kaeya knew his mistake. he knew how badly he had hurt her. he knew he deserved the divorce. why was he such an asshole ? he loved her - deeply. and yet, he ended up breaking the trust she had built for him for years - just in a couple of seconds. it wasn't worth it at all; he wasn't even sure why he did it in the first place. a glass of wine in his fingers, he just drank silently while the horrifying thoughts rang in his mind. he knew she deserved better than a lying, cheating bastard like him; and yet it broke him when he saw she had already moved on and had a new lover. one that loved her with his entire heart, one that treated her like the princess that she was. of course, she was with albedo now; a way to rub salt all over his wounds. it was ironically funny, how the emotionless chef alchemist was the one to fix the heart he had broken. and then memories came back, flooding as he remembered that one, eventful night.

the beginning of their relationship was sudden, to say the least. she was a traveler who was on a mission in the mondstadt region. the moment kaeya laid his eyes upon her, she had completely captivated him. for this player to feel piqued by another was truly an achievement - and she didn't do much. with a huge bag on her back, she approached the patrolling knights, thanking them for protecting mondstadt. her beautiful (skincolor) glowed against the beaming sunlight, her (haircolor) blowing gently in the wind. and of course, her mesmerizing (eyecolor) orbs shining so brightly. she was beautiful - so captivating, so charming.

ever since the two grew closer than anyone had ever expected. everyone was simply shocked that the playboy of mondstadt had finally found a girlfriend, had finally dropped his habits of flirting and devoted himself fully to her. he helped her get close to the rest of the knights, watching as she befriended lisa, the acting grand master jean; and even cptain eula and chief alchemist albedo. their life was perfect. so perfect that one day he had propsed to her. one day he had married her. and ever since everything went downhill for the pair.

her commissions in the other regions were so demanding. she was barely at home, mostly sleeping in an inn somewhere in liyue. it made him angry, knowing that she wasn't at home with him, laying in his arms as she should have - but instead she is helping this one, amber eyed adepti man. the two must have grown closer, and the thought pained kaeya to his core. of course he had trusted her - he knew she would never ever do unholy things behind his back. and yet, the anger mixed with his feeling of desperation and loneliness drove him to his edge. just the thought of her being around that adepti man was enough to drag his feet to angel's share. he wanted to forget about these petty thoughts, but unbeknown to him - it'll be his biggest mistake. and the last time he would call her 'his'.

on that same night kaeya drank his heart out. and whilst knowing you were faithful to him and would never cheat on him - he couldn't help but let terrifying scenarios run through his head. most of these are scenarios of her entangled with this adeptus. these thoughts caused rage within his soul, thus he drank even more than usual. these drinks helped him numb down these awful thoughts. a heavy sigh escaped from his lips when he leaned back on his chair. why weren't she home yet ? it has been almost a week since she went to liyue for her commissions.

just as he was about to get up from his seat and return home to a cold, empty bed - a female had approached him. this whole time he had thought of his wife, (y/n). he had thought of his wife while taking the unknown lady to his house, he couldn't remember her name, nor how she looked like. he thought of his wife when he ended up naked in the bed with the unknown lady, when he kissed her - her lips weren't sweet and loving like (y/n)'s. his mind was blank - only (y/n) appeared in his head whilst he slept with this unknown woman.

and from these days forward she was no longer his wife, was no longer held by him, had no longer loved him. he watched as she grew closer to albedo, soon dating him. kaeya wanted her back - wanted to prove her that whatever happened that night with that lady meant nothing to him. but he knew, he knew he can't intervene in her new relationship, after all she was finally happy. he knew that returning to her life would only cause her more heartache and tears; thus he did his very best to avoid her. she deserved to be with albedo - he'd never hurt her like he did, he would forever love her in his odd ways. besides, he was a lot smarter and more cautious than kaeya. he was the perfect lover for her. her world shone bright whilst his broke down into pieces slowly. all because of a stupid mistake.

simply put, he was reminiscing in his memories of the past. from the archon war, to guizhong; to even the small adepti he had recruited. and day by day, he watched as people continued on with their lives - how the society was progressing forward and slowly begun to forget it's tragic history. these people, this nation - all that he and his fellow adepti had swore to protect. but regardless, he adored everything. even the local storytellers who were obviously exaggerating with their tales about rex lapis. sometimes it even brought a chuckle to his lips - yet he daren't say a word.

soon enough though, a small melody reached his ears. the melody was; familiar. it was as though he had heard it before. the ex-archon snapped back to reality, his golden orbs looking around to see where did that music come from. that is when a small voice called at the back of his head. this is guizhong's infamous melody - one that rose to be a part of a children's rhyme after she had fallen. he made sure that this creation of hers stays forever, so he could hold onto that piece of memory. he needed to go towards that sound - to see who or what was playing her sweet tune.

"let's spar now, kazuha !" you greeted the man this afternoon upon entering the club room. the male was holding a papersheet in his hands, his head was seemingly buried in it. what was he reading ? but then his head jerked up once he heard your voice. "are you sure ?" he asked, raising his brow. he was unsure at first, but the excitment in your eyes made him flustered for a mere second.

"i am sure, i'll be fine." you reassured him, squeezing his shoulder gently in the process. you then made your way towards the center of the room; getting ready by stretching yourself before standing in the intial fighting position. kazuha was hesitant for a moment, but ended up giving in the more you insisted. he then stood in front of you before with a sigh. "let's test your self defense skills."

kazuha has seemingly underestimated his own strength, seeing as you fell onto the ground after he swung his leg towards you. a soft groan escaped from your lips, the male immediately rushing to your side. "i-i'm sorry." he began to speak frantically. "i didn't mean to harm you. i- i love you."

you opened your mouth to protest, to tell him you were fine. but; you froze when you had suddenly processed his sudden confession. it seemed like he too, caught onto that - his face immediately turning red. "anyways," he coughed out, his eyes refusing to meet yours. "let's work on you self defense skills."

for as long as she could remember, she was always on the run. that is when she found out about beidou and the crux. soon she managed to befriend beidou, resulting her ultimate join to the crux mates. the ship went across sea, from mondstadt, to liyue to inazuma - and even as far are sumeru and snezhnaya. they have helped people to escape, wether it was from the fatui or from the vision hunters. and one practicular person that they had managed to save, stood out to her the most. kaedehara kazuha. a lone samurai who was on the run from the vision hunters - soley because of his anemo vision. (y/n) found herself hanging out more and more with him, all whilst sailing along the calm waves of the ocean. she remembered their first meeting.

once there was enough space for him to come onto the ship, a gentle hand reached out to him. he looked up, seeing a young with (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes staring back at him. he froze for a moment, letting himself indulge in her beauty. it took him a couple seconds to grab onto her hand, allowing her to pull him onto the ship before quickly sailing away. he sat himself down, watching the waves, and watching inazuma straying further away from them.

a young man who was covered in dirt and blood, stood alone at the shore of inazuma. his red hues stared out at the open sea. just barely he managed to escape - but now he had no way to go and no home to return to. and as if the archons heard his prayers, he saw a pirate ship coming to his vision. hope began to fill him up as he waved his hands in the air in order to get their attention. and luckily for him - they took a notice of him, sailing closer to him.

"the view is lovely, isn't it ?" he heard a sweet voice talking to him. he turned his head, meeting the gaze of the same girl that had helped him earlier. he nodded in response - the view was truly magnificent. "my name's (y/n)." she soon added, her gaze averting from him to the blue waves underneath the ship. he repeated her name a few times in his head, making sure to remember it. after all, he owes her now that she had saved his life. "kaedehara kazuha. but please call me kazuha." the male responded, a small smile formed on his lips. it was nice talking to someone who didn't try to hurt him.

"so, kazuha. what's your story ?" the girl asked out of curiousity. and yet her gaze remained away from him. his eyebrows furrowed. she wanted to know about him ? but why ? no one had ever shown that much interest in him. the feeling; it was quite refreshing to him. "my," he paused for a moment. "story ?" letting out a sigh, he hugged his legs to his chest, his blood-like hues staring off to the sunset. ah, it has been a while since he had properly admired the nature.

"i had pretty much ran away from inazuma." he began, and thought it was quite obvious already - she didn't say a word. "the dirt and scars you see on my clothing, i got those when i fought for my life against the vision hunters." needless to say, it was pretty impressive how he had managed to kill off a group of assailants all by himself. "well then, i'd get you clean clothing then." (y/n) responded with a smile, which had soon made his heart flutter.

"you surely have to try. if kazuha doesn't like you back then so be it - at least you'd know you were pining after the wrong person."

it was time for him to show off his gratitude for saving him. of course, he'd thank beidou later as well. but now it was time to look for (y/n). his eyes wandered across the ship, his eyebrows furrowed when he couldn't catch a glimpse of her. a sigh escaped from his lips when he made his way inside, only to stop by beidou's captain room. he heard voices from there, which were quite familiar to him. taking a step closer, he realized who it was - beidou and (y/n). the two ladies that saved his life. but what were they talking about ? the boy got closer and decided to eavesdrop out of curiousity.

that's him. that's his name. does that mean- oh, he leaned on the door too much and accidentally opened it, revealing the figures of the two women that were chatting with one another. his face flushed red out of pure embarrassment before blurting out a small apology. he couldn't bare looking at (y/n) in the eyes due to her sudden, indirect confession. beidou let out a sigh. "i'll let you two talk alone." and with that being said, she walked out. while passing by kazuha, she squeezed his shoulder gently to reassure him everything was going to turn out okay. he nodded shortly before entering the room, turning to face the latter soon after.

"so, you heard it, huh ?" (y/n) let out a nervous chuckle out of her lips. there was no point denying anything - especially not when he had heard it. after all; you cannot get what she said wrong - unless you're utterly stupid. but kazuha was not. he was the smartest guy that she had ever met - he went through so much despite his young age, so of course he was wise. wiser than most people, that is. "i did." the male confirmed shortly, his pale fingers fiddling with the red streak in his hair. "so, you have feelings for me."

"i do." the female nodded shortly, her gaze averting from him. "and if you don't feel the same just say it already. i hate standing here and feeling like a complete moron." after she said that, the male's eyes widened in surprise. why did she think so lowly of herself ? it pained his heart more than he had thought. letting out a hsavy breath, he approached the latter and reached his hands out, pushing strands of her hair behind her ear.

"i don't think you look like a moron. in fact, i was about to say that i love you too. without you, i wouldn't be standing here now. well, without beidou too. but, you were the one who pulled me into the ship before i could get caught, and you were the only one willing to talk to me on my first days here on this ship." the male hummed, wrapping his arms around her figure before pulling her in for a warm embrace. all the princess could do was stare out of the window of her room and dream of a life where she wouldn't feel trapped. just two days left till her wedding. and who will she marry, you're asking ? the ruthless duke, diluc ragnvindr. she had to met him two months ago, when her parents told her they found her a suitor. of course, if she could she would of rejected it. when it came to the topic of marriage, she thought people should marry the ones they fall in love with. however, for (y/n) this topic was a bit controversial. due to being a princess, she never got out of her castle and thus never met anyone outside of wealth and royalty. her mind then trailed towards her first "date" with duke diluc, sighing as she recalled their meeting.

he let out a sad chuckle as he recalled his feelings. he wanted nothing more than to save her. to save her from the monster that would only devour her when they'd get married. and as if reading his thoughts, he heard a shuffling inside of her room and then something pressing against the door. "hey, kazuha ?" he heard the princess call out, the tips of his ears turning into a light shade of red. she remembered his name ! he was as happy as he could get, just from that. "yes, your highness ?" the male hummed in response. his heart skipped a beat. what will she tell him ? "remember the first time you comforted me ?" his eyes fluttered, his face heating up when he realized that just like him, she was reminiscing their early memories together. "i could never forget it, my lady."

"why can't i be loved and appreciated ?" the female blurted out before feeling a warm hand on her shoulder. she turned around, her gaze meeting her knight's red hues. "you are loved and appreciated, just not by the people you're looking at." was all he told her. he took her hand to his lips, kissing it softly before letting her get into her room.

he was met with the sight of the beautiful princess; his heart feeling as if it would burst out of his chest at any given moment. "so ?" she tilted her head as she watched him curiously and anticipated his response. kazuha could only note how adorable she looked like that. "it's true." he finally let out, taking a deep breath. if he'd already started, he might as well just confess already- right ? "i love you; i cherish you so much. you have no idea how painful it is to watch you dance with him. it's even more painful to watch him treat you like this. this is why i want to take care of you, i want to love you and cherish you. i want to show you how you should really be treated. so, run away with me. let me be your husband. let me love you forever and always, till death breaks us apart. what are you saying, princess (y/n) ?"

"stand back." diluc ordered, quickly summoning his fiery claymore. he then ran over, attacking the hilichurls with his pyro vision, killing them all - or so he had thought. when he turned around to you, he saw a shield wielding mitachurl running towards you before colliding with your figure. he watched as you flung in the air before falling back onto the ground in a gross impact. his eyes would widen before rage filled in. he summoned his fiery bird, killing the mitachurl instantly before rushing over to you.

poor guy would panic so hard when he sees you laying helplessly and hears you groaning in pain.

i feel like he'd attempt to calm you down by stroking your hair gently before picking you up carefully in his arms.

"i know it hurts, but please stay strong for me."

he'd rush to mondstadt and take you to barbara.

he'd never leave your side, he'd hold your hand protectively while she heals you.

when you'd get better he'd scold you for being careless.

but of course, the cavalry knight wanted to come with you.

though you have to admit - he is hot when he's fighting. he's hot in any given situation.

but now wasn't the time to drool over him.

and so the two of you made your way to the location of said abyss mage.

oh no, it's the hydro one.

kaeya chuckled, watching the blue abyss mage floating around in it's bubble. "well, you're lucky im a cryo user." he said - and that was true. he could use his vision to freeze the bubble summoning abyss mage and thus making your mission of beating it far easier. so the two of you approached closer. the creature took a notice, suddenly teleporting behind you before trapping you in it's hydro bubble. this has of course angered kaeya as he soon attacked, freezing and defeating the creature. the bubble you were trapped in had soon popped, dropping you onto the hard ground beneath you.

once he made sure there weren't any more monsters nearby, he'd approach you and kneel besides you.

"are you okay, darling ?"

he'd stroke your cheeks with his gloved hands.

you chuckle at him.

it's just a bubble, sir.

still, you're very grateful he was there to protect you, even if you weren't seriously injured. <3

his gloved arm would hover above your injured knee.

he'd sigh softly, leaning in to press a gentle kiss against the burnt bruise.

"(y/n) ?!" the ginger yelled out when your body hit the ground. you laid there motionlessly, and the only thing that gave out a sign that you were still alive were the soft groans of pain that had escaped from your lips. he had immediately felt bad, rushing towards you and kneeling next to your limp body.

when you start feeling a bit better, he'd pick you up and hold you against his chest.

it was just another, normal day in albedo's laboratory.

he was experimenting something that you couldn't quite make out.

regardless, you'd watch him lovingly.

albedo was a genuis, calculated man.

but nothing had prepared him from what happened next in his small laboratory.

something that had ultimately lead to him regretting your involvement.

a sudden burst had suddenly erupted from albedo's failed experiment. the light before the explosion was blinding, but soon the explosion sent you flying against a tall shelf, knocking it over you. not only did the experiment leave a dirty scar on your cheek; you were now covered by a pile of books which had fell on you due to the impact of the fall. albedo let out a cough, his eyes averting across the incident scene once the air became clear again. then he spotted your figure, guilt washing over him as he rushed over to your side.

this man would be so sad that you got hurt because of his mistake.

he removed the pile of books off of your figure and pulled you up carefully.

he'd pull you closer to inspect the scar that had formed on your cheek.

immediately would look for a way to heal you.

you reassure him that you're fine and partially blame yourself.

after all, you knew how dangerous his experiments might be and yet decided to stay in the same room.

he'd never allow you in again, mainly to keep your safety.

but don't get him wrong, once he's out of his laboratory he'd pamper you with his love and affection. <3

he always told you to call out his name in case of danger.

and you did occasionally when your commissions turned hectic.

he was always there, to protect you.

but now you weren't on a commission.

instead, you were climbing on top of cliffs to collect qingxin flowers.

you were planning to give him a give to show him your appreciation.

and said gift was a flower crown.

you knew his intial reaction would be calling it childish.

but deep down you knew he'd appreciate the kind gesture.

you were about to collect the last flower, when something unplanned had seemed to occur.

you huffed as you managed to climb up the last cliff, reaching your hand out to grab the last flower. you were high up, and the cold wind had seemed to affect you. you were shaking, thus you stood unstable on top of the cliff. just then a strong gust of wind made your leg slip before you found yourself in the air - falling to your doom. you shut your eyes tightly, remembering the adepti's words before calling out his name.

at first you had expected that he wouldn't make it in time, that it would be the end of you just there and then.

but a spark of anemo power surrounded you.

you felt familiar, warm arms wrapping themselves around your body before finally reaching the ground safely.

when you looked up at him, you saw tears spilling out of his amber hues.

"i thought i lost you." he'd say, his breath shaky as he pulled you closer.

he held you so gently, afraid you'd slip out of his fingers. it was as though you were a glass that he was scared to break.

you'd wipe his tears before planting a gentle peck on his lip.

you reassured him that he's not going to get rid of you that easily.

that makes him flash a rare smile, that was only reserved for you. <3

it served you no surprise that by associating yourself with the samurai, your life would always be on the run.

he was the target of the vision hunters, but he always managed to escape.

now the two of you were chilling on beidou's ship, enjoying the summery night.

he'd point at the stars and speak so passionately about nature.

you admired the spark he had in his eyes everytime he looked at something he loved.

that included the way he looked at you in adoration.

but all of a sudden, it was as though the archons had cut shortly your sweet moment together.

the ship began to rock violently when a sudden storm hit the ocean. you, who was sitting on the edgy suddenly fell off - but held onto dear life when your fingers gripped the place your were earlier seated on. kazuha reached his hands out, desperate to reach you despite the ship shaking. but to your luck, he was fast enough to catch your wrist before you slipped off into the cold water.

once he pulled you up back into the ship, he held you close to him while leading you inside to look for a safe spot.

utter chaos erupted the ship when the pirates made their way out of the stormy area.

soon everything was calm again.

kazuha breathed out heavily, taking your hand and pressing it against his chest.

"listen to my heartbeat."

it was fast. he was nervous and shaking.

"if i didn't save you it wouldn't be beating like that. my heart, it beats for you."

you knew nothing good would happen by associating yourself with the harbingers.

especially not a bastard like scaramouche.

he was cocky, violent, rude and cold.

but had a soft spot for you.

he didn't know why were you so special, and why did you make him feel this way.

all he knew was that he hated you.

but also loved you at the same time.

you were walking around with him, simply enjoying the view.

the two of you promised the harbingers that you'd come back safely.

but ironically enough, you didn't.

you hummed softly, walking around the wooden area along with scaramouche by your side. he fell silent, listening to your humming; which soon cut short when the two of you crossed paths with a ruin hunter. the machinery had suddenly woken up before taking a notice of you two. it floated above you before sending it's projectiles towards you. scaramouche was quick to avoid it - but you weren't as lucky as he was. you were hit by it. the piercing pain filling your entire body. "(y/n) !" you heard him call out, but you didn't respond.

scaramouche was filled with rage, immediately using his vision to shock the machinery.

it was enough to scare it away, leaving the two of you alone.

he kneeled besides you, his eyes watery.

"you idiot, you could of been killed."

luckily, your wound wasn't as bad as he thought.

so he helped you get back.

you'd tease him for crying over you.

he'd just huff and walk away from you since you were ruining his pride.

he wouldn't admit it, but nothing else mattered to him more than you being alive and well from the sudden attack.
