Some character profiles for my comic. I might tweak the artwork a bit- still, should give some background on the central characters.

Some gifs of scenes I’ve been working on for my comic. The beginning of a conversation between Sonia and her dad, and the first appearance of Clarence.

Webcomics
I’ve been thinking about why I wanted to do a webcomic over other types of comics. I think that it’s because webcomics are one of the most diverse, and interesting mediums out there right now. I remember watching a Ted Talk by the comic artist, Scott McCloud a few years ago, where he addressed how to use the web as a medium. He talked about how using the internet as the anchor for your comic can break different barriers in blending different forms of work- he gave an example of a comic that he drew that as you scrolled down it further and further, the comic expanded outward and inward, changing the way you could read it. The comic starts out like a normal newspaper comic, and then as the viewer scrolls forward, the comic expands out from beyond the barriers of the comic’s gutter, and goes into a strange galaxy scape, the content of the comic bursting at the seams. Physical comic books, and traditional comics in general are wonderful, and beautiful, but they remain static. Flipping from page to page, the comic stays the same- with the use of the web as a medium you can break barriers, like how Scott McCloud suggested. Other webcomics, like Ava’s Demon by Michelle Czajkowski, take a more cinematic approach to comics, setting the story up to look like the color script of an animated film. The webcomics, Paranatural and The Adventures of Dr. McNinja also take interesting approaches, by including a text that show up when your cursor hovers over the comics pages that details extra little details about the world of the comic or characters. Webcomics can be so multi-media, I feel like it would be a waste not to embrace that. My own webcomic is based off of a screenplay that I wrote in a class I took through Screen arts and Culture here at the University of Michigan. Because webcomics can be so multimedia, have so many variables, I thought it would be interesting to embrace the fact that I originally wrote the script as one for a film, so I could use the fact that webcomics can look so much more cinematic than traditional comics to blend the two together.

Some of the supporting cast...
Regina and Heather are twins, and part of Lily’s girl posse. They bicker with each other, but are each other’s best friend- they rarely disagree on anything, and even more rarely disagree with Lily.
A.J. and Mr. Patel are Sonia’s little brother and father respectively. A.J. is a quiet, shy toddler who adores Sonia, and Mr. Patel is a nurse and new divorcee, that adores both of his children.
Principal Vanderburg is the principal of Sonia’s new school- he is boisterous and friendly, wanting to promote a “healthy and supportive atmosphere of LEARNING AND JUSTICE!” Rarely speaks without going into ALL CAPS.

-Uhu and Solaa-
This is another bit of animation practice, in preparation for my 2D animated series called: The Sundial of Shadows, a story inspired by The Legend of Zelda. You can learn more about the project over on my Patreon <3 It’s a hella big project and I’ll need all the help I can get while working on it, so please consider pledging $1 a month to my Patreon. Often I am too shy to ask, but your help would truly make a difference to what I can accomplish outside of commissions and adoptables; which tend to consume most of my time and energy. In exchange for your support, you’ll of course have exclusive access to patron-only content, including WIPs and sneak peeks to do with this project, and everything else I’m working on. We’re still in our infant stage animation-wise, but I have managed to begin the storyboarding for episode 1, which is six pages worth of Link, on my Patreon, waiting to be viewed! I hope you enjoy this little sample of animation, and thank you guys for your patience, encouragement and support! xxx PATREON | DEVIANTART | TWITTER | PICARTO | SOCIETY6
