come up with a cool armour design, focusing more in the helmet area. I have lots of designs for her, in what I imagine she could wear but none of them are satisfying.

Here is a unfinished piece that I won’t finish of my two characters, Rue and Lucian, having a fun time on the beach. They were most likely sent there to do a job but took the opportunity to have some fun instead.

I love Bluey, and especially the Baby Race had me in tears. I imagine that Dune would find comfort and inspiration while watching the show, being at this time a young and single dad (by choice, he adopted Rue).

To help practise, drawing in general and my characters, I’ll probably try to do more of these mini quick comics.

My characters, they’re very old though their designs do change. Dune is a gruff but loving father and his adoptive daughter Rue. Rue has been around forever as has Dune but the difference is that Rue has generally kept the name Rue. Dune has been called Diego, Fauroke, Fabian and possibly even more. More than likely his name will change again.

I’m hoping to post more on these guys, as motivation to continue their story. Or at least Rue’s story.

A quick sketch for my character, Lucian. My demon monkey. His story is still being made but he’s a good boy.

This is a real quick fan sketch/drawing for a book called The Last Hour of Gann. It’s an amazing book and story, though it does get very dark. But you come to love and love to hate characters and the world building is incredible. I would love to read stories just about the world of Gann and what’s to come.

Featuring in this picture is Amber, our main girl and the best lizardman Meoraq. Though I haven’t done him justice. I’m not familiar with drawing aliens, much less lizard aliens but it definitely was fun, even if I gave up pretty early.
