A Statement from the Creator of the Red Solo Cup Countdown Blog on the Passing of Toby Keith

For anyone who still follows this, or is newly stumbling upon this post...my name is Ashley, and I'm the original creator of this blog. I'll be 32 at the end of this month. I created this blog close to 12 years ago, on my 20th birthday. I, like many other Americans and other country music lovers across the world, enjoyed the lighthearted novelty behind the smash hit, "Red Solo Cup", by legendary country artist Toby Keith.

I would occasionally update the blog with drinks I wanted to try, jokes about red solo cups and drinks, some Toby Keith memes, etc. Even after I turned 21, I would occasionally update with relevant posts, but not as often.

It has been just under 24 hours since the world has heard that Toby Keith has sadly passed away after battling cancer. This news was amongst the first of things I remember seeing upon waking up today...and it just broke my heart and put a somber tone on today. I can't believe we are now in a world without Toby Keith...and, as having people I know battling this awful disease, the thought scares the ever living shit out of me. I practically grew up with Toby's music as my grandparents only played country while running errands. I admire his talent and success he achieved throughout his career. This is certainly a loss to the country music world, the music world as a whole...all of us.

I pray we find a cure for this awful disease someday.

RIP, Toby Keith.

Also, fuck cancer, not so respectfully.
